Firefox 2.0

For all who didn't know, Firefox 2.0 is out now. It came out the other day but Firefox didn't auto-update it for me, so I didn't find out about it till a couple days ago.

New features include: a changed default theme; in-text spell checking; built-in phishing protection; search term suggestions in the search bar; improved tabs, which includes close buttons for each tab, and a "recently closed tabs" history feature; session auto-saves so that you can resume browsing exactly where you were in the event of a crash; updates to the extension system; and better support for SVG.

Those are some pretty nice new features if you ask me.

I also found these extensions that were pretty cool:

Adblock Plus: a new version of adblock that allows you to add a preset list of ads to block.

DownThemAll: A download manager built for Firefox.

FasterFox: Tweaks Firefox to make it faster, also adds a little timer that tells you how long it took to load a page

IE Tab: Lets you open links in IE in a Firefox tab, you can also switch between Firefox and IE within each tab by clicking a little icon at the bottom.

Download statusbar: If you don't want your downloads in a separate window. This puts all your download status bars at the bottom of the Firefox window. You can right-click the bars to edit your downloads.

Just go to http://www.getfirefox.com or click the link in my sig if you're an IE user. ;)

Okay, I'm done with my shameless advertising, move along.

I've been using it with Ubuntu Edgy, and it's lurvly. I love the built in spell checker. I didn't know about some of those things though, gonna check em out right now.

Another thing is when I'd open an assload of posts/threads on 7chan the tabs would get fubard, and sometimes I'd go to hit close and it would instead take me to the tab behind the close button. With 2.0 it just has like a little scrollbar for tabs.

I love the restore session option, in case it crashes, or you close out or something.

I like that that feature too. And the spell-checker is win. The only thing that kind of pisses me off is that none of my themes work any more. I have to use the default Firefox theme. D:

Never been a big fan of it, if I slam something off it was because I didn't want somebody else to see it.

I meant more when Firefox restarts because of a new update, or it stops responding or something, and you can say don't restore new session, since it asks each time.
