Sith Crystals [Needing Help]

I am in the middle of writing my first fan fic, but I am stuck with a decision. One of my characters will be constructing a lightsaber made with a Sith crystal. My problem is I am not sure where the location for finding these crystals should be. I have tried to do some research on wookiepedia, but with no real luck. I am down to 2 choices, 1) the crystal cave on Dantooine, or 2) the crystal cave on Ilum.

Can I get some opinions on this matter?

Thanks

Well, my opinion is Korriban. A lot of Sith Lords were buried there, and I believe you can find it there, I think. And there is a cave, but I forgot the name in KOTOR 2. Why don't use that?

If this is set before a LS TSL, you could go to Malachor V, but I doubt a planet in a bad condition such as Malachor would have crystals. Oh and I'll be glad to read your Fic when it comes out.

Never fear, EU junkie Devon is here!

Few Sith use natural crystals. They actually make artifical ones, called synth-crystals. I can go into more depth if you'd like.

No need. I know about synth-crystals. I was just wanting to have more of a ritual on the matter. There are natural red crystal found in kinrath eggs.

Oh and my fic is taking place 996 bby.

Well not Ziost, it is in my fic but is used for another purpose.

Not Korriban, I've heard way to much of that place. I am still debating rather or not to put it in my fic.

There is nothing about Malachor, I don't want to make up a description for an unknown planet. Malachor V was destroyed in the canon version, so that is no good.

Yavin IV I just flat out hate.

I'm looking for somewhere dark but not desolated like Malachor V, and to have a little mystery to it.

I guess I'm just picky.

I don't know what happened to the Sith homeworlds of Khar Shian, Khar Dhelba and the rest. Those would make excellent spots for Sith crystals, unless they have been destroyed in a clichéd mass destruction procedure.

You will most likely not get much info on them, since they were only mentioned in the Golden Age of the Sith and the Fall of the Sith Empire comic books... They are located in the far outer rim, if not out of it.

Well, there are many Darkside planets.... you could even make up one, like a Darkside Illum called Dilium.

Description: (you can change the name if you want)

Dilium has "Black" snow, and the Darkside swelling up from the ground so much that everything that touches it's surface (that isn't a Dark Side Force Sensitive) dies and their Blood is splattered all across the surface.... volcanoes erupt at the top and bottom of the world, there are Guardian ghosts at each Dark Lord's tomb (only the most powerful Dark Lords are buried here) and Crystal caves... there are no Force ghosts here (not the same as a Guardian ghost) the spirits were sucked into their caskets to never be released unless someone opened the casket.... there are holocrons on top of the "casket" that will allow someone to communicate with the Dark Lord buried inside. The core of the planet is so Darkside that it could be used as a weapon to destroy the Jedi.

Hmm...this might sound stupid...but...

1.Coruscant is built in layers. There are whole cities beneath the surface, going on till the ground. Maybe you could make some epic story traveling to the surface of Coruscant for some crystals.

I don't know how those crystals are made, but if it's a matter of life energy, it won't get any higher then Coruscant.

2.Ossus. The origin of the Jedi and Dark Jedi. Very mysterious place too. AND (for storyline reasons) it was re-discovered by Luke Skywalker, many years after your storyline takes place. Maybe some tomb-raiding?

3. Sonema Sekot. Literally a living planet. Mysterious, creepy, dark side energies, Yuuzhan Vong origin...sounds Sithy enough :xp:

The best options (imo) have already been mentioned though.

Coruscant could be one as Ztalker said. I've read a book where a jedi goes down to the surface and find a desert and only a few buildings.

Thinking about it, Dantooine wouldn't be bad, since it could have a dark tainted place, like the Grove in KOTOR. Also, Lord Darth Bane, what is your Fic about (Guessing it's a Sith Fic)? I'm looking foward to reading about it.

The process where Sith make their crystals is actually quite ritualstic. The Jedi just pick off the nicest ones and build a lightsaber, though the Sith actually make them. It involves sitting by a furnace for possibly days, and imbuing the crystals with the dark side.

KotOR has some inconsistencies with the EU.

Well, Dantooine was supposed to be a very peaceful planet, the grove is "de-tainted" when you either save or kill Juhani.... so Dantooine wouldn't be a good place

off topic: If you kill Juhani who do you get on your team.

on topic: he could kill a jedi/sith and take his crystal.

That's true.... LDB I would consider that...

@Darth Grivis. you don't get anyone to replace Juhani... unless you make a recruitment mod.

So they use meth as a weapon? That sounds pretty evil.
