Common Thug
Okay, I know that Star Wars is science fiction and that not everything in it is possible. However, how much memory do you think R2 has? I mean, the droid never had a memory wipe and it has been active since Episode 1. It's been recording everything since that time and doesn't show any signs of malfunctioning.
HerbieZ
7.4 Petabytes of memory storage space. Oh and yes, he told me. Keep the questions coming, you make me feel like supershadow.
SithRevan
Well you would think that they would make a driod in the image of a human and as far as I know the human mind has millions of petabytes of information it can store and maybe even more. So I think R2 probley had about as much if not more. In real life though the actual machine they used only had probley enough memory to do the actions the programmers programed into it. Emperor Devon
Droids have far more memory than humans in Star Wars. In real life, you'll become more experienced and efficient at things as time goes by. The same goes for them.
Jae Onasi
R2 has as much memory as George Lucas wants him to have for purposes of plot development.

I will have to agree with jae on that one, I really didn't think of it before but George Lucas made him so he can have as much memory as George Lucas can imagine. Common Thug
^^^^ That's true. The droid is the centerpiece of all Star Wars stories. (That's why I don't like the new Legacy comics).
Sabretooth
Taking into consideration the fact that the only wav files that work in him are toots and beeps, his AI is a recycled version of the Chessmaster and his motor functions consist of moving a wheel and rotating his head... I judge his memory to be around 1.03 MB. (It's even lesser than a usual floppy )
Astrotoy7
From EU, R2 has had some memory wiped at a particluar time - I remember a book where he had gone bad and was actually trying to harm people by sabotaging things etc. But there seems to be stuff that was buried in deep and locked out - of course - this was all the anakin/ROTS stuff - which Luke was only ableto access recently - I believe its what they call 'retconning' mtfbwya
Darth InSidious
Do any of you know how *old* that droid is now? It can barely remember it's own name...
Pho3nix
7.4 Petabytes of memory storage space. Oh and yes, he told me. Keep the questions coming, you make me feel like supershadow. It takes more than 7.4 Petabytes to get into Mordor.
