ForceFightWMe12
Kyo readjusted the bag on his shoulder, coming down the gangplank with the rest of the crowd. He found Carwyn nearby and ranger flagged him down. "Something up?" he asked. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- A good few yards from the dock, a group of darkly-clothed figures sat along the path, conversing in low tones and staying quite inconspicuous. Though they succeeded, the glint of weapons were not unnoticed if one were to look at them. One of them looked up as the ship docked. "There she is." one murmured, a hand drifting to the hilt of a blade, "Right on schedual." ((Let's not swing in like Spidey and beat the snoz out of our evil friends just yet, shall we? Don't worry, the fight's coming soon enough ))
Rogue Nine
"Yeah, Aya said something about giving you directions to someplace," Carwyn told Kyo. steven
Jonas packed his hammock into his main bad and his fish in another. Once doing so he headed onto the mainland. Quanon
"I'm Akira, nice to meet you," He said, extending his hand, "So, i'm guessing you're something more than a drunken vagabond?" Bora Cho shaked the hand of Akira . " Drunken vagabond ? No not really anymore , I'm more like a rogue-monk . I was to be come a healing monk , but faith decided otherwise . " : said Bora Cho . It looked like the boat was getting ready to dock .
Darth_Velrogh
As the ship docked and lurched gently, Istergard woke up. He had fallen asleep while polishing his sword, Istergard put his sword back in placeand went out to the upper deck where everyone was busy running around or packing things. The necro-warrior spotted Akira and went up to him. "Looking forward to follow the caravan. And I haven't forgot our little duel, eh?" he said smiling, then he saw that he was talking to Bora-Cho, the monk. "So what are your plans here in the city?" he asked both of them signalling themto leave the boat.
Jason Skywalker
"Well, you look nothing like a Monk," He grinned, as Istergard jumped in. "I haven't forgotten it. And well, i didn't really have a purpose, just travelling around, maybe something more," He told him. Although his mind still couldn't shift from the early events. He tidyied himself up. The daggers where still in place, sword locked, bow and quiver held on. It seemed they had docked. Akira then walked away onto the entrance where he found Kyo and Carwyn talking. "Good, urm, evening? Anyways, gentlemen, i see we've arrived," He said, his eyes set on Kyo.
ForceFightWMe12
Kyo nodded. "So it would seem. A bit later than I had expected, but...we're here nonetheless." He looked up and scanned the city walls. Could this finally be where the true search for the Obake Blade would begin?
JasraLantill
As Bob took a long drink from the trough, next to some other horses and a couple of oxen, she watched the others depart from the boat. Kyo had found Carwyn and they were talking just as Akira walked up to them. His stance was friendly, but Aya couldn't help notice that he seemed to be purposefully ignoring Carwyn. Perhaps Kyo had been right. Akira was jealous of Carwyn's attentions towards her. She shifted uncomfortably. Both men were nice, but she didn't want to cause a conflict between them because of her. Suddenly Bob's head rose, and he looked toward the boat and let out a bellowing whinny. Aya turned toward the hold gangplank, and noticed Hoshiko's impressive black steed being led out by one of the dockworkers. "Oh, don't tell me you've got a crush on someone, too?" Aya said to him. "Besides, he's a stallion. You're a gelding. It would never work out." Bob whickered his objection. "Ok, friends, maybe," Aya relented. "But I doubt you'll be seeing much of him after we get to the city. I'm sure our aeromancer friend has a different agenda than we do." Since Bob appeared to be finished with his drink, she began to lead him back to the others. It was dark now. Torches lit either side of the dock area as well as the path leading up to the city gates. She turned over her shoulder to look at the city looming behind her, admiring the view of all the flickering lights and the backlit buildings, before turning back to where the others were. Istergard and the monk Bora-Cho had also disembarked, as well as Jonas. But there was no sign yet of Xan, Takara and Katsuro, Even, or either of the two 'mancers, Toa and Hoshiko. But then again, the boat had been fairly crowded. Perhaps they were just taking their time. Approaching Kyo, Carwyn, and Akira she said, "Ok, Bob and I are ready. Still think we should wait for Takara and Katsuro, but if Xan's still with them perhaps they'll be alright." She looked at Akira. "You look a lot better. Did that remedy I gave you help your seasickness?" And then she turned to Kyo, "I want to get a room at the Inn and get Bob settled first, then I'll take you to see..." She paused, reluctant to actually say 'the old woman' in front of the others as Kyo wanted his business to be private. "....take you to where you wanted to go," she finished. "Are you all ready?" ForceFightWMe12
Kyo nodded. "Ready when you are." he looked over his shoulder, scanning the crowds departing from the ship and the heaving water beyond. The sun had fully set now, and as he looked back towards the city, the silver light of the moon was not yet visible. The night was pitch black. Darth_Velrogh
Istergard saw the small group that was forming up in the docks and decided to join them. Kyo was staring into the night, Istergard got closer to try to find out what was he looking at but he discovered it was impossible to know what goes on in his mind. "The night gets your attention Kyo? I myself am fascinated by it." he said realising that he was now also staring into the night. The moonless night, someone would die, at least the necromancers that taught him believed so. The silence that preceeds Death he thought smiling. "Oh well, its getting dark. Maybe we should get moving, what do you say?" Istergard said breaking the silence and turning to the others.
ForceFightWMe12
Kyo nodded. "We probably should." He readjusted his bag over his shoulder and looked at the others a moment before moving off up the path. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- "Here they come." one of them said, the voice female. "Finally!" a burly one said, his voice husky. His hands darted to his blade hilt, "It's about time --" "Easy." a third one said, rising with the other ten, "Give them a moment." -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- As they continued along the path, Kyo's eyes narrowed. A mass of black-clothed people had stepped into the orbs of light that lined the path, more than one of their faces turned towards the proceeding group. "****." he hissed under his breath. He didn't like the looks of this. Kyo held a hand out to the others, indicating them to stop. The group in black were approaching them now. Every one of the men had their faces covered, and was cloaked. It was like they were trying to raise suspicion. "Hm..." one of them said as he stepped forward. Kyo didn't fail to notice where his gaze was directed. "They came right to us, just like Itsumo said they would." Kyo's fists clentched. "Carwyn..." he spoke over his shoulder, his eyes not leaving the villains for a moment. "Get Aya out of here." "Oho ho, aren't you the honorable knight." A second said tauntingly, stepping towards Kyo. "Are you afraid we might try and harm the poor girl?" "Just preparing for the inevitable." he answered. Jason Skywalker
"Yes, much better, thank you," He had told Aya before they had begun the trip. She probably thought he had been ignoring Carwyn, but he was in fact more interested in Kyo's Obake Blade story. When the mysterious people arrived, he held his daggers better. "Oho ho, aren't you the honorable knight." A second said tauntingly, stepping towards Kyo. "Are you afraid we might try and harm the poor girl?" "Just preparing for the inevitable." he answered. JasraLantill
Aya, not one to just shy away from an obvious bully, stepped forward and put a gentle hand on Akira's shoulder. "No one's killing anyone," she said quietly to him. Still, she stayed behind him and Kyo, but her eyes narrowed as she glared at the spokesman of the group of masked men. "Just who do you think you are!" she addressed the leader. "Wearing your black masks and looking all... scary, trying to bully and threaten people. You're just a bunch of... meanies! Just leave us alone and let us pass!" She felt a hand on her shoulder, pulling her back. "Aya," Carwyn said calmly, "I think Bob needs you." "But...!" Carwyn's grip on her tightened, dragging her further back. Then she felt Bob nuzzle her neck. He, too, was wanting her to back up. "Just let us handle this," Carwyn said softly into her ear. "And stay behind us and out of the way." "But..." Aya looked up at Carwyn. The normally jovial ranger's face was drawn into an uncharacteristically serious look. She did as she was told, and slowly moved back with her pony, still holding his lead in her hand.
Grace
Takara and Katsuro spent nearly all of the voyage with Xan, even leaving the ship with him. Katsuro seemed happy and Takara was genuinely smiling. However, when their little group reached the others, her smile faded, giving way to a slight scowl. Her right hand went to the hilt of her sword. Beneath her cloak, the movement was almost unnoticeable, but Katsuro had seen it many times over the years and his hand casually dropped to his slingshot. But after a moment of considering what they were up against, the hand shifted to his knife. "Katsuro, go to Aya," Takara ordered softly. The boy chose to see his mother's order as an order to protect the merchant woman and he obeyed without hesitation.
ForceFightWMe12
Kyo held out a hand to calm Akira from his outburst, signaling for him to settle for a moment. "Aya!" he shouted over his shoulder at the woman. Carwyn stepped in and soon she was guided to the back of the group, hopefully out of harm's way. For the moment, at least. "A bully?" the man gave a barking laugh, "Like I haven't been called that before." "Careful, Mikal, she might think you're a meanie again." "Gentlemen, please." Kyo said, nonchalantly fixing the glove on his hand before reaching up and drawing his blade with a flourish. "If you could explain what your purpose is here, it would be greatly appreciated." "Our purpose is simple really..." the lead man said, looking at the blade of Kyo's sword with a new light in his eyes. "So...it was true then." Kyo's eyes narrowed. "The Wandering Swordsman was in this caravan. And here I thought all we were doing was getting the Key." "Key?" Kyo barked. The man nodded. "Key, my good man. But now..." the unmistakable sound of metal grating metal reached his ears. Suddenly, the entire band was armed to the teeth. "It seems our objective has changed." The man's eyes crinkled. He was smirking. "Kill them."
Rogue Nine
Carwyn shrugged his rucksack and bows off his shoulder. Holding them out to Aya, he asked quietly, "Do you think you can hold these for me?" The merchant nodded in silent assent, taking the proffered items and stepping further back. He noticed Takara's son Katsuro sidle up and in front of Aya, looking grimly determined for a 10 year old, slingshot in hand. The ranger couldn't help but feel a twinge of admiration for the boy. Reaching into his coat, he pulled out a small bag of marbles he kept around for fun and held it out to the boy. "Here," he said. "I think you may need these more than me at the moment." Katsuro looked up at Carwyn, then nodded and took the bag. Carwyn looked towards the band of enemies that had confronted them. Kyo was talking to them; it was clear from the way they spoke to him that they knew who he was. Carwyn made a mental note to ask the swordsman about that later. Kyo said something that sounded like "Key?" The band of ruffians said something in reply, then drew their weapons all at once. Great. They attacked so swiftly, Carwyn was almost caught off guard. He saw no less than two of the darkly-clothed enemies engage Kyo, while two more were speeding towards him, weapons raised. Carwyn swallowed and moved to meet them, determined to keep the fighting away from those who could not. One of the attackers reared his arm back and Carwyn caught a glint of metal in his assailant's hand. Thinking quickly, he whipped off his long coat and swept it in front of him as the bandit threw the metal stars at him. Three of them imbedded themselves in Carwyn's soft but tough coat. The other bandit, brandishing two short swords moved to almost within slashing distance. Carwyn tossed his coat in that bandit's face, then moved to block a blow with his arm from the first attacker, who was now holding a pair of nunchucks. Snapping his leg out, Carwyn swept the first bandit's feet out from under him, then somersaulted sideways as the second one, free of Carwyn's coat now, threw a sword at the ranger. It missed Carwyn's diving frame by a few inches and imbedded itself in a barrel. Carwyn quickly stood up and grabbed it, then turned to face his assailants again. He nodded to the bandit that had thrown the sword at him. "Thanks for the blade, mate," he said, winking. That always infuriates them, being cocky, Carwyn thought. Being furious makes them sloppy, and hopefully I can use that to my advantage.
JasraLantill
Aya was floored when she heard the masked man give the order to kill them. Everything seemed to happen in a split second--Carwyn and Kyo engaging their opponents with lightning speed. Aya stepped further back against Bob, grabbing hold of Katsuro's shoulders to keep him close to her, lest he get hurt. Suddenly, Bob reared up, jerking the lead from her hands. His hooves struck out at one of the assailants that had circled around behind them, and Aya pulled the boy behind her to protect him from Bob's deadly hooves. The masked assassin was temporarily knocked back, but as Aya had moved away from the protection Bob had afforded her, she suddenly felt something slip around her neck. Then tighten. Her hands instinctively grabbed at the cord around her neck, but panic gripped her as she was dragged backwards by an unseen assailant.
steven
The man dragged Aya back towards the darkness of the night, she could just about see a dagger next to her throat and the only thing she could hear is his heavy breathing. Next was the sound of an arrow firing through the wind and the thudding sound as the arrow hit it's target. The assalliant then fell to the floor and Aya could clearly see Jonas standing with a bow aimed at her. "You okay?"
ForceFightWMe12
So much for small talk. Kyo's blade whipped around, quickly sheering through the stomach of one of his assailants. He growled as he ducked a swing from a second attacker, sweeping the man's feet from under him and dispatching him with his own blade. Kyo's eyes swept the mini battle in a split second. "Jonas! Akira! Help Aya!" he shouted, seeing the bandits circle around behind them. He couldn't say any more - a second later, he felt something strike against his shoulder, knocking him sideways. "Mmph." he grunted, wincing a bit. The weapon had been blunt, and it had hit his pauldron... He turned in time to see one of the strange men recalling his flail, readying it for another throw. Kyo wasn't about to let him have that chance. He charged forward, his sword ready...but the flail shot out and wrapped around the blade, jerking it out of his hand. An oath hissed from the swordsman's mouth as he dove forward to catch the blade. He caught the weapon just in time, driving the point of the blade hard into the ground as flail-man approached him. His weapon now trapped around Kyo's, he was free to land a nice side-kick beneath the man's jaw, hardly shifting from his crouching position. There was a sickening cracking sound, and the man fell over, the chain of the flail slipping from his limp fingers.
Jason Skywalker
Three of them imediatly rushed at Akira. He grinned, lifting his hands as he threw his daggers, hitting one on the leg and the other right on the throat. One down, two to go. The free one took out a sword and slashed horizontally at him. Akira, still grinning, simply back-stepped, evading the swing and flourished his sword from the scabbard. The assassin tried stabbing him but Akira simply pushed the blade away with his. He swung low but the assassin jumped and then tried stabbing the ground but Akira side-rolled, grabbed hold of one of his daggers and threw it at him, providing the needed distraction. He simply grabbed it and played with it for a while but then, when he turned to Akira once again, an arrow had already been shot and it had already stabbed him in the forehead. One more down, one more to go. Akira put his bow back on his back and grabbed again his sword and his dagger, hiding it in his left sleeve when his other came flying right behind him as he simply raised his hand, catching it with two fingers. He hid it on his right sleeve and then turned around. An arrow came flying by, but he dodged it. The assassin kept shotting arrows, all dodged by Akira. Then, Akira appeared right in front of him with his back turned to him as the moon reflected on his sword as the wine red bright shine appeared. The only thing he could do was admire the beautiful colour before he was beheaded. Akira went back to where Aya, Katsuro and Bob where, but he couldn't find her. "Blast it," He muttered, "AYA!" Only then he heard something familiar. It was Jonas' voice. He ran it and found him with Aya. "Aya! Is she alright?" He asked Jonas.
JasraLantill
Coughing and desperately trying to catch her breath, Aya nodded at Jonas. Then her eyes widened. Another assassin was taking aim at them from behind them, the torchlight illuminating the polished throwing knives that were just about to fly out of his hands. "Duck," she croaked to Jonas, as she pointed over his shoulder. The knives flew. One straight towards Jonas, the other to the side of her--in Carwyn's direction. Quanon
"Kill them" Bora Cho knew it would turn to ugly , these men where not thieving thugs , they had their reason to attack this well armed group . In a flash everyone was into the fight , Bora Cho took a leap when an one of the thugs attack him . Bora Cho ducked and aimed with his short bamboo stick at the knee's of the attacker . But got parried . Bora Cho had to dodge again , this where not simple street bandits . In an attempt to knock out the attacker Bora Cho threw his stick at his head . The bandit had to jump aside , giving Bora Cho enough time to launch his own assault . With quick flurrys of his hand-palm he beated the thug on the chest . Followed by a quick swoop of his knee dashing into the ' sensative area ' . The brute fell , screaming loud . Bora Cho had big grin on his face . " That's for insulting the fair lady ." Bora Cho eyes flashed to white-blue , loading a small energie blue ball into his hands . The thug got smacked into the floor by the ball , his neck snapped of the hit. Bora Cho looked around it looked like the others where still fighting . " Who are these people Kyo ? " : yelled Bora Cho as the leader of these ruffians seem to know who Kyo was . Rogue Nine
It had been a while since Carwyn had spent any sort of time swordfighting, but adrenaline helped him ease into it as he parried the enemy swordsman's attacks while keeping the nunchuck-wielder at bay. Hopping on top of a barrel, he lashed his foot out at the nunchuck bandit, feeling the solid crack of a good hit. The bandit spun away, dazed. Carwyn then turned his attention to the swordsman, leaping down at his assailant and slashing away. He managed to connect with a solid slash to the bandit's left arm, eliciting a yelp of pain. Moving quickly, Carwyn brought the heavy pommel of the sword up under the bandit's chin and heard another satisfying crack. The bandit's eyes rolled up to the back of his head and he fell backwards, knocked unconscious. Carwyn turned as his remaining enemy rushed at him again, nunchuck twirling. The ranger ran to meet him and threw his sword at the oncoming bandit. The black-clad fighter knocked the blade out the air with the nunchuck, giving Carwyn the opening he needed. Leaping into the air, he delivered a flying kick to the bandit's face, knocking his enemy backwards. The bandit's head hit the ground hard and he lay there, limbs sprawled, unmoving. The ranger stood up, admiring his handiwork, when he felt a sudden pain in his leg. Gasping for air, he dropped to one knee and looked at his right side. A knife had hit him in the upper thigh, still stuck there by the length of the blade. Blood was starting to ooze out of the wound, which looked fairly deep. Greaaat, Carwyn thought to himself bitterly. He dragged himself to the barrel, using his arms and good leg, hoping to get out of the way.
