"Here." Kyo said, turning into the room. He had been standing just outside the open door when he had heard the sound of Aya's voice. Now, having excused himself from the Abbot's presence, he took a few steps further into the room, his arms crossed over his chest.

"It's good to see you awake." the swordsman said, smiling faintly, "Are you feeling well, Miss Aya?"

Aya thought a moment. She felt a bit disoriented, but beyond that, she felt alright. "I'm a bit hungry," she said to Kyo, "but other than that...."

She moved to sit up. Her muscles felt taught, as if she had been exerting herself, but she didn't feel tired. She gave Kyo a tentative look. His arms were crossed over his chest. "You look cross," Aya said to him. She bit her lower lip as she tried to remember exactly what had happened.

She remembered scattering her father's ashes, she remembered praying...but after that, things were a bit hazy and dreamlike. "Are you angry with me? Did I do something wrong?"

Carwyn chuckled. "I think you did something right, if memory serves correctly," he told her, pointing at Kyo's bracer. "Everyone got right bright and chipper when you passed out." He smiled, remembering something. "Except for Toa. He kinda just keeled over and zoned out. Wonder why?"

He sat on the bed next to her. "Oh, and we found ourselves a guide to the monestary. Someone you might know."

As Carwyn motioned to him, Kyo pulled back the sleeve on the arm that had been injured. Hints of dry blood still remained on the leather, but the wound beneath it had disappeared completely.

"You healed us and rejuvinated us all." he said, his smile broadening a bit, "While it did help us quite a bit..." - he shook his head slightly, as if bewildered - "It was a rather stupid move."

As Carwyn continued, Kyo motioned behind him, out the open door. "One Miss Magdelena Roche." he said.

Aya's eyes widened. "Maggie? What was she doing out at Rock Snake C...." Her eyebrow raised. "Oh," she said knowingly. "Ryebark. For Brother Hanzo's tea, no doubt. He's got to be the oldest monk here, but he's still the nicest." She grinned. "He used to give us hard sweets made with horehound extract. They're supposed to quiet a cough, but he found that they worked well for quieting talkative girls during meditation time as well."

She flipped the blanket off her and swung her legs over the side of the bed. "So, where is she?"

The white world started to faded during Toa and Jack's game, and he grunted, clearly irritated. "Well," he began. "It looks like your friend decided to wake up. I don't suppose that's too much of a problem though, as we can always finish up our game another time. See ya kid."

Then Toa woke up in a surprisingly comfortable bed in a simple room. It was a bit uncomfortable with his robes and leggings still on, but he didn't mind. He noticed that neither his pack full of scrolls or Hedri were in there, and that there was conversation coming from somewhere outside his room.

Well, I'm already dressed, and I don't know where I am. So I'll just take the liberty of getting out of bed and finding out where I am, Toa thought to himself as he got himself off the bed, noticing a slight strain in his muscles, but nothing to serious.

He took a moment to stretch before exiting the room into the hallway.

Just then, Maggie heard Kyo say her name. Throwing an apologetic look at the dog (since the warrior still couldn't see her), she said, "Excuse me, I'll be back." She closed the door slowly and moved back down the hallway, passing Abbott Carlisle and Lady Haruka again and turning into the room where Aya was.

"Excuse me, did someone call for---" was all she got out before she saw Aya sitting up on the bed, staring at her with wide brown eyes. "Ohmygosh Aya!" she exclaimed, launching herself at the sitting merchant woman.

"Whoa," Carwyn cautioned as he stood quickly from the bed to get out of Maggie's way. She flew into Aya's arms, the surprised merchant receiving her with a wide smile. He stood next to the bed as they continued to tangle themselves up. Smirking amusedly, he said, "I take it you two know each other?"

Katsuro grinned at Old Yuri. "You were the mouse, weren't you?" he asked. "Saw you go into the room there..."

At that moment, Kaori rounded the corner and approached them. She smiled kindly at the boy and then looked up at Yuri with a wide smile.

"I hadn't counted on seeing you for a while," she told him. "I take it you..." She glanced down at the boy and saw the horn strapped to his belt. "Ah, good then."

For a moment, Katsuro tried to concentrate hard on the woman's head, focusing on what she might be thinking. He only got one word, a name: Takara. Startled, he looked up at her; startled, she stared down at him.

"How the hell did you do that?" she demanded sharply.

"How did you know what I'm doing?" he retorted. "And how do you know mom?"

Kaori straightened and entered her room, slamming the door shut behind her. Katsuro whirled to face Yuri. "Who is she?" he demanded suspiciously. "And how does she know my mom?"

Xan stared over at the girl who entered his room as she left, he frowned, the one oportunity of having someone approach him, and gain their trust, he messed up.

"Excuse me, I'll be back." The girl said to Akkan more than Xan.

"Please do," Xan said softly to himself, dissapointed in not noticing her sooner.

He rubbed his face and sighed, dissapointed in his actions. He got off the bed, walking over to the window, he tuned his sensitive ears in on the distant conversation occuring between the girl, Miss Aya, obviously awake now, and others.

After awhile he lifted his pan pipes, begining to play again, quietly, and softly to himself.

Yuri raised both his eyebrows in surprise at the sudden confrontation between the boy and the woman. He was definately caught offguard by the boys question.

"Well now, hold on!" Yuri demanded quickly, trying to calm the boy, and get a moment to think. "If you are willing enough to know, and ready, which I suppose you are, then I'll tell you," he said to the boy, stroking his beard. "She is...your grandmother, though I suppose she prefers not to be caled that," he told Katsuro, leaning in closer.

"I don't think she likes to be considered old, and grandmother's a rather old person title, isn't it? Then again, I could be wrong," Old Yuri told Katsuro finally.

He straightened up, smacking his lips, he stared at the door Kaori went into, then down at Katsuro. "I was kinda hoping for a more jubilant reunion with you, and also to see one between mother and daughter, with grandson included....and me, of course, can't forget good old Yuri, friend and guardian," he smiled at Katsuro, but his gaze was distant, he was obviously occupied now with his thoughts, not to mention a little dissapointed.

With Yuri's hand still on the boy's head, he sent a small surge of Animistic magic through the boy, this was only to calm him, and comfort him, incase of any remaining anger, or confusion. "Go now, forget what has happened here for now, find yourself a room, I want to talk to my old friend," he said to Katsuro in a weary, but serious tone.

At this, Old Yuri moved over to the door of Kaori's room, and knocked softly, one hand still stroking his beard, as he concentrated on his hidden thoughts.

Katsuro scratched his head, all annoyance and confusion gone, replaced with excitement. He'd never had the chance to meet his grandmother... and what had he done? As he hurried away, looking into further rooms, the boy was filled with shame. Had he really angered his grandmother before truly meeting her? Frustrated with himself, he entered a room and discovered the view was quite to his liking. This was where he would stay.

The door clicked open, letting Yuri enter. Then, a light wind blew it shut behind him. Kaori sat with her back turned to the door, staring out the window.

"You spoke with him," she said softly. "Have I entirely frightened my grandson away?" With a sigh, she turned to face him. "I shouldn't have snapped at him, Yos.." She paused. "You've been going by Yuri lately, haven't you?" A faint smile traced her lips. "What's a name anyway?"

The smile faded. "I shouldn't have snapped at the boy. With his father being... special... I ought to have expected this from him." The faint smile reappeared. "Although... his father never managed that much raw power." She put a hand to her head, rubbing her forehead lightly. "Even with my mental strength, that hurt!"

He stood next to the bed as they continued to tangle themselves up. Smirking amusedly, he said, "I take it you two know each other?"
Smiling broadly and looking out from over Maggie’s shoulder as they hugged, Aya answered jovially, “Yeah, just a little bit!”

She broke their embrace, and then sat back on the bed to look at her friend, but still clasping Maggie’s hand. “I am so glad to see you, Maggie,” she said, her voice tinged with relief. Things have been so confusing and weird lately… I could really use a friend about now.” She immediately gave an apologetic look to Carywn and Kyo. “A girl friend,” she added. And then as Tellis raised an eyebrow, she added further, “A long-time girl friend.”

She squeezed Maggie’s hand. “There’s so much I have to tell you…,” she started. But then the sound of a gong interrupted her. She looked out the window, and then she knew what it was for. The monks were being called to their evening meal. Aya grinned sheepishly. “But I suppose it can wait until after dinner.”

Her stomach growled again, and she pressed her lips together thoughtfully. “I’m famished. Maggie, does Brother Damien still make that herby potato soup?” Then quite abruptly she looked at Carwyn and the others, then frowned a bit. "By the way, where's Toa? He was in a weird dream I had. Is he ok?"

"He conked out right about the same time you did, if memory serves correctly," Carwyn replied, rubbing his chin. "Probably got something to do with that weird spi--- er," he stopped abruptly, catching a guarded look from Kyo. "Poor bugger was pretty exhausted," he finished. "Though with you awake, I imagine it shouldn't be too long before Toa's up too."

He stretched his arms over his head. "But yes, I heard 'dinner'. Potato soup sounds mighty good right about now."

Maggie's delight at seeing Aya again didn't dissipate with the sounding of the gong, but she did realize just how hungry she was as well. She had spent a good part of the day out of the monestary and hadn't had a good square meal all day. "Brother Damien does still make his potato soup, though I don't know if he's making it tonight." She winked at Aya. "Though, if you're here, I'm sure he'd not mind whipping some up. And you can tell me all about your travels over dinner," she said, still clasping Aya's hand. Then she pulled Aya in close again and whispered in her ear. "As well as your charming and handsome companions," she said, surpressing a giggle.

Yuri laughed lightly, smiling to himself, "mental strength is good, but a totally different mind keeps readers out indeffinately, not to mention I use magic mental barriers, unlike someone." He said pointedly, raising an eyebrow at the enigmatic woman.

"But then again, I've ben around longer, and I've had more experiences with mind-readers, haven't I?" He questioned teasingly.

"Ah, well, he's your grandson, not mine; as for scaring him off, no, you didn't, he's only dissapointed he made such a bad first impression, I could see it in his eyes," Yuri told her with a light chuckle.

"Now...why is it you're staying here, Kaori? Last I remember, you were traveling west, not east...then again, that was years ago, wasn't it?" He asked, walking up next to Kaori, staring ot the window with her.

Toa heard multiple voices from another room, and although he didn’t want to intrude, he was hungry. But after that bell had rung and he heard a mention of food from the room, he couldn’t help himself.

“Excuse me, but would-,” Toa began to ask as he stuck his head into the room, but then stopped short as he saw Tellis, Kyo, Carwyn, Aya, and some other young girl he didn’t know in there with Aya’s hand in her own, whispering something. “-Umm… I am I intruding on something?” Toa asked, a confused look on his face, and his stomach chose that moment to groan loudly.

"...as well as your charming and handsome companions," Maggie said, surpressing a giggle.

Aya couldn't help but smile, and although she tried to surpress her giggle, it came out anyway. She was looking forward to when she and Maggie could have the chance to have a girly gossiping session like they used to out by the reflecting pool in the garden. But that would have to wait until after dinner. "Oh, I will," she whispered conspiratorially.

Toa came into the room. "“Excuse me, but would--umm… I am I intruding on something?”

Aya swung her head around towards Toa. "No, not at all," she said to him, still smiling. "This is my best friend, Maggie. She lives here at the monastery, and apparently, she guided the rest of the group here though the canyon." She heard Toa's stomach growl, and her smile broadened. "Sounds like you're as hungry as me. We were about to go to dinner, Toa. You coming with us?"

Kai swatted absently at some bugs that were buzzing about his head, and used a set of chop sticks to turn the vegetables he had frying up over his fire. Nobody had investigated the fire, which he was fine with, for now he would just stay out here. The group was not planning to stay here forever, and when they left he'd meet up with them again. The obake blade was not here, he was sure of that much, and so they would not stay here.

Kai watched the monestary from where he was sitting, his bag lay next to him. He didn't carry any weapons, had never had much use for them, his body was a weapon all it's own. He did have a small lute though, and he quietly slid it from his pack, and brought it to his lips, and began to play to himself, the wind carried hints of the music into the monestary.

Toa returned the broad smile and replied "That'd be great." Then he smiled at Maggie and said trying to sound sophisticated, although doing a terrible job, "I suppose I should introduce myself. I'm Toa Firespitter, Freelance Pyromacer Extraordinare who keeps getting killed, nearly killed, or knocked about by giant rock snakes."

That moment Akira decided to walk in with a "Hey, what's all the commotion here?"

"What kind commotion? Commotion as in going-to-eat, or commotion as in trouble-out-of-nowhere?" Toa asked.

Carwyn raised an eyebrow at Akira. The strange swordsman certainly did have his fair share of quirks. Carwyn didn't understand a lot of them and he was pretty sure he didn't want to. "Well, if you want to go down to dinner by yourself, then go ahead, by all means," he told Akira, gesturing towards the door. Turning back to the bed, he bowed mock-ceremoniously and held out a hand each to Aya and Maggie. "If m'ladies will coming to dinner, it would be my pleasure to escort you there," he said, the twinkle in his eyes and the smile on his lips all but eradicating the fomality in his words.

"Leave it to Carwyn to steal all the ladies." Kyo said, grinning a bit as the ranger offered to take them both to dinner. His grin grew bigger as he continued on, rather dramatically. "Where art thou class, Ranger? Each woman should treated as a different, entirely seperate person. Only pigs treat women as one."

"Years upon years," Kaori agreed softly. She sighed. "I traveled west until I came to water that no man dared to cross. From there, I took the wind currents wherever they swept me and they brought me here. I intended to stay until I felt the urge to wander again, but with the arrival of my daughter and her son... well, I don't know what I'll do."

She turned from the window to face Yuri. "I am getting old, my friend. Whatever adventure my daughter finds herself in is not a game for me." She turned back to the window, pushing it open and murmured, "But the winds bring me a sense that it will be dangerous... even the chance of fatality, if Takara and the boy are not careful."

Then, she leaned far out the window and spoke, but it was unclear if she were speaking to Yuri or to the faint breeze that now blew in through the window. It was a silent plea, a wish for the safety of her daughter and grandson: "Watch over them, keep them safe."
