BongoBob Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/01/31/boston.bombscare/index.html All I can say is, Boston needs to lurk moar.
Jeff Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Yeah I just heard about this. I think it's pretty funny actually I guess I can see them thinking its supposed to be scary or something but when you've seen the show it's pretty silly.
Det. Bart Lasiter Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Heh. I was riding home on the bus and heard some lady say she was stuck in traffic for 4 hours. Pwnt by Err.
Jamps Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Come on, they had to have known the devices look like bombs. Talk about a way to get publicity.
ET Warrior Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Come on, they had to have known the devices look like bombs.Uhhh...no? "OMG ELEKTRONICS ITSABOMB!"?
edlib Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Oh, ****ing brilliant! Dumb-ass city. The place I work (concert hall in the Back Bay) was crawling with Boston bomb-squad detectives all night. I wondered what the hell was going on... I said it a couple of days ago to a co-worker... I'll say it again: ATHF For The Win. Holy ****. Surreal.
BongoBob Posted February 1, 2007 Author Posted February 1, 2007 zOMG IT'S A LITE BRITE! DUCK AND COVER!
Samnmax221 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I think Jmac just experienced a V&. Last thing I heard he was talking about blinkies, and by that time this was completely out of my mind and I wondered why he'd want to play with one.
IG-64 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I guess if you didn't know it was an official marketing campaign, and didn't know what the bottom part was, you could suspect it as a possible bomb threat and therefore take the necessary precautions, which is exactly what they did. Sorry guys, I have to side with the police on this one, they're trying their hardest to keep everyone safe, no matter how dumb you think it looks.
Samnmax221 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I have to side with the police on this one, they're trying their hardest to keep everyone safe, no matter how dumb you think it looks. They're talking about giving the guy 5 years in prison, thats Bull****. If convicted he'll have to be locked in with "real" criminals, I'm not seeing how thats fair.

Samnmax221 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Are you sure it wasn't for USB lines? No he was talking about putting one a statue or a bridge, I'd hate to have to bake him a Pretty Cake with a file in it.
IG-64 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 They're talking about giving the guy 5 years in prison, thats Bull****. If convicted he'll have to be locked in with "real" criminals, I'm not seeing how thats fair. I'm not talking about the convictions or the punishments, I'm just saying to not mock the police or the city for taking precautions against a possible bomb threat. Now, punishment is a different story. If it was a mistake, they shouldn't be prosecuted; however, if they knew that they looked like bombs beforehand (which they did look enough like bombs, apparently), then there should probably be some form of punishment. Though I agree that 5 years in prison is taking it too far, especially considering that some child sex offenders don't even get that harsh of sentence.
ET Warrior Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 And the fact that they're throwing around the word "felony" makes them look ridiculous.
Det. Bart Lasiter Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Are you sure it wasn't for USB lines? I'll tell you later.
Samnmax221 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I'll tell you later. Vanilla or Chocolate?
jebbers Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 zOMG IT'S A LITE BRITE! DUCK AND COVER! Best. Quote. Evar. I just had a tooth removed the other day and I laughed a little bit too hard, so now my face hurts. But that was worth it. And 5 years?! I should think a slap on the wrist or some community service should suffice.
BongoBob Posted February 1, 2007 Author Posted February 1, 2007 Giving who five years in prison? The people that built them? The people that set them up? Five years in prison for putting up a lite brite sign is bulls***. The picture IG posted is the only one that I can even think kind of like a bomb. Every other picture I've seen it was just the glass and lights, ergo it looked like a f***in lite brite. And I still say [as] should have ran an ATHF marathon all night long using only episodes with the mooninites.
jon_hill987 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 WTF!? since when are bombs covered in bright lights? If you are going to make a bomb you don't want it to be discovered do you? No, so you leave off the flashing lights and red LED display with a countdown on it and hide it in a bin. Also "in this post 9/11 era" all of the bomb threats have been suicides. If you asked me, the people who phoned the police about the "bombs" should be charged with wasting police time. Stupid MoFo's.
BongoBob Posted February 1, 2007 Author Posted February 1, 2007 So did they show ATHF last night on [as]? I didn't stay up past Futurama.
edlib Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 So... this guy I work with (who is an obvious ATHF fan, since his AIM buddy icon is the same picture as the one on the devices) comes up to me today as says: "So... I guess my roommates caused a little bit of havoc yesterday..." Ah... Oh. He was a bit freaked out and shaken up about the all the bomb squad guys being here last night.
BongoBob Posted February 2, 2007 Author Posted February 2, 2007 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zx2ytr2Oyv4 The "suspects" refuse to talk about what they're charged with, and turn their interview into a comedy session. By talking about nothing but hair. "That's not a hair question, I'm sorry."
