The face of the Houston Astros for the past 20 years laced up his spikes for the last time today. One of the true class acts in any sport will be missed by Houston fans and hopefully by all baseball fans. I hope to see Craig Biggio in Cooperstown in five years.

BTW Biggio hit career double 668 today which was his 3060th hit today.

He will be missed by all who love to see guys who play the game the right way. Did you see that the St. Louis fans gave him a standing ovation in his last at-bat there? That shows the respect the guy has earned in his career.

No doubts about that. Sure bet for the first ballot.

Yes, I did. I even heard Biggio make special mention of it during the press conference after that game. Things like that are why St. Louis has the well-deserved repetition of being best and most knowledgeable fans in all of baseball. Before my real father died I would never had admitted that, he bleed Cardinal red, I would not have given him the satisfaction of knowing I felt that way too.

p.s. I still hate the St. Louis Cardinals :D

I feel bad for you, Cygnus, since the Brewers played awesome this year, but I'm still glad Cubs won. :)

As well you should. How's your cardiac situation? Hope you're OK.

They used the difribulator twice on me last week. I still gasp when they show Turnbow in the bullpen warming.

For some reason, I'm not as angry as I thought I'd be.

(Jedi training paying off)

The Crew made huge strides this season. They strode themselves right into the ground. My solace is that they died in September, not the usual June deathmarch.

The Cubs definately deserve it. They hung in there like a booger in January.

They dropped a few games late and the Crew couldn't capitolize. I attribute that to youth and inexperience.

...and 5 friggin' errors Thursday! Not to mention three blown leads in the last two weeks!!! Uuuuuugh!

Sorry, lost track of myself.

Like I said, Happy Happy, Joy Joy! for the Cubs. I wish them well and all of that.

...yeah whatever.

Red Soxs are the American League East Division Champs and the Best Record in Baseball.

:D:D:D:D:D

How can you call yourself a Boston fan and call them the "Red Soxs"? That doesn't even make sense. If Carl Yazstremski was dead, he'd roll over in his grave.

lol Mets. LOL

That is all. >_>

Heh, I'm sure Ron Santo mourned a whole 0.3 seconds for the Mutts. In mock sadness. And then he danced virtually around in joy for hours.

At least I can spell Captain Carl's last name correctly. Yastrzemski :p

Sure, thanks to Wikipedia. :p

And for the record, I'm not a Boston fan, so I don't really care how his name is spelled. Alls I know is that if you go screaming 'Yaaaay Red Sockses!", Bostonians are going to look at you and beat you over the head and tell you it's pronounced "Tha Sawks. What are yah, retahded?"

Ugg, the Angels are down 0-1 in the series against the Red Sox. They will come back though...I hope.

Great game pitched by Beckett. Since Francona wants to give Schilling a rest. I would start Lester in game 2. Dice-K pitches better away from Fenway.

'grats to the Rockies.

And yeah, and congrats to the Pinella, pulling Zambrano after 6 innings because he wants Zambrano to pitch on 3-days rest.

Well, if the Cubs had actually scored with the number of men they left on base, and Marmol had pitched a little better, it would have been different.

Hopefully, Lilly can pull it out for us tonight and even up the series.

Chicago Cub fans, I feel your pain of 99 years of frustration. Well, just a little I suppose. But I can't be too sympathetic when your playing my D-Backs who have endured 6 years of frustration! :xp:
