While the shootings were still tragic, it is good to hear that the media is finally doing some fact checking checking on Jack Thompson (and now Dr. Phil's) anti-video game tirade.

A good read for any of the people that have felt the frustrations with dealing with people such as Mr. Thompson.

The ECA's Isaiah Triforce Johnson will be hosting a pro-video game rally on May 5th.

Heh... 1966. Let's start blaming those old cartoons now. The old black & white Popeyes, Betty Boops, Mickey Mouses, Donald Ducks and such that are quite violent and racist pieces of animation. I bet that's where Jack Thompson's hatred comes from. He still remembers when he was a youngster that knew something about that time's modern technology and watching the old cartoons in his bachelor flat.

And yes. That was a jab at his age

I'm going to write my government term paper about unfair video game regulation, and I might include part of this article as a point-of-view. Even though Jack Thompson won't be in my paper (he's not worth mentioning) there are some pretty good quotes there especially since it's in news article form.

yeah and that's why there's ESRB...oh yeah that's right, it's the government's/state's responsibility to keep tabs on the children, i mean damn, the parents pay taxes to the school district, so the state/government better be looking out for them 110%, 24/7, the parent shouldn't even be involved in their child's life, especially during the adolescent stage. god forbid your own child to HATE you.

parents that give into child-pressure piss me off to no end, children are like dogs if you don't train them properly when they're young, they'll piss on your floor and bite the mailman. don't wait til they're in school to train them either. damn! i would make a good parent, too bad i hate infants.

"One thing that people often don't realize is that in the years since video game sales have really exploded, not only have youth violence rates decreased but violence rates in the U.S. have declined precipitously," she added.

To gamers, Jack Thompson isn't even worth mentioning but to the naive parents who jump on the bandwagon of "hate x until y then hate z" he is poising the minds of the gullible.
