urluckyday
Sorry that I had to post a new thread to ask this, but is there something up w/ Lucasforums? It doesn't seem like it's working quite right because I keep getting "database" errors every time I post.
Jae Onasi
matt-- is working on it. It may take a little while to get all sorted out so please be patient. It's an all-volunteer staff and it's a holiday weekend, so it may take longer to resolve, but it will get fixed.
matt--
This issue is hopefully (at last) resolved now. After several relatively small failures over the week, one of the more important database tables finally gave out completely. We had to restore from backup over night to approximately 9/5 10 pm. My apologies to anyone who posted anything of value between 10 pm and 1 am. This data will likely not be recovered as the database was in a poor state at the time, and further recovery would compromise the restored data. If anyone notices further errors or has concerns, please private message me. Matt
Diego Varen
I was wondering what was wrong with this website too. Thanks for fixing it matt--.

Negative Sun
It seems to have happened again...same problem?
JoeDoe 2.0
It is, as *always*, Rhett's fault. He spilled Whiskey all over the controls, when he was making love to Five Finger Clarice and attempted to reach for the remote. Niner couldn't do anything about it as he was involved in a fist fight against Rhett's elves, who were on a amphetamine rampage again. Niner's now recovering at a hospital, and due to 2 broken lashed has to stay there until 3-2-1-now. Phreak, Thrik and Groovy played strip poker with 333, who is now making money with their clothes. Aristotle was chasing 3 naked admins with a super mega soaker, Chris taped it. Remi and Metallus were gone fishing. Jake just wanted to test a newly designed totally hip and minimalistic main page for the forums. DJG slept under the table while Maul glued his eyes close. Ike tried to secrete the whole incident by covering it with "database issues". Did this happen again?
matt--
It seems to have happened again...same problem? Yes although I believe its been resolved again. We split our database tables across 2 drives, and one of them has bad blocks. I moved the affected files to the good drive and will deal with the second drive soon. matt--
Sorry about that down time. Looks like the damage was worth than I expected. This time I just scrapped the entire database and re-made it rather than overwriting the data bits. Hopefully that will do it.
Ray Jones
Did this happen again? Not at all. This time StarWarsPhreak was butt naked from the begin with, and chasing stewerdessesnes. Kurgan thought it would be a good idea for all to support world peace and so they gave their underpants to charity. Eventually matt came in and said "Heya folks, may I borrow the server blade you're currently using for the buffet, I got urge to tap dance!" There you go - classified information for everyone. (For all who might not notice, I am just kidding. -- Mister Phreak and Rhett have *no* underpants to give to charity. Honour to the administrationers! XD)
Commander Obi-Wan
Thanks again matt--. Hopefully, this database issue subsides. And I should say thanks to Ray Jones for that "fictional", entertaining post.

I know you've been putting a ton of hours into this and I appreciate it.
Ray Jones
As a personal "thank you", I've sent matt a new pair of golden dashes, dancing womenfolk and a wallet with his initials "R.N." on it. Oh, and my little daughter (oh I have made sooo many notes for her, Jae ) drew a picture of him: Are you pregnant and/or a long haired beauty, matt? matt--
Haha, nice picture. That should go on the fridge. ------------------------- This morning's downtime was to get the main hard drive replaced. As I may or may not have noted previously, it was causing the errors. The expected downtime was 1-2 hours but it ended up taking about 4.5 . Additionally I had to rebuild some configurations but I believe we are good to go for awhile. Edit: Also need to re-compile the kernel since they decided to not copy that over and now we're only using 1 of 2 processors. grrrr Matt
Negative Sun
Thanks a lot for the effort Matt, this place is like a second home to me...[/nerd] Imagine driving home from work and your house isn't there, it's kinda like that.

Negative Sun
Seems like there's still a few glitches here and there...Hardware not co-operating I take it? Maybe it needs some alternative persuasion "If you won't work I'll just replace ya pal!"
matt--
I'm not sure about the last 12+ hour downtime. That's our hosts idea of a "Emergency - 10 minute resolution" trouble ticket / page. Time for a new host, I think. I still have not heard from them regarding the downtime after several emails.
