Arcesious
First the virginia tech shooting and now this... http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/05/us/05cnd-omaha.html?ref=us some guy went into westroads mall in omaha Nebrasak and killed 8 people and injured nine more, and then committed suicide... Crime may be more of an issue than I thought. Sure there's pleanty of police, but they never arrive in time to save people from beign kileld by madmen. Crime is a serious issue. I bet everyone has the same veiws on this so it will probably not be a debate, but a more a discussion. This is a serious problem growing rapidly, the death tolls being enormous each year from crime growth. What can we do to help? We can't bring guns in malls to protect ourselves. and these gun laws are too constrcted for us to be able to protect ourselves. but that's because of criminals. Something needs to be done. And that's where this thread coems in. Ideas of what we can do?

Web Rider
gotta teach people to be responsible gun owners before we let more people have guns. Personal responsibility is something the US has become rather lax on.

SilentScope001
But this isn't crime. It was nothing more than a massacre, followed by a sucidce. A mass murder, done by a psycho. It's an outbreak of insanity, coupled with the desire to die, and take as many lives as possible with them. What caused it? Doesn't matter. Man, I hate GTA now. mimartin
Let normal law-abiding citizens carry guns so they can shoot the thugs before they shoot them. In Texas where you can carry concealed handguns there are still laws about where you can carry them. Schools, Government Buildings, Hospitals, any place that sell alcohol and business that post a sign do not allow them to be carried on their property. Most (if not all) malls are one of the places that we are not allow people to carry handguns. This could happen anywhere at anytime. But this isn't crime. It was nothing more than a massacre, followed by a sucidce. A mass murder, done by a psycho.QFE Personal responsibility is something the US has become rather lax on.My major gripe about society in general. It is always someone else fault. This excuse can be heard from the youngest child in school all the way up to the Oval Office. These types of cases are nothing new and something hard to defend against. I have no clue to why these disenfranchised people would do such a thing, is it possible that this is their one way to become known by having themselves immortalized in the media and branding themselves into so many lives by becoming a mass murder. Again, this is nothing new to this generation. It has happen in the past and unfortunately it will happen in the future. Samuel Dravis
IIRC, he told his girlfriend in his suicide note that he'd be "famous." Maybe paying so much attention to these things is doing the opposite of what we want.

Found the clip funny, I especially liked the way he worked in the titles of his own songs into the conversation. Can’t say I completely agree or disagree with his rant, but he has just as much of a right to speak out as the rest of those entertainment idiots. Nice find and thanks for sharing. It's always about people who are depressed and such and simply put, psychos. @SamuelDravis: He had a girlfriend?

I've always said "to each his own." I am a vegetarian, but I am not a militant who will stop at nothing to see that you don't eat meat.
