jonathan7 Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Hey all - I'm about to embark on a missionary training year, which will involve travelling a bit (firstly to India, and currently a destination unknown for 6 months). As such I don't really want to be lugging my massive Rock gaming laptop everywhere, so was considering purchasing a much smaller portable one. I was considering maybe an old Mac - I have around £300 ($450) to spend - if anyone has any bright ideas or suggestions, I would be eager to hear them. Thanks in advance
Tommycat Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 HP has some decent laptops out there. If you go to a pawn shop you might find a laptop that has good power and a reasonable price. Mac's are good, but generally more expensive. Of course that all depends on what you need... But for cheap reasonably priced and semidecent support, HP is good all around.

Det. Bart Lasiter Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 If you don't mind a not so awesome processor, the MAcBook Air may be a good choice..and if he doesn't mind it having no cd/dvd drive, etc because the air is a piece of ****.

Jon, I'd go with an asus or acer laptop. They're good, they're cheap, and they can be upgraded anytime.
Marius Fett Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 and if he doesn't mind it having no cd/dvd drive, etc because the air is a piece of ****. You get the SuperDrive as a seperate device.

Marius Fett Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 ^If he's on the move, most likely he'll have a laptop bag which the drive can go . Besides, if he doesn't need the SuperDrive, he can just leave it at home!
El Sitherino Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 awesome he can haul around an external drive with him in addition to a laptop. Yeah, I mean why the **** do that, you can put a cd on a flash drive if you need it. Hell you can put 3-4 cd's on some decently priced flash drives.
