News
VG247 has spoken with Blizzard COO Paul Sams about The Old Republic, and Sams does not see it as a threat to Blizzard’s own MMO.“No, we don’t feel threatened by them,” he explained. “We actually think that having additional players in the market is positive, because it’s going to introduce a broader group of people [...] Read the full story at starwarsmmo.net... Web Rider
'course they don't. Soon as somebody gets bored with TOR, they're still be into MMOs and they'll hop right over to WoW.
Da_Man_2423
What, no one ever gets bored with WoW? I'm sure there will be plenty of WoW veterans who are sick of it, and will come over to TOR.
Samnmax221
This won't have any impact on Lucasarts who haven't been able to take a step back and see that their stupid dickbag plans are in vain, for years now.
Nedak
'course they don't. Soon as somebody gets bored with TOR, they're still be into MMOs and they'll hop right over to WoW. your lack of faith is disturbing.
Weiser_Cain
Actually I'm kinda burned out on mmos altogether. TOR would have to be insanely good to get my 15 a month and I doubt it will be.
True_Avery
If I has 12 million subscribers I wouldn't be afraid of anyone else either.
Chevron 7 locke
True_avery has a good point. WOW is like rockstar games, they really don't have to fear the competition because they have such amazing games
Yar-El
I don't think Blizzard has anything to worry about. Blizzard makes incredible games, and they have nothing to fear from The Old Republic. They will watch what goes on when TOR is released, and their response will be a Diablo MMO. I think Diablo 3 looks better than TOR graphically and storywise.
shukkoku
you would think that if some of the WoW player switch over, it would be like scratching the tip of an iceberg. With over 12 millions players they probably won't even care

Lei Hng Wei
I read recently that most successful MMOs have roughly 1-2 million subscribers, and are still around after all these years. Content is still being developed, and people keep playing. Do those companies want the insanely huge numbers of WoW? Maybe. Can they handle the maintenance behind it? Very doubtful. Much like TV shows, if they made it past the first season/year, it's successful enough. (unless it's on Fox, and the good ones will be canned by episode 4)
Darca Lar
I don't think TOR will have any huge effects on WoW. If anything it'll just bring in more online gamers to the online gaming community.
