SyntheticGerbil
This isn't really LucasArts related, so I'm not sure why a thread is here in the General Discussion, but I could be wrong. Anyways, I find most of those games you listed to be obscure for a reason (They sort of all suck). I do enjoy the Discworld and Simon the Sorcerer games though, if just for the writing and characters.
Fealiks
Nice list, I loved the Discworld games - maybe my favourite adventure games because I enjoy the whole Discworld... um, world. And, like SyntheticGerbil said, the writing and characters are great (even if some of the voice acting is weak.. which, to be fair, is fully made up for by Eric Idle ) I might check some of these out, thanks. Fealiks
Yep, same. David Jason's good, but he's not Rincewind

Shmargin
There was a Pink Panther (the animated pink feline, not the slightly handicapped detective) point and click adventure that came out around the time of some of those. Mostly kid based, obviously, but a decent enough set of puzzles and graphics. Played through it probably in the windows95 era or so I would think. Eh, thats it, just felt like contributing. Yeah, there were actually several of them. I only played Passport to Peril though (in Dutch). I thought it was fun, even though it was for kids! But then, I also enjoyed Freddi Fish: The Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds, and the Muppet Treasure Island adventure game.

Passport to Peril, yeah that was the one I played, wasnt aware of any others. There was also a point and click adventure game called Delirium, or Escape from Delerium, or something along those lines, I think. A funny thing about that game is that I'm 85% sure they totally stole the Gybrush Threepwood sprite from Monkey Island 2, and just changed his blue jacket to green, for the games main character, because I seem to remember thinking they looked almost exactly the same. SyntheticGerbil
Well, okay, I'm going to use this thread now to promote U.F.O.s which is one of the best obscure (cartoon) adventure games I ever had the pleasure of playing. Most of the other adventure games, including some on the OP's list, that I tracked down in high school were atrocious and I ended up selling, but U.F.O.s was a hard game to find that turned out to be great. It had such a bizarre send of humor and the characters were very well designed with very smooth animations. It was a little short though. Now to clutter the thread with large screenshots from Mobygames:

SyntheticGerbil
That purple thing really reminds me of Stimpy. I think he's supposed to be an alien sausage or something and he talks by inflating his brain. There is definitely a Spumco vibe throughout the whole thing, though. SyntheticGerbil
Same people on the development team or stolen style I wonder. Both is possible. I had tried to find out more about the designers and artists and I could find nothing on them besides they had made a Monopoly game before this one. jrrtoken
The Neverhood by Doug TenNapel was awesome, especially since all of the sprites and backgrounds were clay-animated, and with filled to the brim with quirky and bizarre music and sound. The sequel, Skullmonkeys, was a platformer for the PS1, but was still quirky and inventive in every possible way. (This BBCode requires its accompanying plugin to work properly.) Too bad it's so tough to get a legitimate copy of both of those games now. I've never actually owned the Neverhood with a manual and box... I cant find games with a manual and box. I like having a manual on hand and I can get more out of the game if I want to resell it witha box and Manual. irishmile
related to LA or not thanks for the thread... many of these I had never heard of... and while there may be a reason for their obscurity they will provide some fun when there isn't anything new to play. SyntheticGerbil
related to LA or not thanks for the thread... many of these I had never heard of... and while there may be a reason for their obscurity they will provide some fun when there isn't anything new to play. Oh believe me, that attitude is why I've played many of the listed games. It's a mistake in the end in my eyes. It's really hard to know what adventure games to play that are actually good, because most adventure fans or adventure websites just give great scores to everything because they either love whatever adventure game comes out anytime or they just lack the frame of reference for the most part. I wouldn't call Simon the Sorcerer, Toonstruck, or Discworld obscure, but I would avoid Duckman, Gilbert Goodmate, Tony Tough, Orion Burger, 2 Skulls of the Toltecs, and maybe Toonstruck. Discworld 1 kind of sucked without me going into a mini-review, but Discworld 2 more than redeems the game series. Discworld Noir is even better, if not a little bit too dialogue heavy sometimes. Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2 are great, but 3 and 4 are kind of iffy. I'm really just disappointed about the voice acting and dialogue in 4, since that's basically what held Simon 3D from being a terrible game (for me at least). So it's like with the 4th one, they took a step forwards and a step backwards. If someone tells you to try out Down in the Dumps because it's a great obscure cartoon adventure game, never speak to them again.
