I'm sure Umberto Eco probably has book or an essay on Christian symbolism; just search for him on Amazon.

You're looking for a book on iconography? Go to the library and ask a librarian about it. I'm not finding anything specific on google, but if there is such a book meeting your preferences, I'd first check the public library.

 

Edit: Should have read the whole thread, and I would've noticed purifier's post... Even so, at the library you can check out books free, unlike amazon.
