mur'phon Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Linky The relevant bit of the amendment: "This state or a political subdivision of this state may not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to marriage." So, any texans here who suddenly is no longer married?
Totenkopf Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Well, if it's merely a semantic error, it remains to be seen if the numbers are there to re-amend it accordingly.
Alkonium Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Well, that's one way of making marriage laws equal and indiscriminate.
Q Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Well, the page absolutely refuses to load, but I got the gist of it. Silly legislators.
Tobias Reiper Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Why? Why do this? None of them are gay, so gay marriage won't even affect them at ALL, why can't they just let gay couples be gay? I just don't get it.

mimartin Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Well they were worried that Gay marriage would destroy the institution of marriage. I find it poetic that they may have been the ones to destroy marriage with their malice to limit others’ rights. Proud to be a Texan, thank murph for pointing out the idiocies of my home state.
mur'phon Posted November 20, 2009 Author Posted November 20, 2009 @:Shem: this is a laughing matter the tree headed chimera thread in kavars isn't so I'd prefer to keep it nice and fun and Ahto. @:Mim: just doing my duty as a student of first world bashing.
mimartin Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 this is a laughing matter the tree headed chimera thread in kavars isn't so I'd prefer to keep it nice and fun and Ahto. 1st my state Then Kavar's. What is next? You going to talk about my mother.
mur'phon Posted November 20, 2009 Author Posted November 20, 2009 I'm afraid I'm not qualified to talk about your mother, but my uncle asures me she's a fantastic person in more ways than one:xp: Concerning kavars, I'm an adict who had to seek (somewhat) professional help to stay away from the place.
Q Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Well, this is Texas we're talking about, where 30 years ago you'd get life in prison for possession of a single joint. [/gross exaggeration]

[/gross exaggeration]Well, good thing I wasn't alive and in Texas 30 years ago, quick math dictates I'd be in jail for more than a few centuries...
