Alkonium Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Thoughts so far? I rather enjoyed The Eleventh Hour. Not exactly Steven Moffat's scariest work, but definitely the scariest season premiere yet.
Astrotoy7 Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I am extremely excited about this season! The Eleventh Hour was a tremendous season opener IMO. It even had some foreshadowing of what seems to be the next big evil the doc must avert.... the cracks in space-time and that the 'Silence will Fall' Matt Smith is great, and brings back some of the quirky and loveable eccentric dorkiness of the older doctors that DT didn't have. Last years Tennant specials were so lacklustre, but now Whovians worldwide are genuinely excited again. I'm still pondering what 'The Eleventh Hour' actually refers to - is it that Amelia has run off just before her wedding?? I loved the trailer at the end as well (which you can also get in 3D!). Seeing the Reveal hidden contents statues from Blink (my fave modern DW episode) was a great thrill.. and I even saw a glimpse of some Roman troops so they may be going back to that era again ....and the Reveal hidden contents Daleks who seem to be fighting for Britain in WW2........ phaw! Show spoiler (hidden content - requires Javascript to show) edit: Loved the steampunk Tardis(reminiscent of the McGann era Tardis a bit).... and the new opening theme was different, but still cool. The vortex has never looked murkier until I saw the credits, I really thought the guy in the ice cream truck was RTDavies mtfbwya
Revan 411 Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Good pilot. Enjoyed Matt Smiths performance of the new Doctor and definitely loved the new music they made. The plot wasn't bad either; quite enjoyable actually, and it's nice to see that the creators made it "Rookie Friendly" to new Doctor Who audiences. (Like me.) All in all, it's enjoyable, and I look forward to seeing more.
Astor Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I think the opening titles are awful (I've never been a fan of the TARDIS zooming around), and I really don't like the new title music. As for the Doctor, i'm really not sure, and i'm not too sure about his new companion either. I guess i'll have to watch more of them. (even if it turns out bad, it's about the only thing worth watching on a Saturday evening). I thought the episode was alright, although again, i'm still not sure what to make of it. Hopefully it'll pick up after a few episodes.
Astrotoy7 Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Astor said: ...and i'm not too sure about his new companion either. The backstory they gave to her ties her to the doctor very strongly. I cant think of any other companion that met the doc as a child, spent the next 14 years obsessed by him. It's a very powerful link - and I wonder if the writers are going to keep it 'just friends' because he has childhood link with her? It's interesting, that's for sure. Quote I've never been a fan of the TARDIS zooming around This would be disarming for people that are very used to the older series. IMO. if the clunky old daleks get to do it, so should the TARDIS mtfbwya

TP has wayy to much class to actively attack something like that anyway. PS. the new assistant is seriously hawt. I have a big weakness for red-headed women in mini-skirts. and Matt Smith is pretty cool aswell, if slightly too similiar to his predecessor Mr. Tennant.
GeneralPloKoon Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I'm really enjoying the new series! Although I loved RTD I love Moffat as well, Matt and Karen are great! But David is still my favorite!
