adamqd Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 "His influence on design will be felt forever. There's no doubt in our hearts that centuries from now amazing spaceships will soar, future cities will rise and someone, somewhere will say... "that looks like something Ralph McQuarrie painted." We Lost a Legend yesterday, Ralph McQuarrie, sadly passed away aged 82, after a 15 year struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Many of you will know of him, but those who dont, every time you see Star Wars, and any piece of merchandise, the very look and feel of that Galaxy far far away was brought to life if not envisioned by Ralph, Apart from George himself, we've lost perhaps the most influential person involved with the Star Wars Saga. he also did concept art for BSG, Star Trek, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, E.T among others. Rest in Peace. Ralph McQuarrie Remembered, by George Lucas Ralphmcquarrie.com
Blix Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 That's sad news, but he will be immortalized through his artwork which encapsulates the Star Wars universe and is inspiring to many young artists today. Rest in peace.
purifier Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 His artwork caught my eye when I first saw it on the cover of a book called Star Wars: Splinter Of The Mind's Eye by Alan Dean Foster. I've always enjoyed his artwork. R.I.P Ralph McQuarrie
Astor Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 His illustrations for Star Wars are beyond compare, but I love his drawings for Battlestar Galactica just as much. R.I.P.
