ReAcToR
The opening show(midnight - 18th) in my state was sold out when I went to buy tickets a few days early, but I didn't really want to stay up until the odd hours of the morning to see it anyways. I'm going to head out to see it today...matine(SP?)-style. I urge everyone to go see it, whether you've read the book or not. It's not everyday that one of the greatest movies of all time comes out. StormHammer
This is one film I really, really want to see on the big screen...but I'm having some health problems at the moment, so I'm not going to make it this week. *gnashes teeth to splinters in frustration*
KordKelly
This is one of the few movies I am really excited about seeing... I grew up (I'm just about 40) reading the masterworks from J.R.R. Tolkein, and the teasers I've seen really put you into Middle-Earth!!! Just think... Dec.2001, "The Fellowship of the Ring". Dec.2002, "The Two Towers" (or Twin Towers, depending on what part of the Earth you stand on;)) Dec.2003, "The Return of the King"!!! IcantwaitIcantwaitIcantwait!!!!! dasall [edit]Geez, SH, I hope it's nothing serious, and that your recovery is as swift as the wind:D[/edit]

ReAcToR
I just got back from seeing The Fellowship of the Ring and I have to say that it was wonderful. I won't spoil it for anyone by giving anything away, but they rarely strayed from the storyline of the books and when they did, it still worked out quite well. I think the movie was around 3 hours...I dunno...I just remember having to go to the restroom like 2 times during the movie. My girlfriend held it the whole time and you could tell that by the time the movie ended, she was about to explode! I think everyone will be impressed with the movie, even the hardcore book fans like myself, if they look at the changes in a practical manner, instead of just getting angry that there were any changes at all. It's obvious that alot of changes were made for time purposes...so they could go into more detail with the more important parts. GO SEE IT! Boba Rhett
I went to see the midnight show here. This post is kind of a review....kind of a, "Cool things from the movie I want to tell you about" thing. *There's probably spoilers in here* The movie starts with a description of what’s happened to the ring through time. From the forging of it and the other rings to when Bilbo found it. In these first scenes some of the coolest battles happen. "It shows the amazing battle were the ring is cut off of Saurons’ hand! SWEET!" It then goes to Gandalf going to Hobbiton blah blah blah you know the story. The only complaint I have about the first part of the movie was that it goes a bit to fast. They made trip, "as far as they got anyway" seem like it didn't take very long and it feels likes it's jumping a bit. This also causes you to wonder why the fellowship begins to care so much for each other. I only jumped one time during the movie and that was when Bilbo saw the ring again around Frodos’ neck and asks to see it. When Frodo started closing his shirt again so he couldn’t see it, Bilbo makes a little jump at him and you see him transform a little into kind of what Gollum looks like. In the battle were Boromir is killed, he takes three HUGE arrows to the chest from the leader orc/goblin thingy. The leaders about to shoot another one into his face but Aragorn stops him and they get into a big fight were Aragorn cuts the leaders arm off....at least I think he did, and then stabs him in the chest and cut his head off. The coolest part of this scene was that when the leader new that he had been defeated, "When he got stabbed in the chest" He grabbed Aragorn and pulled him forward so his whole sword went through him and growled at him. The movie ends with Gimli, Legolas, and Aragorn letting Frodo and Sam go and setting off to save Pippin and Marry. I am soooooo glad that I only have to wait a year for the next one. Did any of you get popcorn and pop at the midnight show? They wouldn't open the stands for us! Anyway, back on subject. Go see this movie. I don't care if you have to walk, crawl, bike, skydive, forgo the popcorn and pop, whatever. JUST DO IT. Score: a very well deserved
Millions o' Monkeys
geeze, we here in australia need to wait till the 26th. Im going to try and get some tickets within hte next few days if possible.
OnlyOneCanoli
That. Was. Awesome. I truly didn't think it would be nearly that good, but it blew me away. I have to be going to school now, so I'll be real quick. FOTR has the same epic feeling, atmosphere, and mood of the book. Incredibly well done. Most of the plot remains the same as in the book, but one majoy difference was making Saruman a major character, unlike in the book. Now, you really get the sense of evil from him (I really didn't feel that in the book). They also had a really nice exposition in the beginning too to kind of fill you in on the history of the Ring. There's also a love story for Aragorn, but no Tom Bombadil. Also, I liked the fact that not one character stole the show--it was more about the story rather than some star carrying it on his or her shoulders. I thought they did it very well. And Legolas is still a badass. He was my favorite character in the books too. Bah, I have to go.
Agen
*There's probably spoilers in here* Most people know what happens in the book.. most. Incredibly well done. Most of the plot remains the same as in the book, but one majoy difference was making Saruman a major character, unlike in the book. Now, you really get the sense of evil from him (I really didn't feel that in the book). Well In the book i got the feeling of since they didn't know too much abotu him and he was hidden and evil... they didn't know what they were going in for..... in the book it makes him as if it's all his evil that created the ring and when ur about to meet him in the book it gets u excited when they eventually see him i was surpirsed... actually when i first read it (i was 9) i was expecting him to be some osrt of Devil thing but i was quite surprised he looked liek a normal wizard. Anyway Sold-out here again
Ushgarak
Hmm- are you perhaps confusing Saruman and Sauron there? In the book Saruman is clearly defined as a human-looming wizard like Gandalf, and was never connected with the making of the Rings in any way. OnlyOneCanoli
There is also another MAJOR plot change that they implemented. I haven't read the books in a while, but I believe there is definitely a change in the fate of one of the characters in the fellowship.

[SWS]Strider
I saw it, I loved it. Ok actually I've seen it twice. Good movie, they skipped some parts but for only having 3 hours it was amazing. Strider kicked butt, IMO. Legolas was sweet too. All the characters looked like what I imagined them to. Some people got overly(sp?) picky and got upset because of small details. I would reccomend going to see this movie though it was pretty cool.
