What would you change about JKII?

What would I change? Quite a few things, mostly in SP, actually...

1. Increase the number of NPC's, adding pedestrians to the cities of Nar Shadaa and Bespin.

2. Remove some illogical puzzles.

3. Make the levels a lot less linear, offering alternative pathways to reach objectives. I didn't really like the Doomgiver levels, they had too much open space, which seemed unrealistic to me, so I'd redesign them.

4. Include better opportunities for using stealth throughout the game.

5. Increase the size, length and complexity of the SP campaign.

6. Redo all the cut-scenes with CGI...or for cut scenes with Kyle, do away with them altogether and remain in character while events unfold.

7. Put the moral mode of play back in...allowing you to turn to the Dark Side, with an appropriate alternative ending.

8. Tweak some of the MP aspects, add more default skins, maps, etc.

Basically, although Outcast is now one of my favourite games, it could have been a lot better - and I hope there's a third installment that contains much greater flexibility of gameplay.

I think level design was my biggest problem with it. In JK Nar Shaddar seem like a huge city but in JO we're only treated to one street. You end up feeling like you are in an enclosed level rather than part of a city.

I'd like to see them redo all the cutscenes in live action, too... Tavion as a live actress :bored:

More pedestrians that, if killed in cold blood, make you turn to the Dark Side...

Change Desaan into something intimidating, instead of Barney the Dinosaur on steroids :p

Make it so the sniper rifles can be blocked by lightsabers.

What would you change about JKII?? it can be ANYTHING no matter what. I would change it so there were Realistic cut-schenes like in DF2:JK

I see that everyone who wants real cutscenes understands that it is impossible to make Skywalker in any form (a) Impossible to make him younger, b) They even couldnt get the old actor back), and of course Dessan would be impossible to create, not to mention make Lando look 25 years younger, what else...

They could easily make them both look younger, but I'm willing to bet that Georgie wouldn't want those two to be back in live-action sequences as their old characters. Just a guess, mind you.

Also, I think live-action cutscenes were a fad, and it's passed, I like the cutscenes better this way, personally. It holds the characters down on the level at which you see them. If that makes any sense.

They already do.

I mean the alternate fire of the disruptor rifle.

a) Who cares? You got another voice talent to play Luke--just get another actor

b) See my responce to a.

c) Desaan would have to be CG, just like Gork and Pic were in Dark Forces 2. Just put a blue hood over a 7' tall guy and add in a head. Or better yet, use a character besides Desaan. Like I said, he's Barney on steroids! A Dark Jedi Gungan would be more intimidating!

d) Billy Dee looks the same as he ever looked.

I gotta say, I really missed the live cutscenes. They made you want to beat the levels. Without them, I kinda got the sense that there was little incentive to keep going. That was true for the force powers too. You didn't get to choose, which kinda bothered me. Personally, I never use grip and lightning in single player, and would much rather of had the opportunity to use things like protect and force seeing.

That's just me though. The number one thing I miss the most about the cutscenes though? JAN!!! She was amazing in JK. I was really looking forward to seeing more of her and the fact that we didn't kinda upset me.

Add more bosses. I mean really:

Desann - Barney on steroids as mentioned. The voice is cool, but the character isn't.

Tavion - What the hell? Girl with a gotie and a bird in her hair? Looks like some wierd outfit my sister would wear if she were on crack.

Fyyar - Ok, this guy was pretty cool, but I thought the mech could look even cooler. I mean, he looked like one of those mech lifter things that Ripley used at the end of Alien 2. Especially after seeing those freaky droids that came out of them boxes, I was expecting something way cooler and more Mechwarrior like.

COMPARED TO:

Yun - I love this guy! Greatest dark jedi you ever get to fight, the playability was what made this guy cool.

Gorc & Pic - Come on, brothers of the sith? With Gorc's huge saber and Pic doing the Yoda thang, didn't get much cooler than this duo!

Maw - Floating badass hurricane. 'Nuff said.

Sariss - Mmmm... Now this is what la femme fatal should be like. Sleek, sexy and smooth. Not to mention cool and collected. Damn nice in the cutscenes too.

Boc - Dual sabers? Need anyone say more?

Jerec - The king of the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series. Getting to fight a blind swordsman is wicked. And he was pretty freaky to fight.

PHASE III DARK TROOPER - The GOD of the series. This guy kicked serious ass. Fyyar eat your heart out!!!

Ahem, yes they could have done better bad guys. They should have an "Epic Battles" addon where there are all the old/new skins (DF, JK, EU, EP. 1,2,4,5,6, 3 even?) and epic areas to battle it out.

Who wouldn't love to see a dark trooper go up against Qui-Gonn? Or Dooku vs. Leia?

So many possibilities...

I agree with Stormhammer about the NPC's - I think there should have been tons of them on Nar Shadda and Bespin. Like in the bar, there should have been a ton of NPC's who all scrambled when the sh*t hit the fan. Likewise scattered on the streets. Also in Bespin - by the time you were at street-level it should have been busy. However, comparing these to the empty streets of Hong Kong in SoFII ... nevertheless, NPC civilians seems the easiest way they could have made the game environments more believable. Or .. they could have explained it in a simple cutscene. When Kyle and Lando were talking, Lando could have said that the Remnant had cleared Cloud City, and Kyle could have said 'I noticed Nar Shadda was pretty empty, except for Reelo's thugs' ... done.

As for the cutscenes, I was actually happy with them. I'm glad there was only one of those - we call this a level but you have no weapons, no enemies, just walk around and explore the temple a bit and eventually find luke - levels. SoFII seemed to have way to many of those ...

For the bosses, it seemed about right to me. Dessann is just establishing himself, and is sticking closer to the 1 master / 1 apprentice credo than the Jerec model. I liked Fyyar because I hated facing him so much. I do wish there were more physical models for beings than the single humanoid with various looks we seem to get - that is someplace that JK1 ruled, the variety of the saber-wielding bosses.

For the levels, I also agree - less linear, more branching options, opportunities for stealth without requiring it. That pretty much describes my complaint list for all of the new games I've played in the last 9 months (RtCW, MoH:AA, JKII and SoFII. I like the fact that you can choose not to drive the walker, and still make it through (unlike that **!^$$@ tank mission in MoH!), but Kyle seems wimpy looking out at about 10 soldiers when he proclaimed the stealth necessity. I would have loved a room of about 250 stormies, 25 officers, cannons, and so on. Sneak by if you choose, or prepare to show just how '1337' you skillz are ;)
