Nvidia GForce 4 Ti 128 mb

00M-187

Recommended Posts

I just got this card installed and man is it better, I was running a 3DFX 3500 TV 16 mb before and was sluggish, I was testing 1280 x1024 in Narshadda, was great, I noticed it wasnt perfectly smooth at times but way better, I couldnt even play that level before...

My question,, I have 190 mb of ram and 450 P3 CPU, now the game runs great, but its not perfectly smooth at times, Im trying to figure out why, Could I need more RAM??? CPU upgrade, what do you think? I want it to run perfect.... at 1280 x 1024 I am also going to reinstall my OS, having some other performance issues,

Any suggestions?

but what kind of vid card did you have? I think im gonna throw some more RAM in there, see how that goes.

Eh, honestly, just down the resolution.. I'm willing to bet you can't even tell the difference between 1280 x1024 and 1024 x 786. You can also turn off little things that you may not even notice.. wall marks.. tone down the shadows the just simple..

I mean, seems frivilous to spend at least 50 bucks to add just a few FPS

00M-187, you have a kick ass graphics card. (i salute you) but if i were you i'd buy a big heat sink and fan and overclock your cpu (unless you have a slot 1 in which case you may need to upgrade) also try to upgrade the ram to at least 256 mb (ddr preferable)

the graphics card can obviously handle running jo with the highest detail, but the rest of the computer may not. other tips would be to un-install any programs to don't use, run disk cleanup, defrag to give your computer a quicker hard disk access time.

Actually one of settings in the card is to over clock the GPU!!! how amazing, I love it, you can select it to automatically overclock the GPU and it sets it to an appropraite level. I think first im gonna do a complete system rebuild. Ive tried the obvios defrag and everything didnt really help. The game runs well aty 1280 with maxed settings, but periodically it gets the slightest bit jumpy, I just want it to run completely smooth.

I highly recomend this card.

i meant overclock your cpu (pIII 450) because having a better graphics card will make your processor work harder. which is probably why it's not running smooth. so get a big heat sink and fan and try overclocking it (to at least 650 if you can) so it can keep up.

Its not really "recomended" to overclock CPU's I dont want to waste my CPU, ill try system rebuild first then RAM, well see...

Well, first cleaning his disc of unused programs would only help during loading times, not during actual game play.. and overclocking your CPU is not the best thing to do for your CPU, and it really doesn't have much of an affect.. it's basically like revving the engine of a car..

listen to people

NEW PROCESSOR

ram wont help u ... it may even slow u down ... if there's too much ram the cpu cant keep up with it

get a bottom of the range DDR athlon XP and some DDR ram .... (or keep yer SDRAM and hunt for a Thunderbird) u dont need more than that

Lol. I can't have more than 256 MB RAM. That's the max it can take :(

I had one like 5 days ago. Got a Geforce 4,ti 64 DDR mb,and I love it. My old tnt2 couldnt run America's Army,battlefield 1942, everything I couldnt run at top quality. Now I can/ :)

Ive discoverd my problem, first I added 32 mb of extra ram and noticed a difference right away, then I discoverd I have some old 3dFX service running that I cant disable and or uninstall, this is causing conflicts. Once I do a complete rebuild everything should be running great,

Although I still encounter very slow loading times, I have 224 ram and a 128 mb card, how can this be??? I also have large page files.
