If there was a way to that I could reach into my screen and grab you by the neck I would.

The Luke -V- Vader had EMOTION! It wasn't some power ranger with a better weapon. The original three had you at the edge of your seat rooting for luke!

To tell you the truth in the new ones I don't give a damn who dies, as long as someone does. The whole episode 2 I wanted someone to rape Anakin and kill him.

George Lucas has turned sissy, this film wasnt for little kids in the first place, I think it should be a 12 certificate, and it needs more emotion, not boring jumping out of speeders and "We came to rescue you" "good job.."

Come on we dont need that! Wheres all the good parts? I was dissappointed an episode 2 :disaprove naughty George, very naughty.....

Hey hey now... no need to get all angry at little Annie....

I'd say the whole underlying theme of the corrupted republic turning into the brutal empire isn't exactly kid's stuff. The movie *is* darker than every other SW flick, expecting perhaps episode 5.

I think nostalgia may be messin' with some of you - in time, the generation that saw the new SW movies will think the same of future sci fi movies - only relating to ep1-2-3 instead.

And Star Wars is practically the incarnation of cheesiness - take a good look at the old movies before you accuse the new ones of being silly and cheezy.

Oh boy... a Lucas bashing thread... what fun

Episode I might've been a little bit kiddish, but the main character was a kid, and back then, the Republic was innocent. SW1 was not that epic--it involved the plight of one planet. Nobody thought that it was a matter of galactic importance... that is until they find out that the invasion of Naboo was the one thing that gave Palpatine enough sympathy to make him Emperor.

We are seeing the birth of the Empire, here! We're watching as a just Republic "rotted from within, though the danger was not visible from the outside". Things are getting darker and darker... the battle's spreading, the plots are being revealed, the Jedi are being overwhelmed and replaced. Lucas said that SW3 will be so dark that he's afraid it won't appeal to anyone.

I laughed when Yoda took off like a bottlerocket and started kicking butt, but I was laughing because of the simple thrill of it. The Force can animate this 874-year-old crippled midgit into a powerhouse!

Star Wars was never cheesy... there were some cheesy elements, but the story is a great myth. Episode I, at its darkest heart, is not cheesy, even though the mood is mostly carefree.

Oh... and the commercial's not "Yoda da man", it's "Yoda man".

I'd say SW is *very* cheesy, though it depends on what you put in the word - Alec Guinness (Obi1) felt humiliated by doing his role: He found "Use the force luke" to be so bad acting that he felt ashamed he even did it, right after it hit big.

The silly one-liners between Han and Leia aren't "adult-oriented", they're just plain cheese.

Don't make me mention C3PO and the dreaded ewoks :/

Maybe, the SW saga as a *whole* isn't that well done, but personally I was thrilled seeing all of the movies, entertained even, and I'm looking very much forward to episode 3.

We can hope that Epi 3 will create a darker feel and add more character depth than the prior 1 and 2 episodes. I miss how 4,5,6 were created, it wasn't the pure saber battling that gave most interest; it was the storyline and revealing talks between two jedi during fights.

Is this the offensive material that Legion posted?

Doesn't seem very ridiculous to me, quite the contrary really.

I haven't seen Episode II yet...and I certainly haven't seen any commercial with Yoda in it...but if it's even marginally better than TPM, I'll be marginally more satisfied. :)

Anyway...I grew up on a diet of the Classic trilogy...and some of the comments made here are pertinent. Yes, there are some cheesy bits, and some bad acting, and all the rest of it. I prefer ESB to the other two, myself...but I just watch them all for fun. Star Wars is like a roller-coaster ride, and I just go along to have fun. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

If I want deeper and more meaningful SF, I'll go and watch Blade Runner, or 2001, or Silent Running. :)

Some of your oppinions of Episodes 1 and 2 are a little sad.

They arn't childrens movies. I now lots of children and there way to concered with pokemon to bother with star wars, what kids do you know?

Most people I know (kids and adults included) think episode 1 wasn't as good as the others but none of them disregard it as badly as some of you, and you guys are the star wars fans!

I don't know if it's because your the fans and were expecting more or somthin, but even though Jar Jar was kinda childish, the darth maul and qui-gon battle was plenty good. And ep2 was great, just as good as the other star wars movies, whats wrong with you.

well I've said my 2 cents.

I agree with Mandalorian54, I quite enjoyed both Ep1 and 2, I thought they where great. But to have a commercial as childish and ridiculous as "Yoda Da Man" is apolling! Give the movie more credit then that... Unbelievable, who ever created that commercial (not George Lucas) ((I take back my previos comment)) is a crack head.

Next thing you know where gonna have Mace Windu in EP3 saying "that is wack, yo" and "Mace windu in tha house!" or something equally as stupid as "Yoda da Man"

that commercial is so dumb, in fact, that whole scene in the movie was dumb. Lucas only put that in to get a few cheap laughs from the audience. in the OT, Yoda was like Ghandi. He was wise. he was cool. he didnt need to go all swinging the saber and yelling to show everyone how cool and great he was.

now in ep 2 he goes off flying off walls and stuff and the whole scene was just....dumb. It was like if Ghandi had opened up a can of whoop-*ss. ]

and another rant that's not related to that is jango. Sure he's cool and all, b ut he constantly takes off that helmet every oppurtuntity he gets. what's up with that? That's like breaking an unwritten rule. I guess he got what was coming to him when his real head came off. hehehe....

and lastly, Yoda is not even a man! He's a muppet!!!

You seek to prove your "they are just as good" statement by telling us that the battles were good. The battles being good does not a good movie make....unless you are a child. I think perhaps you are the child this thread is speaking of. You can not be much older then say...early teens?

After all an adult would have realized that Ep. 1 was a movie entirely consumed by a silly race and had very few serious moments, even the droids are engulfed by the effort engage the young sense of humor. The lightsaber battles, while magnificently done, lack the rage and power of the original. An adult will notice when a battle is made to "look cool" but he will prefer the battle that gives the audience an emotional charge.

Ep. 2 was filled with a very shallow romantic sub plot that was so rushed that one has trouble believing that she would actually fall for such a man-child. The actor chosen to play anakin was of bottom barrel quality obviously chosen for his looks, and his ability to convey emotion was unfortunate.

The entire plot of Ep. 2 was rushed, and while once again it had good battle scenes, the plot was poor and will not inspire all age groups the way the original series did.

Had the original Star Wars movies never been made, these new one would not get half the audience they are getting.
