00M-187
Whatever you do, dont buy TPM fullscreen, yesterday I picked up the AOTC\TPM 2 pack, and let me tell you AOTC full screen is AMAZING!, BUT, the TPM fullscreen version is horrid!!! its so grainy and pixelated, it looks like VHS quality. I dont know what kind of **** job they did on the conversion but its bad!!! Do yourself a favor, dont buy TPM fullscreen! AOTC fullscreen is damn amazing tho! Taos
Believe me when I tell you that AOTC is better in the widescreen format then the fullscreen. There is so much going on in AOTC that you can't possibly see it all in the full screen version.....

I have a regular TV now, but when I get a wide screen one I'll get the widescreen version DVDs. And BTW, Leemu, there's an animated version of your avatar sitting over in The Matrix Revolution thread. If you don't want it I'll take it down. BCanr2d2
Why bother with the pan and scan 4:3 versions of any movie. They lack the clarity and full picture.......... At least the proper fullscreen is better than the pretend widescreen one of our free to air channels tries to broadcast... It has small bars at the top and bottom, like it should be the 4:3 version of a film, but it is really the 16:9 version, as so much of the text is missing off the end of the screen
Darth Groovy
I don't have a wide screen TV and I have been buying widescreen movies for years. I think what did it for me was I had seen Apocalypse now on Cinimax long time ago, and I loved the movie so much I went to buy it. The local video store didn't have it in stock but offered to order it for me. When It arrived it said "Letterbox" on the front. I asked the clerk and they had said that was the only version that was available. Well I loved it, because Apocalypse Now is one of those movies similar to AOTC in that every shot has thousands of different things going on at once. Ever since then I always buy the movie in Widescreen format if it is available, the black bars don't bother me a bit. On a similar note I remember watching A New Hope over and over before the "Special Edition" came out. When I went to the theater, there is one particualar scene where Vader is talking to Leia on Tantive IV and there is an officer standing next to vader during that scene. On the video I had, that officer was never there! I mean damn you lose a whole guy on the pan and scan version!!!!! Why Bother, I don't know about you guys, but I prefer to get as much out of a movie as money can buy!!!

AOTC fullscreen is so crisp and clear, but for some reason TPM fullscreen is really grainy, looks like VHS
Surfnshannon
could you just be noticing the difference between a "digital film" and a reg one?? I'm going to go home and look at my TPM DVD...I think it is widescreen...but quite possibly full.

Fullscreen DVDs are a travesty, no matter what kind of TV you have.

Pseudonym
I didn't know there were two different versions when I picked it up. :-x I just grabbed one and got in the line cuz it was long and there was traffic on the way home. I got the fullscreen version, but it's okay cuz i have a 19" tv and it's a bitch trying to watch widescreen on it, everything's so small.

Ratmjedi
I don't have a widescreen tv. I have a 27'' size tv. I still think that the widescreen is good. If you want a better look just zoom in. Widescreen is the best way to watch movies whether you have a regular tv or a widescreen.
Surfnshannon
okay so here is something that will help us....( a little homage to LOTR) since it is all fresh in our minds. Skate Boy
I've always liked Widescreen, you get to see much more, as STTCT's pics show.

teutonicknight
I agree, wide screen is sooo much better than full. Then again, I have a 32 inch screen I feel sorry for you Pseudonym....
BCanr2d2
Well, did anyone notice the "Stretched" picture of AOTC in the normal cinema print? That left noticable graininess on the picture... Anyway, what I was getting at is that you do miss much of the small details on the side of the shot, when in pan and scan 4:3. If you watch the same scenes full screen and widescreen on VHS you will notice it quite a lot, that the picture on the fullscreen dead set sucks.... DVD's, now that is another matter.....
