I just got this from "Aint It Cool" website:

Hey folks, Harry here. Today I was contacted by a source inside the Cartoon Network that said it was about time I figured out they were doing something with Lucas and STAR WARS. It seems that they are not in advance talks for the CLONE WARS, they've signed the deal. It's done. Complete... A Sure Thing.

The format will be serialized shorts to keep with the Star Wars Serial motif. These will not be half hour adventures, but more in the line of short films. These animated shorts will play inbetween two regular half hour cartoons in a fixed slot.

Genndy Tartakovsky (SAMURAI JACK fame) will produce - and the early development designs have evidently been pretty close to SAMURAI JACK in style, thus far, but currently they are in the middle of a whole new set of designs, so my source at the Cartoon Network isn't sure exactly how it'll come out, just the path they've been on thus far.

Well Genndy Tartakovsky is my favourite cartoonist, Dexter's Lab and Samurai Jack are my favourite cartoona, I even did websites for them, even though I don't maintain them anymore, they are still very popular.

With Genndy behind the Star Wars cartoons, I forsee them being absolutely great! I can't wait. :)

This is the worst thing I've ever heard in my entire life... Star Wars in Samurai Jack style? No! I had high hopes for this but if that's the style they're going to pursue than... bah... Star Wars should be done in a realistic form of animation, not that abstract crap

Well I have to totally disagree with you. Samurai Jack is far from 'crap'! It has amazing animation, stunning backgrounds and awesome music. I for one would choose GT over any other cartoonist out there!

:drop2: Are you klidding me? It's like Powerpuff Girls on steroids, only it's not cutesy enough to make the style worthwhile! If there's gonna be a Star Wars cartoon, it deserves to have the quality of an Anime.

omg, *in John McEnroe voice* You cannot be serious! You seriously want Star Wars to be done in crappy anime style! Gimme Samurai Jack anyday compared to that 'all the characters look the same' rubbish. I would say anime is much closer to the PPG than Jack. I guess each to their own, we will have to agree to disagree.

I have no idea when it will air. They're still designing the look of the show. I just hope its good and serious. Anyone remember the "Star Wars" Saturday morning cartoon show from the 1980's? It was called "DROIDS". It was about the adventures of R2-D2 & C3P0, and holy crap was it bad :p . You can still catch it every now and again on the Boomerang Channel. :)

Just my 2 cents on the Samurai Jack / Anime thing...

I'd rather NOT have a cartoon based on Star Wars. I think all the EU books and comic books are bad enough. Why keep degrading Star Wars until it's as laughable as Star Trek?

Anyone besides me remember the horrible Christmas special? Lucas still has nightmares about it, I'm sure.

*throws a horde of rocks at Obi-Wan 13*

i'm not sayin that star wars should be drawn in anime form. i like samurai jack but i cannot picture SW drawn like that. i'm not too sure how this should be done but if they can pull it off i at least can give it a look to see if i'm gonna like it or not.
