yeah I've seen de Extended edition.

And its pretty cool.

It makes some scenes much clearer now.

And it's not like most directorscuts or special editions that only a few scenes are changed.

But with LOTR it is changed the whole film (for the better in my opinion.)

Just a few weeks to got for TTT;)

The only reason "Lord of the Rings - the Fellowship of the Ring" got a Special Edition DVD makeover was because the film sucked so much it needed four discs to sell copies. I'm sorry if there are "Lord of the Rings" fans reading this, but the film was utter bollocks from beginning to (a rather distand) end. I hope the latest installment never passes before my eyes, otherwise I might just rip them out in frustration...

Or maybe to save me the agonising three hours of dull boredom that usually follow the intro sequence.

I saw it a few days ago, the only part I didn't like was having to change disks half-way through :(

I think LOTR shouldn't have been cut-down, the SE filled in a lot more information for me (I haven't read the books ;))

I liked the special edition a lot :D

My dad bought it. Its got great special features and new scenes but ya it gets too long after a while. I hate having to change discs. They should have both the original and extended versions in the set.

And did anyone else have the unfortunate discovery of the spoof scene at the end of the first disc? The one with Jenifer Love Hewitt and that other dude(dont know his name)? Sort of funny but disturbing.:eyeraise: Could have been a lot better.:roleyess:

I think it is pretty good myself! I just haven't had a chance to watch all of it.......there is so much to see! I'm glad I picked it up! :D

A little bonus that I thought was cool was the free ticket to see TTT!!! I can't wait to use that! :D

Well, I couldn't wait to get the movie, so I bought the two disc set back in August...

...now I have no money left, and buying the film again, though it has lots of new features, is kind of pointless. Still, I'm waiting mainly for TTT. Want to see how Golumn and Treebeard turnout;)lol

You haven't seen the trailer yet?

They are both in it.

Yeah I found that to be quite stupid aswell, I had caught wind of the SE dvd just before the original came to video so I was lucky. The fact i work in a video store and opened one of the newly aquired films which came with a coupon for the SE movie made me feel like whoever bought that version was utterly cheated. So rightfully so I snagged that coupon for myself and got a discount on the movie :)

As far as the SE goes it is a must for a true fan of the book, Crucial things as small as they were to the typical viewer make all the difference to someone who has read the book. The first time I saw the movie I was shocked that some of that stuff had been left out and was overjoyed when I heard it would be available after. The other benefit that I appreciated the most was the revamped sound. 6.1 DTS surround sound is superb, Even if I had bought the original version, after seeing the SE I would have no complaints in buying the SE, it's worth owning.

The Extended Edition sets up the other movies a lot better, or at least will make a few things in TTT and ROTK make a little more sense.

I listened to it with the DTS ES soundtrack, and it rocked. With the less compression on DTS ES (The reason for the two discs for the movie) the sound had a lot more detail to it.

  • 2 weeks later...

Do you live in Beverly Hills?

It should only cost $29.99 for the 4 disc set itself. There is also a another thing where you can buy it and it has a making of by National Geographic and it comes with these little statuets and it comes with the 4 disc set too.
