Name Episode 3!

Sorry, but the one's you named are too cool. They want something that will forever shame the SW name like "Jar-Jar's revenge: Meesah pissed-ofa sir!" or "Star Wars episode 3: Super Troopers". Know what I mean? I hated the title for ep. 2. Attack of the clones? WTH. With all the money they dumped into advertising you think they could come up with something better like "Shroud of the Sith" or "Yoda wigs out"

Here's some:

The Emperors vendetta

Fate of the Jedi

The last hope (would go well with ANH)

Campaign of sorrow

Fall of the republic

Death in the stars

The Empire is born.

Enter the Wookie

Star Wars Episode 3: Hey you there!

Nah - compare so far:

Ep4 - A New Hope

Ep1 - The Phantom Menace

Both refer to a new factor entering the Galactic equation, one which is linked to something from long ago...

Ep5 - The Empire Strikes Back

Ep2 - Attack of the Clones (POOOHHEE!!)

The s**t hits the fan. The establishment takes on the little people and wins. Why have I phrased it thus - the 'establishment' of Ep2 was Old Republic, in Ep5 was Empire. The OR were trying to be good guys, even if the story actually plays out that, without realising it, they were on the wrong side. Empire were bad. Period.

Ep 6 - Return of the Jedi

A returning faction that tips the balance from how it was (Dark to Light)

Therefore the most likely names for Ep 3 are:

Return/Resurgance/Revenge of the Sith

Fall of the Jedi

And of them all, the MOST MOST MOST likely is:

Revenge of the Sith.

Why:

1) George orginally had Ep6 down as revenge of the Jedi (we all know this story, so wont elaborate). Now he can use the word revenge without -ve feedback.

2) It is not so much Return or Resurgance of the Sith, as there are still only the two of them. They are not rebuilding the Sith, they are merely taking the revenge wanted by their people for so long.

But there is another factor - George's ineptness for prequel naming... I am NOT gonna try and think like him - thats would be scary. Period.

So there -

Revenge of the Sith

I like...

Episode 3: Fall of the Republic

What you have to notice is that, in the titles, one word is never used twice between films...

The Phantom Menace

Attack of the Clones

A New Hope

The Empire Strikes Back

Return of the Jedi

Soo, I think Fall of the Republic would fit well. Alternatively, they could use a title that would be loved and celebrated by all:

Episode 3: The Long and Torturous Death of Jar Jar Binks

;)lol

Do you guys think that Yoda fled because he was scared or because he could see that Luke would be the one to bring balance and that his own survival was essential to Luke's success? I mean, cuz I see Yoda as far from a coward..he has got to be the most skilled saberist..and I think that Lucas felt the need to show everyone that Yoda is not a force to be reckoned with because of the simple fact that he chose to show Yoda's true potential in Episode II.

It's an interesting point to compare ep 1 to 4, 2 to 5, and 3 to 6, but I don't think that was intentional. Phantom Menace refers more to the sith lurking in the shadows of the republic. It's a more general title than ANH, which refers mostly to Luke "the Goldenboy" Skywalker. Also, GL has never involved the sith with the plot enogh to show how they really came to be. He just kind of mentioned their name here and there as a threat to the jedi. The underlying theme is that good guys will prevail. This, however, will be the only movie where the bad guys will truely be victorious.

It follws a pretty basic 3 movie setup. He new he was only doing three in the 70s and 80s, so the titles have a beginning, middle, and end title to them. Episode 3 will be closure. I see him using a more flashy name to draw attention to the final movie.

Also, the title will probably be a more positive title because he's trying to appeal to a younger audience (and their parents). It's obvious with the introduction of Jar-jar and other goofy charectors that they want to appeal to kids for marketing. I don't see "Revenge" or "destruction" in the title. Maybe something like "Rise of the Sith" or "Shadow of the Republic"

Who can say what's going through Lucas' mind? Some of the titles you've already come up with sound quite noble...but if the last couple of titles are anything to go by, George is being inspired by the likes of Flash Gordon...

The Phantom Menace = The Unseen Peril (Flash Gordon, Episode 10)

Attack Of The Clones = Attack Of The Giant Killer Tomatos, OR Attack Of The 50 Foot Woman

...so who knows where he's going next?

There is another Flash Gordon episode that looks promising...

Doom Of The Dictator...might become Doom Of The Jedi
