guybrush guy Posted December 10, 2002 Posted December 10, 2002 i went to http://www.adventuregamers.com and i looked at the news post about ScummVM, i read on the page that it can run on DreamCast. ( http://www.adventuregamers.com/newsitem.php?id=269 ) i went to the website and i found nothing to support this...does anybody know more info about it? if you do please post it.
mercatfat Posted December 10, 2002 Posted December 10, 2002 Yes, it's really cool. I love playing DOTT and Sam and Max on a TV. All you need is a CD-R drive and original game discs. Burn the ScummVM program, it'll boot by itself in any Dreamcast thanks to a loophole in the DC hardware. Swap in your game disc and you're good to go.
Jake Posted December 10, 2002 Posted December 10, 2002 There's no Dreamcast binary of 0.3.0 though. You should ask in #scummvm on irc.freenode.net
guybrush guy Posted December 11, 2002 Author Posted December 11, 2002 thanx..you guys were realy helpfull!!!!
guybrush guy Posted December 11, 2002 Author Posted December 11, 2002 ok..i got ScummVM and burned it to a CD-R and every thing is okey dokey..and then when i put it in my DreamCast it does'nt work..so i'm guessing that i might need a previous version of the program...does anybody know which version i need?
mercatfat Posted December 11, 2002 Posted December 11, 2002 That's probably because you burned the raw files instead of a disc image like Nero of Discjuggler. The disc needs an audio track to boot. Alternatively, http://rh14225.rh142.rh-tec.com/data/packs/gam_dem/ScummVM.zip Get that and use... http://rh14225.rh142.rh-tec.com/data/Sbinducr.exe ..Selfboot Inducer to make an image file out of the .sbi file in the SCUMMvm.zip, then burn in Discjuggler or Nero, whichever format you said you wanted it in. I'll leave the rest to you.
elTee Posted December 11, 2002 Posted December 11, 2002 I wanna dreamcast. I wanna do this. How does it work? Doesn't it just play in the top corner of the TV?
mercatfat Posted December 13, 2002 Posted December 13, 2002 You burn it correctly, you swap in the disc with a game on it. You play. It's full screen, of course. Just like Maniac Mansion, Loom and Monkey Island on the good old consoles.
Ender Posted December 13, 2002 Posted December 13, 2002 I just got the 0.3.0b binaries for the DreamCast from MarcusC last night - they should be posted to the ScummVM website in an hour or so.
Ender Posted December 13, 2002 Posted December 13, 2002 Actually, I lie. It'll probably be tommorow, the file I was sent doesn't contain any insructions on how to add new games to it Originally posted by Ender I just got the 0.3.0b binaries for the DreamCast from MarcusC last night - they should be posted to the ScummVM website in an hour or so.
Vyse Posted December 14, 2002 Posted December 14, 2002 This is too much...Yeeeehaww. Now to get that burner..
elTee Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 Y'know, all the old sonic games from the megadrive are being released on the gamecube in a bargain price set. I wish LucasArts would do this with thier old adventures. Or Revolution. Or Adventure Soft. Or anyone who ever made a half decent adventure game!! I mean, the playstation one has Broken Sword 1 & 2, and Discworld 1 & 2. Even the goddam GBA has Broken Sword!!
Benny Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 There was a revolution pack for pc with Beneath a Steel Sky, Broken Sword 1 and 2 and Lure of the Temptress too I think. It isnt sold anymore though.
elTee Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 Yeah, Total Revolution it was called. Released on the PC briefly, I only ever saw it on amazon for about £12, a real bargain. However, all four games are still on general release. Obviously, some are harder to find than others, but try Sold Out software.
Benny Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 Yeah sold out do broken sword 1 and 2. It looks like they did BASS too at one time. Not any more though, meh
elTee Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 Well, only last year I chanced upon a copy of BASS at my local curry's in the £5 games bin. It was a sold out version. And I've seen about 3 copies of Lure of the Temptress in second hand shops and on the market since I got my copy when it was still available in HMV.
ZeroXcape Posted January 2, 2003 Posted January 2, 2003 I considered buying a dreamcast just for my SCUMM games... than I deceided that I really wanted a nice PDA to play 'em. Now I think I'm back to the dreamcast. If anyone is getting rid of one, drop me a PM. Otherwise, it's e-bay time.
Ender Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 I might as well mention Revolution has sent the ScummVM team the sourcecode to BASS, in case we are intrested in adding support for it. And we probably will, after we finish all the SCUMM stuff Originally posted by LucasTones Well, only last year I chanced upon a copy of BASS at my local curry's in the £5 games bin. Ender Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 Nah, it'll be this year *G* Originally posted by bgbennyboy Hooray! BASS support in 2012 !!
mercatfat Posted January 6, 2003 Posted January 6, 2003 Endy, where are the new binaries? I'm desperate.

You can grab a NERO v5 image here: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/scummvm/scummvm_0.3.0b-dreamcast_nero.zip An IP.BIN ecetra archive might be coming later, for those more geeky types that like getting their hands dirty and making their own selfboot cds
