Lunatic Jedi
When I took a close look at the spam details in the forum code of conduct. I was a little bit upset. These are the parts that I considered rather... well... wrong. You should not consistently be able to look up at your screen and see that the majority of topics or messages on a page were just created or posted by you. But what if every one of those threads you created or posted on were meaningful discussions? Maybe if all those posts were just nonsense and were made simply for the sake of raising your post count, then they should be deleted, but not just because they were all made by the same person. To Discuss: To talk about a subject in detail. To Chat: To talk in a light, familiar way. Informal talk. (ie one sentence posts such as, "I agree" etc.) Chatting is considered spamming and will be dealt with accordingly in the Valley of the Jedi forum and other JKII-related boards, but will be tolerated in Yoda's Swamp. OMFG. So if a post is ever made with less than two sentences, its instantly spam? A lot can be said in only one sentance. If the post is only one sentence, but still contributes to the discussion and stays on the topic, is it still spam? If it were just a few random and completely irrelevant words regarding something entirely unrelated to the topic, then yes it would be considered spam. But one sentence posts cannot be called spam if they are still intelligent. IMHO, I think the definition of spamming should be changed to something along the lines of "random, irrelevant posting that is made simply to raise one's post count or to annoy others." I remember at this old forum that I used to go to (this was the one that I used to be a mod at) and there was a guy named Spaminator who would make posts that were utterly h00j and repeated words over and over and over and over again. It was incredibly annoying. Of course, I didn't become a mod for another few months, and by then he had been gone for a while. Its a shame, too. If he had still been around he would have posed a good challenge for me. I never saw much action in my time as a mod. *Sigh* Those were the days... BCanr2d2
I think the mods seem to take into account what is said in posts, if they think it is spam. I've never seen someone get told to stop spamming by posting one sentence replies....

Reb Starblazer
Obviously they don't strictly enforce that definition of spam, or at least half of the people in the Swamp would have been banned by now, for excessive spamming. However, I personally find that one or two sentance posts are spam. To see someone reply with "Yep, I agree.", or "No, I don't, now STFU." just irks me. These posts are technically still about the topic and are continuing discussion, but they're just blatant spam to me. Or even worse, to see someone make a post and then two or three posts later, they will have another post about two sentances long, that could have easily just been edited onto their last. That my friends, is spam. And it happens here more than you'd like to believe. However, as I said earlier, they obviously don't strictly enforce it, lines will always be drawn and pushed back, and exceptions will always be made. It's just the way it is. No justice that is fair, is absolute. and to steal a line from Kal... Luckily for excessive spammers, Reb Starblazer's opinions do not necessarily reflect those of the management
Mex
If this forum was very very strict then there would be all nerds on here going "The x76 of the 985ds is just wrong, its the utio006 of the x5!" But because this forum isnt that strict, we have all turned insane because this swampy water has rottened our brains.

obi
You know damn well what spam is. If it's spam, we all know it. Simple.
TheHobGoblin
This Forums defination of spam is correct. I think some of the rules are to avoid the beginning of spam then if those are broken they mods must give warnings or bans. I used to be a mod and believe me I know what spam is. I hate it when people try to say the rules are unagreeable

Luc Solar
I almost wish someone would take away the ranking-system just like Bioware did on their boards. I challenge you all to find 10 posts that I've ever made that could be, even strickly speaking, remotely considered as spam. Spamming annoys me. Some twerp racks up twice my hard-earned post count in a matter of days if he/she/it wants to. That is lame. If I posted the way some people do, my post-count would be about 8.000! Spamming pointless...spam...just in order to gain ranks (and thus be "really cool") is pathetic. It basicly destroys the whole point in having ranks (and slows down the boards). Spam is easy to recognise, 'cause when someone is doing it, they tend to do it A LOT. I say that if the post-counts would disappear, so would most of the spam. Kids wanting to gain respect.... As for the definition of spam in the Code Of Conduct --> they're basicly symptoms that might help you notice that you might want to take it easy on your posting. Short posts aren't automatically spam, we all know that. It becomes spam when it is totally pointless. If someone asks what TTT was like, replying with "Dunno, haven't seen it" is BS. Naturally someone can post a lot and "dominate" the first page without spamming...I know I have
