whitedragon
there is another thing that i wish to share. i visited my mom for christmas afew days ago and we went to TTT in the theater and after the movie my mom said "is gimli one of the last dwarves" i said "no there are as many dwarves as there are elves" "then why dident they help the elves in the battle" "well there were no elves fighting in the book except legolas." "then why are they focusing on the elves" i dident know what to say about that. what are your comments on this
Admiral_Ackbar8
hmmm good one maybe the elves arnt involed the these battles or they dont have enough soldiers?
Rogue Nine
More people bucking for "points". ****. The elves were leaving for Valinor across the sea. They realized their time on Middle-earth was over. Haldir and Rivendell elves showing up at Helm's Deep I think was to take the place of Éomer (who was really supposed to be there). They shouldn't have killed Haldir though. The dwarves really don't want anything to do with fighting. They're fierce warriors, but the much prefer to spend time in their mines, digging for treasures. thehomicidalegg
hmmm, men of the west, dwarves and elves were being threatened along the whole front, and there were battles at dale, in mirkwood, at lorien, at the same time as the battle for minas tirith, which is why theres no elves/dwarves fighting in gondor/rohan in the books. I think they put the elves there at helms deep for several reasons, they wont to emphasize the last alliance, thus drawing parallel to the last war with sauron, and the eminent dangers and the state of desperation. It also dramatises the battle as the odds are heavily in Sarumans favour: 10000 vs a few hundred and more old and young civilians before the arrival of the elves. 3rd, for audiences unfamiliar with the books, especially the younger ones, it generates excitements because elves are "cool":D ... and there will most likely be elvish action figures selling in supermakets soon.
