Dragonlancer
Who do you guys think would win in a 1 on 1 duel to the death? I'm talking Luke skywalker during Return of the Jedi and Darth Maul during The Phantom Menace. None of that stuff where Luke uses the force somehow and becomes indistructable or whatever. Personally, I think Darth Mauls mastery of martial arts techniques would outweigh Luke's knowledge of the force. If Luke won, it would probably be because Darth Maul got to cocky. We all know that's why Obi-Wan killed him. He's a better swordsman, if he had just done it quickly and not toyed with him he could have done it. In any case though, lets see some votes! PS. Is it just me or do people not use smilies as much anymore?

wassup
ya Luke would probably lose. Maul is way too fast for poor Skywalker
JediNyt
Luke beat Vader. He could beat Maul.
leXX
ROTJ Luke would beat Maul. ESB Luke wouldn't be able to. *votes Luke*
Tie Guy
Well, Maul had been trainied his entire life with a double-bladed saber. Luke never even has any formal lightsaber training that we see, and unless Yoda whipped out a saber of his own and dueled with Luke then he never did. At the time of ROTJ, Luke would have lost. Sure, he beat Vader, but that's just because he was seriously PO'ed. As you move further and further into EU, though, Luke would probably gain the upper hand. Jedi_Monk
The only reason Vader didn't kill Luke in Return of the Jedi was because he didn't want to. That was Luke's only advantage, and Maul would have no such qualms about ending Young Skywalker's life. Against an opponent who was trying to kill him, Luke would be lost. Maybe he didn't want to kill Luke, but he didn't want to lose and have his hand cut off. Yet he still did.
Thrackan Solo
mmmmmmmmm....... lets see the Leader of the New Jedi Order or the apprentice of Darth Sidius? If he Encountered Darth Maul when he was training with Yoda I do Believe that that would have been the end of Luke. Because Darth Maul trained exstensively with a double-edged saber. Although Luke has shown a mastery of the Force far beyond the talents of Darth Maul.
Dragonlancer
Ok, I'm not sure I made myself clear. I believe I clearly stated that I was NOT talking about EU luke. I meant Luke some time during the middle of Return of the Jedi. I think we ALL know that Vader would have easily torn Luke's tail apart had his goal been to kill him. He was trying to turn him to the dark side however. He would STILL have died had Vader not intervened and thrown Palpatine down the core shaft. Now that that's out of the way, let's try to keep it at the right times. Btw Solo, we are not talking about EU Luke. He is NOT the leader of the New Jedi Order seeing as how it doesn't even exist yet. Try to remember which time periods this is on.
Ratmjedi
Darth Maul would win with out a doubt. I mean Maul was trained most of his life. His devotion to the Sith order was immence. I mean he got all his tattoos because of his Sith devotion. Luke just won because of a few reasons that were in his favor. Maul was also way to quick for Luke. I don't that I ever saw Luke wave his Lightsaber around very quickly. Maul also would have just of had one lightsaber on like he did on Tattoine. He was also in his cloak and was on sand yet he moved pretty fast. Luke was walking on metal and was only wearing his Jedi clothes on and didnt move that fast. Maul is just way more talented with a Lightsaber and would do flips around Luke.
boinga1
probably Maul, unless Maul said something that ticked off Luke like what Vadar said about "sister" and Luke got all mad and opened to the dark side and... I dunno. I want to say Luke, but...if I compare the fighting style of OT and the prequels like I shouldn't...it's Maul. Poor farmboy
El Sitherino
i say maul cuz just like the others said hes faster and more skilled with a saber.
Taos
Darth Maul would defeat Luke in an incredible battle. I'd sure like to see this one.
Dragonlancer
Now there's a good idea. Someone could make a fan film of Luke dueling Darth Maul. That would be pretty awsome if they did it right. Maybe get the Ho brothers (the people that did "Art of the Saber", and increadible fan film which I strongly reccomend) on the project. AgentSmith
I think Darth Maul would win. He was far better trained in lightsaber combat and mastery of the Force than Luke was, even during RoTJ.
Dragonlancer
Yeah sure, I it's big, but I guarantee you won't be disappointed. This is the best fight I've ever seen. I havn't seen Duality but apparantly it was even better then that! And Duality was featured on quicktime.com! Anyway here's the link for Art of the Saber. http://www.theforce.net/theater/fxprojects/aos2/index.shtml If it doesn't work, just go to http://www.theforce.net and go to fan films. It's featured on the front page.
leXX
Cool thnx, downloading now. A light saber fight sequence with the flavor of a Hong Kong martial arts action movie. Sounds like my kinda fight!! btw: Duality is EXCELLENT! I highly recommend you watch it. http://www.crewoftwo.com edit/ Well that was excellent! Those two certainly have skill. Great FX and choreography, a joy to watch. My only complaint is the music, I don't think it went with the film at all.
-s/<itzo-
darth maul definetly. he's just too agile, too quick. luke won't stand a chance.
lukeiamyourdad
When will people understand that you can't compare the OT fighting style and the PT fighting style. Geez come on! Look at how Luke was fighting against a guy in a very heavy suit. It would look weird if GL made Luke totally own Vader because he's as fast and agile as any other Jedi. They could do more stunts with Maul because he wasn't in a big heavy suit.
Andy867
Why not compare the styles. The reason why Vader fought the way he did was that Lucas said that Vader was out of his prime, and with age, you lose speed. Yoda is an exception because his species lives a hell of a lot longer. and Darth Maul was in his prime. So compare the two. Luke would have the time of his life fending off Darth Maul's acrobatic fighting technique.
Dragonlancer
Luke would have the time of his life fending off Darth Maul's acrobatic fighting technique. The time of his very very short life if he tried it

Rikusho
Sure, Luke beat Vader... but Maul was fast and furious. Vader was slow and slower.
