How should meetings work?

  1. 1. How should meetings work?

    • IC for ingame meetings and OOC for forum meetings

    • IC for both types of meetings

    • OOC for both types of meetings

    • I'll let Gaalgoth decide because he's my hero

I think a mix of both. But in this way:

In offgame situation, expect the other person to be ooc unless he/she says so (preferrably with a "ic:" prefix)

In ingame situation, expect the other person to be ic unless he/she says so (preferrably with a "ooc:" prefix)

Simple, and effective. I like my roleplaying games to be roleplaying games.

I'm thinking that in-game everything is automatically IC. All Out-Of-Character talk should be marked by OOC before the text.

In forums, everything is automatically OOC, and all In-Character talk should be marked with IC before the text.

I'm also thinking that all meetings, that isn't of vital importance that we get a solution to fast, could be done in-game. I simply would just have loved to sit around a table bitching back and forth. :D

Well, not bitching, but it all adds to the realism of this game. I have been waiting for a chance to live in Star Wars all my life. ;) As I'm sure many of you have aswell. :D

i picked the last option .....*pulls out a blaster* gaalgoth i'd like to have a word with you.....

seriously, i tinhk it should depend on the meeting...for example if we need to talk about defenses that should definately be in game...but if we need to talk about someone not being able to play for a while there's no ppoint to do that ig....

My PA plans on doing all meetings out of game. The main reason for this is that it is impossible to get a large enough group of people together from different time zones. I don't know if that makes sense. I would rather do it in game, but that seems rather unlikely. Anyway, I didn't vote in your poll since I am not a member. ;P

Goooood non-member poster! Here's a cookie! ;)

Well, most important discussion will propably be had on the forums, since it takes time, and most people are not online at the same time. Ingame meetings, however, can add to the feeling of unity and roleplaying more than any discussion on the boards. Both ways has pros and cons.

Right, I know I'm not part of your PA...yet. But I think like others have said, stuff that is related to ingame should be held in game. Stuff that isn't related should be held here in the forums or on a big chat room- like you can do with AOL, just inviting a lot of people and talking about it. Not sure if you can do the same thing with ICQ, but that sort of thing. Yes, it is hard to have an ingame -mandatory meeting. 'Cause what happens if someone is in a different time zone, or someone needs to do something at the same time as the meeting?

It is very, very unlikely that we will ever have a manditory meeting. First, because there's very few situations that I can imagine that could require one, and second, we're spread across the globe, with a lot of europeans and a lot of americans, and an aussie or two ;). So no, mandatory meetings are stupid.

just to say this.. uhm..

when we have meetings in game.. should we have meetings with only the leaders or should we have group meetings? with ALL associates (which will never work).

and liek you may know.. i never played a game like this... and i may have missed the clue to the thread.... when we have in game meetings.. all in charachter? which will be ok for me tho :p

I picked the *cough*last*cough* one.

(I am sure I spelled "cough" incorrectly.)

But definitly IC ingame unless marched OOC, imagine this:

"I'll meet you at the cantina."

"What cantina."

"Our cantina."

"What's your problem, we live half a world apart."

"I ment in SWG you idiot."

"Oh."

Personally I would love to roleplay my character in a meeting, but looks like the meetings will be leader only things... Or so it seems.

If the average Joe Smoe is allowed to participate in meetings in game, I would love that. It would offer a sense of urgency and thinking on the issues of the time in terms of your CHARACTER and not necessecarily what is logical to you. It would be what your character desires at the moment, your influences in thinking and acting towards the other people in the heat of debate during an in game. OOC should stick to the boards so we the players can vote on what we want to do as a PA of people trying to make the game experience more enjoyable for us. In game IC out of game OOC. All (MOST) speech in game should be IC, but there are times you just need to OOC it. i.e. Gotta use the restroom, but that COULD be IC LOL... it could. When you have to leave and sadly stop playing, OOC. We should IC when possible for a more in depth experience of who we are playing with, who populates our world, and the relationships between our character and someone elses character.

We could make IC judgements in all our actions that sway us one way or another. i.e. Your character is making money, but suddenly there is a vote to change that so you make less. Logically to you the player (And your good natured heart) this new idea sounds great, fair, and would boost efficiency of the PA and its economy... Now think: Would your Character want this change out of the goodness of THEIR hearts, or are they self loving bizootches who wouldn't help anyone? Let THAT be IC and meetings be run by the characters themselves, not you. That is what the boards should be for.

Sorry for rambling in so many of my posts, but I don't care to look through many of them to see what I repeat. :( Sorry, sorry sorry, and SORRY again and again if I don't make sense some times... It's late when I check these boards. ;) *Yawns*

*Collapses on keyboard* nhbjmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........................

No, you made some sense. And meetings will involve everyone, or most of them anyway. there are weekly leader-only meetings, but there will be some involving everyone. But the leaders will have final say and have the ability to over rule. Hopefully though that won't be used too often.

just for the fun of the roleplaying thing we should have like the =A= of the round table and have big debates about things where majority may rule after all arguments habve been heard like if we did that in character i think it would be fun dont you guys think so?

Hell ya Swediot! Only maybe not so much round table voting as a kickass food fight that rages for 40 days and 40 nights untill there is one sole survivor in the end... AND HE/SHE/IT IS THE WINNER... I mean... Uh... Debater with the best argument and most valid points on their subject.

OR as I may point out... Setsuko could just bring her rake...

---Makes sure he is still hiding in that closet well---

for intimidation votes.;)

P.S. What are the Points under the Avatar and what is teh Donate Credits button for? Sorry for being ignorant but I am learning myself through the....*passes out on keyboard again*
