PhantomHelix Posted February 5, 2003 Posted February 5, 2003 yeah, i know. i heard that the graphics and memory taken up by the game if it had been made the cool looking way would have been too much for a gamecube disk and too much for the sh!tty gamecube to handle...*shrugs*

The GC can handle that first version fine. They didn't change it because it couldn't handle it. They changed it because they wanted to use cel shading. It's basically a living cartoon now and it's gotten multiple perfect scores. Would I like a Zelda game that looked like the top one? Hell yeah, but the one they're giving is is spiffy cool too. What's this about the GC breaking more than all the others?
ckcsaber Posted February 5, 2003 Posted February 5, 2003 Actually, my PS2 is the only one of my console systems that broke. The damn dust screwed up the lens on it. My gamecube hasnt had any trouble since day one for me.

Then they take a PS2 and drop it onto their bed. Uhuh, GC breaks soooo much easier Rhett. No, seriously, I think they are the same. And the GC disk thing, they would just give the player more disks. What they should have done was made both versions!!! (not that I care, as you may or may not know, I own no console)
JediNyt Posted February 5, 2003 Posted February 5, 2003 I was mad about this for a while. Nintendo could be going down the drain. They were on top for so many years but wtf has happened to them now? When I saw the first shots of GC before it came out which included the stellar Zelda footage I was aghast. I was so excited thinking theyve done it again! Go Nintendo! But now their furture is very clouded. Theyve turned Zelda into some freakin wierd ass Saturday morning cartoon! Cell shading sucks. Its nothing near what they originally had. Why ruin the great series? Theyve gotta be smokin sooo much pot! This piece of **** appeals to snot nosed little kids. Thats not what Zelda should be for. Ocarina of Time for N64 rocked. It had a great story line, it was dark, violent, with some happy stuff too. If anything they should make Zelda more adult. More frightening, more violent, gripping, compelling, and give it back what it had in OoT. There are rumors of Nintendo making a more mature version after this one but I wouldnt take them seriously. Oh well, I dont play console games anymore anyway. So it doesnt really affect me. Ive gotten over it.
Katarn07 Posted February 5, 2003 Posted February 5, 2003 Zelda is the RPG so many people my age have growqn up with, and more adult themed story would be good. Baldur's Gate for me, baby! Very dark and violent. I hope KotOR is just as good (of course it will be! You can turn to the Darkside!!!)

Nintendo wouldn't want it to be more violent because then they would probably rate it M, and lose some of the age group that buys it. I agree though, it would be like the top screenshots, but I don't really care, what makes Zelda great is the gameplay not the graphics *goes back in time and shoots the guy who invented cel-shading*

How did Gamecube make games like Resident Evil and All those other games. I aint a fan of GC but i have enough common sense to say that the GC disk can store that stuff

ckcsaber Posted February 5, 2003 Posted February 5, 2003 Yes, I wished Nintendo stuck with the original plan for the new Zelda but I must remind you all that probably the BEST ZELDA ever looked like this so don't blow off this new one if it looks like a "kiddie" game to you, because it is bound to be a good Zelda experiance.

Yea, the game would have been really nice with those graphics at the top of the screen. And yes, the new cel shading may seem "kiddy." But you guys seem to be missing something, that the graphics may not be favorable but you're rating a game solely by its graphics, not by gameplay. You're all gonna feel like a horse's rear if the game turns out to have great gameplay and is real enjoyable. I'm not happy...
Lightsaberboy Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 that cartoon link is from the upcoming selda game The Wind Waker. It was how Miyamoto envisoned link to be, and it looks kickass. The game already got very high scores from planet gamecube, so if you zelda fans arent gonna play it or are gonna bash on it just cause of its looks, then that's not right.

That does exist its called master quest and it comes with wind waker and zelda Oot if you preordered wind waker. I would of liked the other graphics but he kind looks like a girl in the top pics.
