They're nothing but a product of a childish idea that GL must've had while smokin one too many death sticks. Jar-Jar is, without a doubt, the worst thing to happen to Star Wars. It was that reason that Episode 1 is at the bottom of the list in the Star Wars movies, IMHO. If it wasn't so damn childish, then perhaps it would appeal to adults who are NOT die-hard SW fans.
