DVD questions

I am getting a DVD player this weekend (it's about time... ) and have a few questions about some certain DVDs.

1) The 2 prequel trilogy DVDs, are the scenes alone or in the movie? Why aren't they in the movie for AotC VHS, the ones that fit, I mean?

2) LotR SE. What's so special about it? I don't have it on VHS and will get this version anyhow, but still wanna know. Deleted scenes? If so, are they in the film or alone?

The deleted scenes for all of the above mentioned flims are in their own seperate sections. They are not "welded" into the theatre version.

the deleted scenes included in the movie take about 30 min (yea, 3.30h movie to watch). with the special version you´ll get some nice documentaries on the cast, the filming, the story,...

i bought the se a while ago and i didnt regret buying it

hope this helps ;)

TO answer all your questions:

The TPM DVD version is slighlty different to the VHS and theatrical release. It has a few extra scenes here and there, including an extended pod race scene. If you look at the deleted scenes section, it will tell you which ones ended up in the DVD release.

As for AOTC DVD, it is not the 35MM print, but the digital print that has been put onto the DVD. Once again, not that different, but for those that saw the digital version, they will spot the differences. The deleted scenes are not included in the movie at all for AOTC.

As for LOTR:SE (Extended Edition), there are still deleted scenes, but not really too many to look at since, they added 40 minutes to the original movie. Note that the EE version is over two DVD's due to the higher quality film transfer, and the superior DTS ES (6.1) audio track that is now included alongside the Dolby Digital EX (6.1) audio track. I have a receiver that can handle that, and it is awesome to watch, can't wait for TTT to come out. There are a couple of different versions, but the 4 DVD version has plenty of other footage to look at, which gives you a deeper insight into the whole movie.

In conclusion, get all of them.........!

FotR: SE rules. :)

Although it's even longer than the normal version. But features the extra detail.

DVDs mostly have deleated scenes, and added extras. I personally still like VHS. Although the picture may not be as 'sharp', my VCR doesn't have a loud fan built-in...

...unlike the noisy PS2. :xp:

Yah what they said. The LOTR:SE is definetly worth the buy and you won't get bored of watching it cause it is so long and there is just so much to check out.

The disc change also happens after the Counsel of Eldrond when Frodo decides that he will take the ring to Mordor. It then cuts in on the second disk with a waterfall and Aragorn looking at his mothers grave (inserted scene) and then Eldrond talking about Narsil.

I was wondering do any of you guys know when they are going to be releasing TTT on DVD and when the SE of that is going to come out cause I want to go see it. I want to watch Helm's Deep all over again.

I always need to go to the lou, get a drink etc. around the Rivendell point - so it's no big deal for me ;)

LOTR Extended Edition sets a new standard for DVDs, it is by far the best value for money, and no DVD around has as much content to offer as it does. There's something like 8 hours of documentary footage, then a load of pictures (concept art and the like) - some of the pictures have commentaries too! Then, there's the extended version of the film, and 4 different commentaries - I'm still checking it out, and I've had it since the day of release.
