Luc Solar
Well let's see... Most clan members that you run across on public servers are childish, arrogant and ridiculously pompous teenagers who think they're better than everyone else because they have a certain tag infront of their name. I know very few clan members who aren't total jerks. I think clans bring out the worst in people.
Hekx
It all depends on if the clan is dedicated and organized. Some clans let anyone in, and usually become obsolete within a few months. Other clans are large, active and cool. So in other words, some clans are good, others are not. I also feel people should join older clans with foundation instead of creating new ones. [MA]JediChewie
Well, Personally, Being the JKII division lead for the MacAddict clan, I have to say its great. I joined the clan last summer, and they play a bunch of games, main one being Unreal Tournament, but there is a division for each of the games (also divisions for Warcraft III & Castle Wolfenstein), and so although I may be a bit biased, Id have to guess that the clans you guys are talking about are mostly new ones. Although there are occasional skirmishes, Ive grown to really get to know and appreicate these people who are in my clan. Its not so much about just the games, but we are an online community that enjoys fragging each other for fun, but were almost like a family (including our sister clans), and Ive had a great experience with these people. Our forums are hosted by the MacAddict magazine, so we dont have to worry about the pop ups, we have IRC channels where we can go and hang with each other, we get into our competitive spirits and we have Tournaments/Matches. Its really loads of fun. We have a forum for each of the divisions, and a forum just for general clan discussions, and so I think its a great mix of gaming and community building. If you dont belive me, You can find our general clan forums here , and our new JKII forums (which only have a few threads because they were started in the last week) here . Our group does have some rules, main one being "Dont be a Jerk" (and that is enforced ), and they dont just start divisions idilly (Even after I had polled around for a while to get the intrest necessary, it took some time for the group to start), They want a certian amount of people intrested, and someone they can trust to be the leader of it, and our structure is pretty well organized. Although im sure my prespective is diffrent then that of some of you because I havent really spent much time looking at groups that havent been around for a while. Ive had a great experience with my clan and getting to know some of the people in our clan and sister clans.
Taos
This thread is being moved to the swamp because it doesn't directly deal with JK2. I'd put it in the clan forum but I'm guessing you don't want one-sided answers.
Zodiac
Clans are great when they have cool members who are great too. 'My' clan is a great example of that.
wassup
Clans are great only if 3 requirements are constantly met: (1) The clan members like each other. (2) The clan members like other players, non-clan members, etc. (3) The clan is active. A great example is my clan, [*|Fury|*]!!
obi
Being the leader of LFJA, I can honestly say that there are some really good, clean, nice clans out there. Most clans are indeed childish, and only play against those who will play by their rules: they win no matter what, and if they loose, you are cheating. LFJA, however, is a different story. We at LFJA feel that there are a certain set of rules that should be followed by all clans. Sort of like the Geneva convention, for example. Anyway, LFJA does not really like to consider itself a "clan," because we expand way beyond gaming and forums.
Reborn Outcast
Some clans are good, some are bad. For instance the clan OE| is a very well mannered clan on JO.
-=DarkZero=-
Being the leader of O/L WaR and one of the 4 leaders of the veteren WaR. I personally think clans are a good getaway, you always have someone thats got your back and what not,if you don't know something theres a chance that a clan member does and he could tell you,so on and so forth. But alot of clans are corrupt with their thinking and so they suck >.> Im an inbetween

Prime
I've never been interested in joining a clan, and that is mainly to do with various clan members I've come across on public servers. Arrogant and childish is an understatement. Most seem to demand that you play by their rules and follow their code of "honour".

Anyway, LFJA does not really like to consider itself a "clan," because we expand way beyond gaming and forums. This is why I was very enthusiastic about joining LFJA in the early days when it was more of a concept than a hosted community. LFJA is based on the many prinicipals of a clan but is more of an online community than a full fledged clan. We have a very specific code of conduct to follow than abandons most forms of childish bragging, hacking, spamming and so forth. Alot of our rules and regs parallel those of both the Jedi Order, and that of the United Federation of Planets from Star Trek. We caught notice from LF administration and were generously awarded our own Forums under hosted communities, whithout ever having to request, or sell our ideas to them. Today I serve as moderator of the forum, and have a seat on the LFJA council, something I shall remain proud of. I do believe that is how we have outlived most of the fledgling clans of yore. We shall prevail.
Pedantic
They're ok. I sorta like going it alone though; I don't like depending on other people. And it's a great deal of trouble because the leaders always schedule matches and such at weird times when I already have stuff scheduled for real life, if there is such a thing.
