Chewie!

SW.com ran a poll a few weeks ago, and the majority of people wanted "A brief but unforgettable scene", followed by "A supporting role that weaves throughout the movie".

So it looks like what people want is split between the two opposites of what you can actually have.

yeah, chewie shouldn't have a major supporting role (contradiction of terms? :D) in ep III. lucas'd screw it up. he should, imo, just have a brief, fleeting scene with viewers & sw fans staying alert throughout the movie to catch a glimpse of everyone's favourite movie.

cameos of favourite characters have proven to be very popular in the past with both movies & comics. the making of baron fel (x-wing rogue squad series, steve crespo, chip wallace & mike stackpole) received many positive compliments from, aside from its fantastic art & storyline, the numerous cameos of favourite characters that it featured, like han solo, tarkin, derek klivian, tycho celchu, biggs & several others.

more relevant to the issue @ hand than comix would be the cameos seen in X2..... the beast cameo-or rather, Dr Hank McCoy's- had every self-respecting X2 fan muttering with excitement when it was shown. the sharper ones could see all the other cameos- remy Lebeau's, reed richard's etc- and were, generally, thrilled that they caught sight of them.

Likewise, in order to induce the same level of excitement in its viewers as the X2 cameos did, chewie's appearance should NOT be that long and his cameo shouldn't be forced.

so here's to hoping lucas won't screw up chewie's appearance!

Yeah, Chewies appearance can't be that long. In ANH when Obi Wan walks up to them, (Chewie and Han) , he doesn't say anything or act like he recognises him. It's like that the hole way, so it's either Obi Wan doesn't see him or he's not in the scene of Chewie in Ep. III. RoCk On ChEwIe!!!!! :chew1 Oh and uh, Boba kills Mace right? Just checkin. :D

Yeah, if he's in it for too long, then it'll just ruin the whole SW plot.

It'll also give it an "old movie" feeling. As long as Chewie's a teenager, Han dosen't know him, and he only plays some kid playing virtual basket ball, then has to flee 'cuz of a civill war, or sumpthin then I'm fine.

Good job JediNyt.

I'm looking forward to see Chewies role in the prequals :D.

As for Han, I dont think he will include him. Thats mainly because Han, wouldnt fit into the timeline. If he would have to include Han, he would have to skip the Jedi Purge, and none of the fans would like that. I know that I would very much like to see the Jedi Purge and see Anakins turn to the Dark Side :D.

Han won't be in episode III and personally I'm very grateful of this, I really don't wana see Han as some kid just as they did to Boba. The actor who played Boba sucked, and alot of people like Boba because of the mystery surrounding him. Something's aren't meant to be explained.

I read, I think in the new Star Wars Insider, that Chewie was going to be involved in a massive fight scene. Here's hoping we see some Wookiee berserker arm-ripping!

Oh, and like with the droids, if you look closely there's no tell-tales that Obi-Wan doesn't recognize Chewie in the Cantina. He just tells Luke that this is Chewbacca and he knows where they can get a pilot. And Obi-Wan doesn't exactly stick around long enough for us to learn much about their relationship. Lucas has plenty of wiggle-room in this respect.

i agree with that, obi wan is pretty forgetful in his old age, he doesnt recognise r2 d2 in ANH but met him in ep1.

We're just jaded. The only reason why we assume that Obi-Wan didn't recognize R2 (or Chewie for that matter) is because that's the first time we see them meet and we go into that assuming that it is a first-time meeting. With the lucky kids who will be able to watch the entire Trilogy in order and in entirety, they'll see the subtle signs that Obi-Wan recognizes R2 and Chewie.

If that didn't make sense, then I blame the fact that I've been up for 18 hours and have been on my feet all day.

Obi-Wan only says that he hasn't ever owned any droids. Which is true. An R2 droid is an R2 droid, they all look pretty much the same. Just because he ran into a R2 droid, in the middle of the desert, that he saw a few times 30 years ago doesn't mean he'll automatticly assume that its the same one. R2 and 3PO were with Anakin when he was alone, Obi-wan was almost never in the same scene with them.

So, are we trying to figure out of Obi knows or doesn't know Chewie in the Cantina?

good point becuz r2 is with padme and anikan in episode 2 and all r2 units are basically the same so i dont think he would really be able to tell the difference if there was a police line-up of r2 units

maybe chewie will rip jar jar's arms out of their sockets. i still wont believe that statement until i actually see it and who better to show it off on then jar jar

My guess is that we'll see Chewie on Kashyyk in Episode III maybe Dooku and the confeds are attempting to get Kashyyk or something along those lines, but GL will have to be careful who he puts him near, especially with Obi Wan about. Chewie will just have a walk on no doubt.
