setsuko
Biographical Data 1. Age? 21 Years old 2. Gender? Female 3. Handle, username, nickname? setsuko, setsuko, The Allmighty Raker of Souls. 4. Player Association? The Associates General Questions 5. What was it about Star Wars Galaxies that got you interested? What kept this interest going? I was looking for a MMORPG after feeling let down by DAoC. I noticed SWG since it is Star Wars, and I guess it's the community that kept me here. 6. How did you find SWG? When and where? Ooooh... I knew it was in development quite a while before I checked it out. I was busy playing other games, you see. But I have followed the community actively for more than a year now. 7. What are your hopes and wishes for the game? Any fears? I hope to have a lot of fun. Roleplaying, PvP, anything, as long as it is enjoyed in a good humour. My fears are for people who are completely out of character, and just attempts to ruin other peoples experience. Like running around and screaming "Avalanches won 4-3! Wooot!", things like that. 8. How will you play? With my hands firmly on the keyboard and a cold beer by my side. Oh, what platform? PC off course! 9. Who will you play with? Online friends, 'real life' friends, alone? Online friends. PA friends, most often, I guess. 10. Why have you joined a Player Association, even before the game is released? First, I was very sceptical. I have seen (and been part of) several pre-game guilds, and none have really survived release. But I got more and more involved, and now there's no turning back, I guess, now that I have leader status and all. *sigh* Seriously though, it seems like our efforts on =A= are pretty much worth it, and it seems rather solid by now. We'll see how it turns out! 11. What are your expectations for the transition from pre-game community to in-game community? Oooh, initial shock as you try to spend as much time on the forum as usual, while playing the actual game. Sleeplessness can be a side effect. 12. How have the developers, and the development process, encouraged or discouraged player participation prior to the game's launch? I have never seen such interaction with the community from any developer studio before. But then, the SWG community is huge. I must say that they have been great, and really encouraged us all. If it wasn't for all their hard work, I guess few would wait for almost a whole additional year. My hat's off for them. 13. How would you characterize yourself in regard to your involvement with SWG? I keep daily track on things. After all, I'm all about answering questions. If I hear a question I can't answer, I get immensely curious, and just HAVE to find out. Not only SWG, but that personality trait has sure grown and somewhat impared my every day life since I started to attend MMORPG communities. 14. What kind of gaming experience has had an influence on your interest for SWG? Regular computer games? Multi User Dungeons (MUDs)? Massively Multiplayer Online Games? Pen & Paper Role playing Games? I played West End's Star Wars pen&paper RPG a lot when I was younger (11-15). And sure, I've had my fill of 'regular' computer games too, I really enjoy a well written CRPG. I've never really enjoyed MUD's, partly because my sence of location is so bad, that I am truly lost as soon as I walked two actions away from the start. I've played some MMORPGs, and through their flaws I saw a core that could get really good in a couple of years. I hope SWG is a step in that direction. Jan Gaarni
Biographical Data: 1. Age? 26 years old 2. Gender? Male 3. Handle, username, nickname? Jan Gaarni 4. Player Association? The Associates (DUH ) General Questions: 5. What was it about Star Wars Galaxies that got you interested? What kept this interest going? To be able to live in the Star Wars Universe. 6. How did you find SWG? When and where? I was notified about it 2 years or so ago by someone on a forum. 7. What are your hopes and wishes for the game? Any fears? That I get to play the game is more than enough for me. Any fears? Yeah, that I'll die before it comes out. 8. How will you play? PC. What else is there? 9. Who will you play with? Online friends, 'real life' friends, alone? Online friends 10. Why have you joined a Player Association, even before the game is released? I don't know. It was the people. Something about them told me they are fun to hang out with. Maybe it was the boards? 11. What are your expectations for the transition from pre-game community to in-game community? That we'll have a huge party later on on Corellia, getting wasted ... in Swediots cantina. But basically what Set said. Trying to play the game, being a groupleader, have responsabilities on the forums, in addition to a real life.... yep, won't be much sleep I think. 12. How have the developers, and the development process, encouraged or discouraged player participation prior to the game's launch? I don't know. Have nothing to compare to. But it seems they have done a mighty fine job so far. 13. How would you characterize yourself in regard to your involvement with SWG? My involvement has been varied. In the beginning I was very into evreything about it. Now, I'm more into what my goals are. 14. What kind of gaming experience has had an influence on your interest for SWG? Regular computer games? Multi User Dungeons (MUDs)? Massively Multiplayer Online Games? Pen & Paper Role playing Games? No real roleplaying game before this. The fact that it is Star Wars is all I need really. Handle, username, nickname? Handle: Dark Moon or PaladiNIGHT Username: See above Nickname: See above (What's the difference?) 4. Player Association? The Associates, well, haven't been approved yet, but I'm hoping! General Questions 5. What was it about Star Wars Galaxies that got you interested? What kept this interest going? Star Wars has always been fascinating to me, and almost the only games I play are RPGs, so it sounded like a great deal. The timely developer updates, are the only thing that could bring anyone through the wait, they're very reliable people. 6. How did you find SWG? When and where? jediknight.net, when it was first announced 7. What are your hopes and wishes for the game? Any fears? I hope that it will prove to be a very interesting experience that I will enjoy playing for a long time. I'm just afraid my short attention span will quickly tire of it, but I hope not with the updates thay have planned! 8. How will you play? I'll probably RP somewhat, but it won't overcome my game playing style. I plan on following the crafting and non-combat route first, and eventually moving into the combat arena with weapons of my own unique style. 9. Who will you play with? Online friends, 'real life' friends, alone? Online friends, such as the =A=, as I don't know many pepole around here that are Star Wars fans. 10. Why have you joined a Player Association, even before the game is released? I want to get to know a good group of people to play with so I can know what I'm doing and have some good friends to play with! 11. What are your expectations for the transition from pre-game community to in-game community? I expect that it will flow mostly the same, but the forums will flooded with people with quest questions and beggars looking for good items. That's how it usually turns out, but I'm hoping it won't be too bad here. 12. How have the developers, and the development process, encouraged or discouraged player participation prior to the game's launch? They have kept me personally very encouraged and excited about the game with their constant updates and the way that they seem to truly enjoy informing the community of how everythings going. 13. How would you characterize yourself in regard to your involvement with SWG? I haven't been very involved, but I'm sure that I would like to be, but I won't try to become a prominent figure in the community. 14. What kind of gaming experience has had an influence on your interest for SWG? Regular computer games? Multi User Dungeons (MUDs)? Massively Multiplayer Online Games? Pen & Paper Role playing Games? The game that really raised my MMORPG expectations was Runescape. After playing that and hearing that something resembling it was being released for Star Wars I got very excited. Hope my survey thingie helps with whatever research or whatever you're doing!
Kiedo
Biographical Data 1. Age? 14 Years old 2. Gender? Male 3. Handle, username, nickname? Kiedo, Kiddo (Damn you Jan!) 4. Player Association? The Associates, if I remember rightly General Questions 5. What was it about Star Wars Galaxies that got you interested? What kept this interest going? Since I read about this game in PC Gamer about a year and a half ago, I decided that this was the game for me. I kept the interest going by supporting the game and being patient. 6. How did you find SWG? When and where? As I said before, I found out about SWG in PC Gamer about a year and a half ago. 7. What are your hopes and wishes for the game? Any fears? I hope that everybody has a lot of fun, and that the Associates grows to be a great PA. 8. How will you play? On PC, of course. I don’t really think that the MMORPG genre really goes well on consoles. 9. Who will you play with? Online friends, 'real life' friends, alone? Online friends mostly, I don’t know many people in real life who are interested in MMORPGs. 10. Why have you joined a Player Association, even before the game is released? To give me something to do and think about before the release of the game. 11. What are your expectations for the transition from pre-game community to in-game community? I hope that the pre-game community will blend into the in-game well. But in-game there will be a lot more newbies. 12. How have the developers, and the development process, encouraged or discouraged player participation prior to the game's launch? The developers have encouraged us a lot, by releasing new information about the game over the weeks. By doing they have kept us interested and on the edge of our seats. 13. How would you characterize yourself in regard to your involvement with SWG? I’m just a game player to be and a fan. 14. What kind of gaming experience has had an influence on your interest for SWG? Regular computer games? Multi User Dungeons (MUDs)? Massively Multiplayer Online Games? Pen & Paper Roleplaying Games? Apart from Runescape, I’ve never played an MMORPG before. I haven’t been influenced by Pen & Paper RPGs or anything else. I’m interested mainly because of the ability to be able to walk around in the Star Wars world. Ashmaster
1. Age: 37 2. Gender: Male. 3. Handle: Haven't really decided on name to use in SWG, and wouldn't post it if I did, so I can be sure that I don't have to fight with someone for it. 4. PA: The Associates. 5. Way back in 1977 I enjoyed watching the first Movie, and starting about 8 years ago when I started playing UO, with the player interaction is what got me interested in MMORPG's. My brother bought a Vic-20 when they were the shiznit and I was hooked on computers from then on. 6. SWG was announced while I was playing EQ, in the GM announcement. 7. Only hopes to the game are that it is fun and immersive. Anything else is a bonus. 8. My answer on how I'll play is it depends on how I feel that day. I'm an explorer, like to RP some, PvP some, craft some. So I guess I probably won't "Master" any one profession. 9. Well, I have a few friends from EQ that are supposed to be coming to SWG and of course, with the Associates. 10. Because to have a really good understanding of the group of people you're going to be grouping with, to have a kind of family type atmosphere, a sense of comraderie, you can't just join from day one and say this is the group of people I want to hang out with. You have to be able to know the people. 11. Trying to not have any expectations, so that I won't be too disappointed if it doesn't go off without a hitch. 12. Just their continued presence on the game boards. Hopefully, they'll continue that after release. 13. I post on occasion on the SWG Message boards and keep up to date on the status of the game. 14. Have played computer games for shoot, probably 25 years, have always enjoyed RPGs, have played Pen and Paper D&D, my first MMORPG was beta on the Realm, then I played UO for about 3 years, switched to EQ, played both EQ and DAoC for a while, finally quit EQ after over 3 years playing that, went back to DAoC, have pretty much quit playing DAoC, spending alot of time in NWN now, just waiting on SWG. The Associates General Questions 5. What was it about Star Wars Galaxies that got you interested? What kept this interest going? I can actually play in the Star Wars universe, and not just read about it or watch it. 6. How did you find SWG? When and where? Back in '00 when I first got into EQ. 7. What are your hopes and wishes for the game? Any fears? I just want to be good at what I do. I'd love to be a jedi, but if not i'm not going to try a Class Action Suite, like some moron will probably try. 8. How will you play? With fairness. 9. Who will you play with? Online friends, 'real life' friends, alone? I'll play with several online friends (JR), and a few RL friends. 10. Why have you joined a Player Association, even before the game is released? Because this way I won't have to be looking around for people, i'll already have a sense of direction. 11. What are your expectations for the transition from pre-game community to in-game community? The same as here. 12. How have the developers, and the development process, encouraged or discouraged player participation prior to the game's launch? I think overall a general encouragement. 13. How would you characterize yourself in regard to your involvement with SWG? Moderate. 14. What kind of gaming experience has had an influence on your interest for SWG? Regular computer games? Multi User Dungeons (MUDs)? Massively Multiplayer Online Games? Pen & Paper Role playing Games? Reg. cpu games, MMO's.

Sunshine Badass
Biographical Data 1. Age? 17 Years old 2. Gender? Male 3. Handle, username, nickname? Sunshine Badass on these forums 4. Player Association? The Associates General Questions 5. What was it about Star Wars Galaxies that got you interested? What kept this interest going? I became interested after reading the PCGamer. A year and a half of not paying attention to SWG has kept me interested. 6. How did you find SWG? When and where? I became interested when I read an article some year and a half ago in PCGamer. It sounded good and I told myself I would check into it in a year. Here I am at these boards, passing the time... 7. What are your hopes and wishes for the game? Any fears? I hope I can live a successful life while RPing the whole way. And that the game will still have the loving community it has from the start. LOTS of patches and updates fast, and LOTS of expansions. The more the better. 8. How will you play? I will RP in character, and will play through one of those personalized machine things... Oh yea, a computer. 9. Who will you play with? Online friends, 'real life' friends, alone? I will play with FEW real life friends and LOTS of online friends. 10. Why have you joined a Player Association, even before the game is released? Well, to tell the truth, I stumbled blindly into these forums and still have NO clue WHAT link I followed to get here. It is just a miracle that I ended up joining. I like people and needed something to occupy my time until release, found boards and the most organized and ACTIVE PA I have seen thus far. 11. What are your expectations for the transition from pre-game community to in-game community? I have none. Except that I play, they play... We are happy... Join us. 12. How have the developers, and the development process, encouraged or discouraged player participation prior to the game's launch? Being active with the community. This is the FIRST game of ANY game I have seen in that the Dev's interview, poll, and question the players, actively and frequently, who will buy the game. This ensures a better product targeted at those who want to play, and that it works out to be the WAY they want to play. 13. How would you characterize yourself in regard to your involvement with SWG? I have entered into this community and visited the official site avidly since, I believe, four weeks ago. 14. What kind of gaming experience has had an influence on your interest for SWG? Regular computer games? Multi User Dungeons (MUDs)? Massively Multiplayer Online Games? Pen & Paper Role playing Games? I have played D&D, Secret of Mana is what got me interested in RPG's in the first place. At five years old or so, all that reading seems kinda BAD, White-wolf games, Call of Cthulu, Star Wars D20 system by WotC, and of course, I mildly enjoyed the movies. I have seen them each TWICE!!! YES, GO ME...

Well that story goes back a few years actually but ill give really short version so as not to bore you.At first when i saw the first stuff they put out it looked pretty cool but as many others i beleive or maybe its just me i got put off for about 2 years because of the fact that after you baught the game you had to keep paying. But after those 2 years i just came back and saw some movies and some screens and read alitle faq and the whole idea just appealed to me. And after joining the community i finally began to come around and i started to see why it was necessary to pay for a game like this. ITS HUGE and my interest kept growing because of the devs that kept bringing more and more updates. And i dont know why i havent played a game like this before because i think its very appealing to me. i tried to keep it short. It was hard 6. How did you find SWG? When and where? well Im a big fan of lucasarts games and they are allmost the only thing i have apart from those games that most people have like half life or something like that. well not most people ok but many people have half life or at least play something like counterstrike at an internet cafe. so i found it on the lucasarts web site. 7.
