Acrylic
1 and 2 are the best. 1 is the best, but 2 comes in second.
Zoom Rabbit
I would definitely pick number two. It makes you think. 'Water? Murky? Gatorbait...? Oh, I get it!' The other pictures are okay, but they don't draw you in like the second one does. Go with two!
Surfnshannon
I agree the second one looks best. I like the text. and its simpler. The one guy's hair scares me....

Darth Groovy
Hey NikO, I been in four bands, I know EXACTLY where you are coming from, I did the same thing a long time ago. I made our own posters, once I dig them up, i'll put them up so you can see. I would have to say, I like the second and third the best, but the second one looks most professional. Darth Groovy
Well, I started out on rythm guitar for a bunch of friends of mine. We had radio freindly punk band punk band called "Trevor" and the the only reason they wanted me in, was because they liked me, but I really had no talent what so ever, and was overwhelmed very often by these guys who had been playing for years. They were willing to teach me, but I ducked out, and wound up doing they're press releases instead, and we kept a steady good relationship for a very long time. The next thing that happened upon me, was a group of guys I met in the Navy, who loved to play instruments, we had Kevin, who was into bands like Sonic Youth, Nirvana, and Pavement, we had our drummer, Brian, who was into Goth, like Christian Deth, and Mephisto Walse, he had alot of band experience, then we had Mark on Base, and Keyboard, who could play alot of Jane's Addiction songs really well, and alot of old Exploited tunes, but he really lusted after Industrial, (Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, and Frontline Assembley) which was the same stuff I was into. Basically, I showed up with my guitar, and we messed around and had come up with this sort of bizzare "New Order" Type sound. We had this long discussion about who would sing, and basically everyone would chicken out. So I told Kevin, who we called "Mr. Chicken" at the time...(we are big Resevoir Dogs fans) to start playing some Nirvana, and I just got on the mic, and started cranking out the tunes as I remembered them from my youth. They were all like......whoa, you can sing........! I kind of shrugged it off, but failed to tell them, that I come from a family(mostly my mother's side) of people who can and do sing, and that I used to sing in a quior, when I was younger... So I became the singer. Now Mark and me, really wanted to do some hardcore industrial, although it started out sounding very "New Order" we decided on the name "Vent" because we got into this as a means to vent off our frustrations. The only deal was that since Kevin, and Brian were not really big on industrial music, I had to play with them as a seperate band which we called "Drive Naked Save Clothes", in order to get them to do our industrial thing. So here I am, in the Navy on active duty status, playing two different bands, and yes I loved every waking minute of it. Anyways eventually Mark and I, came up with a good set of Industrial songs, and we made a half assed demo with what we had. We used a drum machine, a synthesizer, and Mark would go back and lay out some bass tracks. We did all of this on a 4-track. Kevin would come in and lay out some guitar chords, and I would go back and put in samples from movies, sound efects cds, whatever I could get my hands on! Hell I sampled everything from Candyman, to Mary Shelly's Frankenstien. After spending hours apon hours of messing around with these tracks, I was able to produce and hour of material, and called it "Welocme To The Manipulation!" I took this tape and made hundreds of copies and gave it to local clubs bars, and we even sent it to a few radio stations. The damn thing took off like you would not believe, and we were getting booked faster than we could make an appearance, We had regular radio play in three states, and got gigs with hardly any effort, so I became the manager, and made all of our posters and what not. We even got invited to Battle of the Bands, in Biloxi, MS, and left with some screaming fans, and alot of prise money. I would show up for the gigs in a white shirt, stained with catchup, black pants, and a bald head, I would have some corman buddies I knew from the ship hall me out on stage in a gournery, with a white sheet stained with ketchup, and I would slowley rise up off the stretcher and do the whole set. The kids ate it up! My main problem, is that I never saw this as anything serious, it was a means of escapism for me. And most of the gigs I showed up for, I was drunk on a combination of vodka and goldenslager, but the music was violent, depressing, and aggresive, so it made no difference to the audience. I started taking things seriously when Metropolis Records sent us a letter requesting our presence. Due to our "Active Duty" status, we often had to miss gigs, and miss out on chances to perform for Metropolis execs. Our stuff was still being played on the radio, but we still had not been able to go to a studio and do things right. I will cut this short, but over a time, things crumbled when the Navy got the best of us, and our members started to drift, and Mark had taken a fancy to heroine. After the messy break up, I vowed never to do Industrial music again. Part of me missed that near brush with fame, but another part of me is still frightened by it. This picture was taken when we visited New Orleans, and met a good looking girl in a bar, that happened to be a professional photographer, and she took these for us for free. I added all the extra junk via computer. Enjoy:cool: Mark is the tall guy on the left, and I am the one squatting down with the clove in my mouth. This story is to be continued.... And... I am looking to get into a different kind of band now as I type this...

Darth Groovy
Originally posted by NiKo i would love to listen to you guys...got any tracks you could upload? I'll have to pull the tapes out of mothballs, but if you don't know anything about industrial, you won't appreciate any of it. Several years after Vent broke up, I really missed the gigs, so I put up a flyer to try out for another band, but this time, I just wanted to do old fashioned rock. I hooked up with some guys that were either my age or older, (the drummer was my age, the bass and guitar player were much older) they had studio time and a great attituded. Alot of their original material was the old punk I was used too, and they did some metal. I managed to convince them to do two Alice In Chains songs. They took a liking to "Man In The Box", and "Would?" For that trade off, I agreed to do Ozzy's "Crazy Train" (even though I cannot stand Ozzy), and learned some tunes I kind of took a liking too. The Guitarist was a hopless drunk, and would show up for practice so loaded, that he would play like ****, and somtimes play the same song over, and over and over. He had some settlement from an accident where somone hit him, and he had alot of money, but he used to get pissed off for no reason, and take trips to Florida, while the rest of us were left holding the bag. After several botched practices and gigs, I left under the encouragement of the girlfreind I had at the time, who was also our first groupie. (not that I am into groupie sex, but you know...) Basically, she said I could do better, so I started auditioning for other bands, and it was a disaster, because most of the bands wanted to do Rage Against The Machine, 311, or Korn, which is just not my bag. Anyways, after several months, and after coming off of a nasty break up from this groupie, the band had re-united with some members from an older band and invited me to a gig, which I attended. I already had about 4 screwdrivers in me, when they showed up. They took me to the house for a warm-up, at which point they invited me to sing, and I sang every song, word for word, note for note, and their new lady singer was getting jealouse, and her husband, who was the new guitarist, was getting upset. Basically I stopped, but the other guys secretly told me how much they missed having me, and it got to me, but I was still drunk... We all go to the gig, and I help them set up the equipment and what not, then I go to the bar and order some more screwdrivers. They do a few songs, and I am digging it, and the drummer's girlfreind tells me..."That should be YOU up there". Once they started playing "Man In The Box", I jump on stage and grab the mic, and join in. Now we have a guy and a girl, doing duet singing an Alice In Chains song, but I am totally wasted, and from what I hear, I am singing like a drunk sailor at the time, and nobody had the heart to kick me off the stage. The last thing I remember, was the girl lead singer, crying after the gig, and the bass player driveing me home. Then the next day the bass player basically told me, I ruined the gig, and that the other members were all pissed at me. I have not done the band thing ever since, but God, I miss it... My new girlfreind has encouraged me, and I have not made a flyler yet, but damn... Yes, not all stories have a happy ending. I will post mp3s, when I find the demo tapes. Adure...
