TheVaderman
Does the story of this game just REALLY suck? I mean... for crying out loud, I just can't take this game serious. Kyle is the biggest gay-ass I have ever seen programmed in 3D, and Jan acts like she'd rather be in a mans body. I know this game is popular and don't missunderstand me, I enjoyed playing it cause fighting with the lightsaber was great and I think it's actually the best SW game, to date... but God, the characters, they suck SO BADLY!!! and the story is no freakin' excuse, what did a child write it or something? It's like LucasArts just found a great gameplay but didn't gave a sh*t about the story or anything else. Hope I didn't brake someones heart, I just think this game sucks... but what is your opinion really?

griff38
I hear ya. The story was kinda weak. I am sure I could have come up with something better. I didn't think the Kyle character was as dorky as Lukes though. Switch to MultiPlayer, no story line there.
Neverhoodian
Mark Hamill is my second least favorite actor of the Star Wars universe. (Hayden Christiansen is the first. What a preppy dork. Yes, I do like Ahmed Best. *Braces self for exclamations of horror and outrage for liking Jar Jar Binks*) His performance in A New Hope was the best, and he wasn't bad in the Empire Strikes Back, but he suddenly loses the farmboy appeal and becomes a super-serious sap in ROTJ. Not to say I think his performance is absolutely horrible, it's just that it could've used some work. (But Christiansen's...ugh, *gag.* Let's just say it's a good thing Star Wars is more about action and mythology than love scenes.) Well, the story does seem a little weak in some respects. Rhan stated in JK that the Valley of the Jedi would grant the conqueror immense powers, capable of "a supernova of stars in a fleeting thought. The eradication of a star system in a whisper." Yet when Desann goes to the Valley unopposed, all he does is create an army of Force sensitive warriors to assault (unsuccessfully) Luke's academy. I also wondered why Desann only had the Doomgiver. A few Remnant support vessels would've helped. I also wondered why didn't the Doomgiver subject Yavin to a planetary bombardment, reduce the temple to scrap, and then launch ground troops for mopping up? In any case, though, I love JO. (anyone who even begins to say "why don't you marry it?" is gonna get a mouthful of lightsaber) It's my favorite game ever. I can overlook the plot holes (like I can overlook Anakin's awful performance in Episode II for the movie) and have a good time playing it. Neverhoodian
Heh, now that you mention it, Prime, a fellow gamer with honor and I cleared a server of lamers by killing them so much that they left in disgust. Zappa_0
Yea the JO story was kinda weak compared to the JK story. Jerec and Dark Jedi along with The Valley Of The Jedi. JO could have used a few other things but its still good. Yea Prime is right, MP is an on going story amoung clans and other players.
Shotokan
You know... They should've had live action cutscenes like JK... I loved those and besides Jan was hot! Anyway the story is less engaging in Jedi Outcast and I don't really like Kyle. Why couldn't he be a bit cooler? I mean he should lose the beard... Antilles_CL
Ah well it least it HAD a plot..Some games are thrown together so fat that's they are no fun to play at all and totally confusing. Just wait for JA's story line
boinga1
Weeeell....the plot was fine until the very last Yavin levels...I mean, Desann's 'thousands' of Reborn all killed by Jedi wannabes? C'mon, those Jedi couldn't taken on a Reborn boss. The series just needs to leave the Valley alone...Its power is supposed to be gone now, but no, LEC brings it back... Neverhoodian
It turns out that not all of the Reborn were eliminated. In the latest Gamespy preview, they say that the Reborn return in JA along with some new "Force adept" warriors. I agree with you completely, Shotokan, live action cutscenes ala JK would have been EXCELLENT. Real actors can generate emotions much better than virtual characters. For example, compare the cutscene in JK with Kyle and Maw where Kyle must make his choice with Kyle and Tavion in JO. In both, Kyle is at the end of his ropes, his breaking point. Jason Court, who I think should have played Kyle's role in JO as well as JK, did a superb job with Kyle, and the actor for Maw captured his truly evil and sadistic personality. In JO, however, the characters are relatively emotionless and lacking depth and spirit.
boinga1
Personally, I loved the ingame cuts...I thought the JK one were...pretty bad. Kyle was mostly OK, but...most of the actors were kind of low-qual. Besides, the JK cuts were sooo freaking short. Do you think we would have had as many, or as long, cutscenes in JO with rel actors? Besides, it makes more sense to me...the JK Kyle didn't look at all like the actor (to me). At least with the in-game cutscenes, they will definately look alike. And about the emotion...you get the idea, right? You know he's not happy with Tavion, right? Anyway, it's a game not a movie...

Chewie Bakker
I find it funny, FireCam (Jonas), that you say the storyline sucks and then bag the characters. The storyline wasn't too bad, although the big bad lizard angle is clichéd, and the fact that they only sent the Doomgiver on an attack on Yavin, and Dessan used the power of the Valley to infuse his troops with the Force instead of turning himself into uber-dark Jedi like Jerek attempted in Dark Forces 2. Poor Kyle: He's getting to old for this $#%&. The storyline had holes big enough to drive an Imperial II class Star Destroyer through, but who cares: Any excuse to wield the Force and a lightsaber. The Force will be with you, always.
TK-8252
I agree that Jedi Outcast's story was kinda weak, but I think Mysteries of the Sith's story was worse. I mean, at times, I didn't even know what was happening! Plus, the ONLY people you EVER fought that had Lightsabers were the pathetic Sith Statues which were only in the last couple levels. HaruGlory89
The story really ain't that bad and I loved the end when the academy got assaulted. Then again, could've been better...
The Count
JO couldn't have live action cutscenes because Mark Hamil wouldn't play Luke in JO and I could picture (especially in this forum) the fan-boys uproar about "n0t haveng R3LA L00k3"
Kurgan
From what I hear, the story of Jedi Outcast is borrowed almost wholesale from the novel "I, Jedi" which, depending upon whom you ask, is either the greatest piece of SW literature ever, or the smelliest pile of dung on the EU heap... So take that how you will.

That WOULD have seemed the smart thing to do, but you've gotta remember, this is a time of chaos for the Empire... squabbling warlords and megalomaniacal Dark Jedi with delusions of grandeur. Desann's main shortcoming was undoubtably his overconfidence in the ability of his warriors to take out the Jedi in lightsaber/force combat (remember this well Saber-only advocates!). Admiral Feyar may have realized the real danger posed by Katarn and the New Republic too late, but long before Desann got it through his head that the cards were up and this plan was not going to work. Had Feyer been in charge of the assault on Yavin 4 instead of Desann seeing to it personally, perhaps he would have gotten the job done better, without all the Dark Jedi bravado getting in the way. We could speculate perhaps that Desann wanted the Jedi Temple intact for his own twisted purposes or to capture treasures inside, but with the Valley of the Jedi already in his hands, what possible need would he have of a few dusty holocrons and some old lightsabers? We may never know. Also, to the other spoiler folks We see at the end of Jedi Outcast that Reborn survive the battle, in addition one of the models featured over and over in the screenshots on the JA page at LA has the exact same face texture as one of the Reborns, so it's been clear for a long time that some of them were "converted' to the Jedi way.
