Emon
I'm working on what will eventually be a Battle for Hoth Siege level for JA, and I'm wondering if anyone has a floor plan, map, schematic, etc of the Rebels' Echo Base. I've Googled all over, and found nothing. Someone mentioned it might be in some SW Technical Journal, so if you happen to have that, I would really appreciate a scan of it. If I can't find one, I'll probably boot up that old Echo Base level for MotS, or the one for JO. Does anyone know how accurate these are? Any help is appreciated. (By the way, in case you are wondering, this doesn't belong in the editing forum, I am not seeking help on the construction of the level, I am seeking images on what I am building). KBell
I tried searching the Star Wars databank and Googling it, but i couldnt come up with anything. Sorry .
Neverhoodian
I don't think it really matters. Just create a map that has that "Echo Base" feel to it. Different Lucasarts games have made Echo Base look different. From the screenies I've seen, the JA Echo Base looks MUCH different from the Shadows of the Empire Echo Base. Just make sure you have some recognizable landmarks, like the main hanger with some Snowspeeders or some halls and control rooms with those glass sensor-thingies. Perhaps a downed walker could be outside. Heck, maybe even the bacta tank where Luke was in or the Wampa quarantine room. (the quarantine room was in a deleted scene. When Han, Leia and 3PO are running down a hallway, Han tears off a danger sign on the door. Some snowtroopers enter the room and loud roars can be heard)
Emon
It matters to me. The idea was to make it as close to the movie as possible. The Hoth level in JA has nothing to do with the real Echo Base, it's a fake thing of sorts. The idea that it's just like the movie is what will give it the atmosphere. Matt-Liell
Well there is no real one that I can find, but I did draw something up for you based on places gone to and mentioned in the movie, it could be like a base plan and you could add on other details accurately with this, this is my floor plan of echobase judging by where everyone went. Hope I helped!
The Cheat
kind of like how living dead jedis maps are so amazing because they are so accurate and you can actually pick out details from the movies
Emon
1. That's pretty helpful, but I don't think it's so accurate. The shield generator in the movie looked way back in the middle of no where, although I think it is much closer to the base than shown (clearly a filming ****up). I think, on your map, it would be in the top left, and pushed back quite a bit. You'd want it in a safer location. 2. Someone from Massassi can get me some official floor plans and blue prints within the next few days, but thanks for your help.

Emon
Hahaha... I usually wouldn't bump after that, but it was getting pretty low on the list. Besides, it seems to have worked.

Emon
About LDJ's maps, as good as they are, aren't always that accurate. Infact, they rarely are, but that isn't necessarily his fault. My only real beef with them is performance and lack of play testing. Anyways, I want the map to be accurate, because I want to play The Battle of Hoth, not something just similar. Lil Killa
my advice would be to get the DVD/movie and put your tv in there with your comp unless your comp has a dvd player and then watch the scenes with the base over and over again till u get a feel for where everything is. This won't help much though as there is probably tones the movie didn't sjow :/ BUT it's a start:D

Emon
No problem. I have the VHS, but I also have a rip of it on my PC so I could watch it easier. They didn't show much.
Dagobahn Eagle
First of all, list the rooms in the base that appeared in the movie. These include Princess Leia's private bedroom, the Main Hangar, several hallways, the command center, and the hangar the Millenium Falcon is parked in (I think this is a separate hangar bay, check the movie). Edit: Oh, and the MedBay with the bacta tanks. Forgot that one:). This leaves you with five rooms/chambers, and the movie implicates more rooms: Dorms of other pilots, troops, and other rebels. Princess Leia Organa has a private chamber, which implies that other higher-ranking members of the rebel force at Echo Base will have one too, especially those ranking above her. Storage rooms, as there's more equipment in the base than what you see in the Main Hangar. The power generator appears to be more than big enough for the power the base needs, but consider making a room inside the base for curcuit boards, or to serve as a power substation or something. Giving you: Private dorms of higher-ranking rebels. Dorms for the rest of the rebels (maybe segregated, with dorms for pilots only near the hangar, soldiers near the main entrance, etc.) Command and Control Room Storage Rooms Hangars Hallways -duh:). Power substation, power control room? Edit: MedBay Second, think about the fact that it's an underground base hastily blasted into an ice mountain. You don't know how many tunnels the rebels had time to make, so assume there aren't more than one or two tunnels between each of the rooms and chambers. Then consider the base from a tactical/strategical point of view. Shouldn't pilots' dorms be close to the hangar, and the military officers be within reach of the command room, etc.? Something else I thought about: Did you check the d12 Star Wars Roleplaying Game? I think it was by Wizards of the Coast. If you don't have it, head down to a games/hobby store like Games Workshop and browse trough some of the rule books and faction books. One of them might have a map of Echo Base. Finally, get a map of the Finse/Hardangerjoekulen region of Norway, where the movie was filmed. Roge Leader's base, according to the documentary, had the terrain pretty accurately modelled after Norway, and thus the "real" Echo Base. Consider checking the official Rogue Leader Strategy Guide for a map of the Hoth level. -Dagobahn Eagle

Ya it would be a bit further back though the whole base is pretty much underground so I couldn't really overlap it it would get confusing. But I'm glad you got some blueprints and I'm eager to see them!

Neverhoodian
No kiddin' Shotokan. I mean, who doesn't want to play in a Battle of Hoth scenario? If it's possible to drive an AT-ST and man gun turrets in JA, it would be even better. The Imperials could have a mix of soldiers and AT-ST drivers, (it would be possible to dismount and go on foot, of course) and the Rebels could have soldiers and gun turret operators. (who also could get out) Depending on how many features will be allowed in MP, it could be one epic battle indeed.
