  1. I'd be happy with a remaster, let alone a sequel! Please let it be Forge!
  2. Guilty as charged here. I've been harsh with CMI in the past, and ironically now that RMI is going for that art style, to my eyes it only reinforced the "legitimacy" of the hyper cartoony style chosen for CMI. Not that it needed my approval, but yeah I now realize what I thought about it was wrong, even Ron likes his cartoony Monkey Island. So I kinda fully made peace with CMI now (which I always loved by the way).
  3. Came here just to check that the conversation got heated as I expected. It did.
  4. Absolutely! I mean I also turned up my nose to the art style, I'd definitely have preferred something else, but I'm simply happy this thing exists in the first place. It's pretty much a little miracle imho. People there are behaving like Ron owes them anything, it's unbelievable. Love it or leave it, but why the whining???
  5. I find this hilarious and couldn't agree more. The comment section was becoming a freaking den for delusional psychopaths. It's incredible how entitled some "fans" can be. They just won't stop whining about the new style, like it's gonna change anything. And I'm saying this as someone who is still a bit puzzled by the art style. What a bunch of morons, I feel sorry for Ron.
  6. Correct, but I'll admit I'd sell a kidney for the promotional voodoo doll made for MI2:SE. If anyone in here has it and wants a spare kidney, I'm here for you folks.
  7. Sure, it's still in the archive. Wilmunder was uploading so much stuff back in the day, too bad he stopped. Here: https://archive.org/details/indy5roomdesign1
  8. I believe you might be referring to Plunder? Or did you mean Lucre in EMI?
  9. Sorry, I don't think it's reasonable security by far. The wackiness of DOTT was appropriate for something that was by all means a reboot of the Maniac Mansion franchise. Monkey Island had solid foundations that didn't need that much of a dramatic change. I suggest you have a look to the design document of the cancelled Indiana Jones and the Iron Phoenix. It was certainly cartoony, but far more serious and proportioned than DOTT. Edit: sorry, you already did. The page didn't update properly.
  10. It is, the screenshot caption was chosen by Terrible Toybox and it clearly states it is.
  11. Don't tell me you got it for 8 fucking hundred bucks?! I've seen similar prices on eBay.
  12. Yeah, honestly it's just part of the gameplay. I never really understood people who use hintbooks for a graphic adventure game.
  13. Yeah don't worry about it, Thimbleweed Park clearly paved the way in that sense. You can just pretend it doesn't exist and go the only respectable way old school way without hints. I wanna get stuck, bang my head against the screen, all those Monkey Island things I'm so fond of.
  14. It all depends on a couple of things: how well RMI does once released how much Tim Schafer is interested (I'm referring to Grim Fandango or Maniac Mansion 3) how much Microsoft is interested (it would be involved with the deal this time) As for Freelance Police, the most you can expect is a build of the game leaking, as happened for that World of Warcraft point and click adventure game a few years ago. All in all, what I do find most likely (and I don't find it very likely anyway) is Maniac Mansion 3 from Double Fine.
  15. Hah would be awesome! Now that you said it, I really hope it starts with an amusement park variation of the Monkey Island theme, to then transition to the "real" one!
  16. I'm impressed by his performance! TIL anyway, thanks guys!
  17. Sorry, this is not how it works in a creative and vibrant environment such as the games industry, let alone in a game company like LucasArts at their peak. It wasn't written in stone that the game after Indy4 would have adopted the style that DOTT eventually adopted. The artistic/graphical style of a product is decided on a per-game basis, depending on an incredible amount of things, people, resources, budget etc. For all we know, if MI3 was created in 1992, it might have adopted a The Dig style, a Full Throttle one or who knows what. Or, why not, even a DOTT style. What I'm trying to say is that in a game development context 2 and 2 is not always 4. Well, luckily it is, otherwise our computers wouldn't work and we wouldn't have games. But if you get my drift, my point is that your deduction is just your personal hope (which I respect), not an actual deduction.
  18. I'm particularly excited about the location under Monkey Island, with classic mushrooms included. I knew there would be something else under Monkey Island in Ron's vision, or that at least it would be part of "the secret" somehow. Whatever that is, if there even IS one.
  19. So, what do you guys think about the new screenshots? Love the style of everything but the humans. Personally I'm not a fan of the blocky nose. Still everything else looks quite cool to me!
  20. This is fantastic, and tempts me to unwrap my own copy of the book. It shows the creative process so well. The whole Part 1 is basically 2 sentences long, because there's no need to say how the voodoo doll was obtained. Great, great stuff.
  21. You're very welcome! I think I do have an account on the TWP forums but never really posted there. I love that there's direct contact with Ron, Gary and David but on the other hand their presence there also causes a level of kissassery from regular users desperately trying to impress them / look smart that is a little too much to bear for me. I lurk from time to time though, because of interesting posts from the authors like that one.
