  1. Why does he look like a posh aristocrat in all of these? 😂
  2. I've always been confused about one joke in Curse, amd I was wondering if you guys could clarify it for me. On Skull Island, you can say "that diamond belongs in a museum!" to which King Andre responds "so do post impressionist paintings". Guybrush is confused and King Andre assures him that "one day, you will understand". What's the joke here? In Last Crusade, the response to "it belongs in a museum" is "so do you" so my best guess is that he's calling Guybrush a post impressionist painting. Would you describe Curse's artstyle (of the characters at least, if not the backgrounds) as post-impressionist?
  3. Well, he already settled on law in Tales, prosecuting Guybrush, but after nearly losing his jacket to the moths of the Flotsam Jungle he considered doing the job naked, "you've got nothing to hide...and neither does he". It'd be pretty funny to see a plaid bar over the "important bits" move with his walking animation instead of his jacket, though that might border on Larry humour. I agree though, the Previously Owned theme should return.
  4. Imo picking Gavin Hammon for Stan feels like a deliberate choice to fit alongside Tales chronologically. Oh god...what if he actually took the "naked attorney at law" thing and ran with it?! Avert your eyes, kids.
  5. I have a feeling Dom has constant mice with snipers hooked up to their ears watching him every minute, so I doubt he'll spill the beans, but I would love to know who's playing LeChuck, but even if he can't tell us, it'd be interesting to hear if Dom's heard the new voice @Glokiddreally convinced me that Gary Chalk, who played Willie and Carney Joe in Thimbleweed Park would be a great choice for the role. He's similar in age to Boen and his past voicework sounds like he could do a good impression of him while adding his own flavor .
  6. Well....finally my starting word just nails it. 👕 I beat #Mojole and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. 1/6 💚💚💚💚💚 https://funzone.mixnmojo.com/Mojole/ Sent from Mail for Windows
  7. It's also Disney, the company known for rotoscoping entire characters out of their movie trailers, so either way, there's increased likelihood of you being, as the kids say, punk'd. That and the fact that doing so would be a Star Wars reference (the whole Mark Hamill getting a false page for the Vader reveal thing), as Monkey Island likes to make abundant use of.
  8. Look...I think if anyone has earned the right to brag about inside knowledge, it's the voice of Guybrush Threepwood. That being said...I'm super jealous I wonder if what Ron said about the false secret in the script was true. Once the game is out it'd be interesting to hear what you read vs what we got, that's sure to generate some interesting discussion!
  9. The man, the myth, the legend is here! hi Dom! Can't wait to hear new lines from you in official capacity once again, it's honestly still surreal that it's happening, lord knows what it must be like for you. Haha everyone's got their line, that's fair. You are right about it being a bit of an overdone trope.
  10. So now that we have official confirmation that Stan is who Gavin Hammon is playing, this brings us back to Ron's comment on the cross-stitch. Everyone but Voodoo Lady and the monkey is confirmed....I'd be pretty disappointed if VL isn't in this but the piano playing monkey is returning. It feels like this is just a Ron Gilbert joke, no? Also, now that Stan is confirmed, we can continue the speculation about how his presence keeps Curse's timeline intact. Stuck in the coffin the whole game? Kinda lame imo and would make we wish they just ignored Curse to let him have another unique business, unless it's a TARDIS-like coffin that is an entire shop we explore, I could see that happening . Stan clones/twins? Honestly, the idea of Stan himself being a franchise spread far and wide through the caribbean as different (identical) people fits really well to me. The time jump to post Tales? Probably the most likely and least messy, doesn't draw attention to canon questions at all.
  11. That would be cool too! Btw does anyone know what specifically is holding ScummVM back from high-res modding?
  12. It's my dream that one day the ScummVM guys perfect the high res texture pack modding that they've only just touched on with some Sierra games and we can put unpixellated MI2 backgrounds in the full game. Heck, I'd settle for the SE backgrounds since we don't have all the original scans of Peter Chan's artwork.
  13. Looking at the wavebanks for the Special Editions, MI1 has 4551 lines, MI2 has 7157. Apparently Curse has around 8500 lines, and Escape has over 10,000 lines. Using the Telltale Extractor, Tales has around 7-8000 lines. Bascially, this is gonna be the most densely packed game in the series as far as dialog goes.
  14. One of the guys from that video did a speedrun marathon of all 5 games, and I gotta say, it's quite impressive. One part I found particularly interesting was that you don't have to take down any of Jojo Jr's hitpoints until you're down to one and then one hit will eliminate all of his except one where he draws and you beat him. What a crazy strat.
  15. This is actually pretty huge news...a count (or rough estimate) of the lines of dialog in the game! According to Mojo's Secret History article on Escape from Monkey Island, that game had about 10,000 lines of dialog, and that game was pretty big. Looks like we're in for a hefty beast of an adventure game, and after all these years waiting for a new entry, that's really good to hear.
  16. Is it possible that all the buildings are just painted blue? 😂 Imagine if it turns out that screenshot is set during the day and that's just what the buildings look like
  17. Ok, I've made it, it's all in a Google Drive. Just want to get an all clear from moderators to actually post it, otherwise I guess PMs will have to do.
  18. I wonder what that will be for in the game. Are we really going back to insult swordfighting again?
  19. I kinda received it in the same way you're meant to receive something like Looney Toons Back in Action or Ready Player One. Like those movies, it's designed to be a reference explosion, and I think it works because it's so unapologetic in its approach, it doesn't feel cynical to me.
  20. The Thimbleweed Park discussion is interesting because I absolutely love the game, and the tongue in cheek in-jokes really worked for me, but at the same time it totally makes sense if you just want a game with its own story first without a constant barrage of meta-humour. I think that because it felt so committed to the bit that it didn't feel out of place to me and so it wasn't distracting. Now onto spoilers:
  21. If nothing else, they can watch video walkthroughs or look up the main story beats on the MI Wiki
  22. Does this imply that Wally the cartographer is also Where's Wally? or do you call him Waldo?
  23. In the words of Fink, "oh no, not this story again!" 😂
  24. We're definitely close to more concrete news about the release: The Game Awards' Twitter account responded with a little train emoji...I'm going to take that as tacit confirmation that they'll be showing the game off at Summer Games Fest...probably with a release date.
