  1. The question is...who purchased the option after it expired with Double Fine?
  2. Good on Ron for shutting it down, but holy shit I wish it wasn't necessary. There's been a lot of unnecessary hate. We're getting a new Monkey Island game, we should be so grateful for that. May I also point out that it's not like he's gone and turned it into a kart racing game or a first person shooter, it's going to be an honest-to-goodness point and click with a story that has the characters we know and love, and really, that's what counts.
  3. It seems like they're still busy in the recording studio for the voices. I don't expect it will be too long though before we get more stuff. I doubt we'll be waiting until Summer Game Fest, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if the game's out by then. Fingers crossed that next week we'll get a trailer and some more interviews. I agree that PAX would've been the best place to show something though. It's not over yet though.
  4. No...no it's not. 👕 I beat #Mojole and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. 4/6 💛💚🖤🖤🖤 🖤🖤🖤🖤💚 🖤💚🖤💚💚 💚💚💚💚💚 https://funzone.mixnmojo.com/Mojole/
  5. I was planning to get them printed out onto an adhesive poster, what is the actual page size I'd need to print them to? Is it just standard A4?
  6. I think this also goes to show how much creative projects can change once you start to sit down and actually make the thing. That's why I always knew Ron was never going to 100% adhere to his 2013 blog post. You have all these thoughts and ideas that feel so rigid when you first come up with them but if you're not open enough to let those things change, sometimes beyond recognition, you end up with something unchallenging and kinda soulless. I know it sounds really cliche and pretentious, but so much of the creative journey is born out of letting the ride take you away into places unknown. Not only that, but when you're working on something as collaborative as a videogame, you have to listen to the input of others. This is I think where conversations with Dave Grossman probably had a lot to do with how Return in its current form took shape. It doesn't mean that he "compromised his vision" or "broke his promises to the fans", it just means that he surrendered to the process. We all love Monkey Island 2 for what it became at its final stage, not for the original design document, and who knows, maybe that one would''ve been good too, but just like a film script, it's just a blueprint, it's not a religious text.
  7. Do we know if Ron or anyone representing Terrible Toybox will be at PAX East tomorrow? I know Devolver are there but they don't seem to be indicating that Monkey Island is one of the things they're showing. I REALLY hope we get something though, that would be the perfect time to get a lot of eyes on the game. Otherwise the next big convention is Summer Game Fest which I believe is all online and we don't even know if the game will be out before or after that. I'm just starved for info now, even though it's only been 2 weeks since the announcement 😂
  8. That was way harder than it should've been for what it was. 👕 I beat #Mojole and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. 5/6 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 🖤💛💚🖤🖤 💛🖤💚💛💛 💚💚💚💚💚 https://funzone.mixnmojo.com/Mojole/
  9. I think that's probably what will happen. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if a Curse remaster was already in the works. Once Skunkape are done with Sam & Max, they'll need something new to work on, and Tales would be perfect if they're not already working on a new Sam & Max season. I could even see them doing a second season of Tales if the new Telltale pass on it (they seem to still be solely focused on post-Walking Dead style games). I would also love to see a remaster of Escape, even if it's just for completion's sake. It'd be great if the Special Editions of 1&2 got a second pass to fix some of the unfinished art (MI1 melee forest especially) and weird removals of things (opening credits in MI2, vertical scrolling, etc), but I think that part might be wishful thinking. Maybe if they got ported to the Switch I could see them tweaking it a bit and why not patch the PC version while you're at it? It'd even be worth it just to update MI1 to have voice in classic mode and be able to mix and match the new music with the old graphics (especially in MI2 which not even the Ultimate Talkie Edition can do); basically just adding the features that were put into Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle. As for other Lucasarts stuff? Give Brian Moriarty his Loom trilogy, and remaster the first one with fully voiced, uncut dialog. Craig Derrick has also wanted to get a remaster of Maniac Mansion greenlit for ages now, so I can see that being a big priority.
  10. Finally! 2/5. though for some reason the share didn't work. Oh well.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a lot more new info at Pax East which is at the end of the week. According to the blog, Thimbleweed Park was doing voiceover in January and came out at the end of March. Of course, that game involved several different voice actors recording the same lines because you were playing multiple characters, so we might actually be closer to release if we assume that Guybrush still gets the most lines. Then again, we also don't know how big the game is (I'm hoping it's a decent size, we already know of 4 locations: The Carnival, Melee Island, Monkey Island and a new island where it snows) , so there are a few things to factor in there. I hope it comes out soon though, I'm dying to play it!
  12. That still looks like white hair to me more than a chef's hat. He's giving me grumpy old man vibes, that's gotta be the storekeeper.
  13. Damn, you guys are making me want to watch Twin Peaks. I know barely anything about it too, other than it's a murder mystery in a small town and there might be some paralell universe stuff (?)
  14. Yeah, it's random every time, but essentially if you just save every time you push/pull the lever, you can load back if you make a mistake and just brute force it through trial and error.
  15. I've seen speedruns where they just save and load over and over again, trying different combinations until it works. Saved them some time having to backtrack between the storekeeper and Stan's.
  16. Anytime! And yes, I totally wrote this from memory. I've played these games A LOT (as I'm sure many of you guys have).
  17. The interaction between Guybrush and the Voodoo Lady makes it very clear that they haven't seen each other since he was searching for Big Whoop. From Curse: GB: "Boy have I got some stories to tell you!" VL:"Stories?! Yes...well, I'm sensing a great disturbance. I have to go". GB: "But I've gotta tell you about LeChuck! And Elaine!" VL: "I'm going to disappear now in a big flash of light, cover your eyes! GB: "No no, wait! It started back on Dinky Island...and I knew LeChuck was close..." VL: "I'll be disappearing here any moment!" GB: "Ok, ok, no stories" Or this: GB: "I finally found Big Whoop and was enormously disappointed" VL: "Big Whoop is pure evil. You were lucky to escape alive" GB: "I can't remember much about it, just that I was expecting so much more and felt so let down." VL: "Yes, it is the source of much of LeChuck's power"
  18. EMI to me has the more aggregious retcon with Herman Toothrot, because it actively changes a character to the point where they can never re-enter the series as the same person; in other words, it did Irreparable damage. Tales, on the other hand, is an inconsistency at worst. I liked all the Crossroads stuff in Chapter 5 anway, so I'm not too bothered about that, but you could always argue that LeChuck used Big Whoop AND a spell, though I understand if that's a bit of a stretch. I don't think Ron needs to explain anything, just don't acknowledge it. Really, the only thing I hope Ron addresses if in fact any of it is set Post-Tales, is the after credits scene where the Voodoo Lady is clearly not done meddling with, as she puts it "the tides of destiny". That entire plotpoint, to me, was some of the best in the series and I'd love to see that developed more. It wouldn't surprise me if that reveal was Ron's idea in the brainstorming (maybe jake or someone can confirm).
  19. Alexandra Boyd is confirmed as Elaine and interestingly, Gavin Hammon as Stan, who played him in Tales. I wonder if Pat Pinney was asked or did Ron not like his voice? Idk, that's adding to my suspicion that we're getting some post-Tales stuff. I mean, his very presence in this game would nullify Curse as canon (which we now know they have been careful not to do). Either that or we just put him in the coffin AGAIN, but that just feels really uninspired for these writers. The presence of the Voodoo Lady would nullify Curse as canon too because Guybrush clearly hasn't seen her since the events of 2 when he sees her in that game. The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking that this is gonna be a MI3/MI6 at the same time sorta deal, where the people who want to ignore the post-Gilbert era are free to, but it can take place mostly at a much later period of the characters' lives after we deal with the immediate aftermath of MI2's ending. To me, that's the cleanest way to bring in fan favourites from any entry in the series and not have to engage with any inconsistencies. I can picture the structure going something like: Part One - Carnival, Part Two - Time skip with a new status quo that sets up the main plot. Part Three and Four - Ending, Secret Revealed, Battle with LeChuck, etc. I also just like stories that take places over different time periods, and the Monkey Island series has never done that, it would be something new to explore and an older, experienced Guybrush with Ron's writing would be super cool and kinda unexpected.
  20. Both of those things would be awesome! I'm also hoping Mojo might be able to nab an interview or two with the key people involved with Return and find out how this all came together and also clarify some of the finer details (Canon, for example).
  21. Largo has always been my top pick for a returning character. The advantage of this being a world full of voodoo magic, ghosts and zombies also means that even if he died in the explosion at the fortress, you could easily bring him back. Bring on undead Largo!
  22. If I'm following the timeline correctly, Microsoft didn't buy Double Fine until Ron was already into development so it's possible Tim could be involved on some level but he's not a core designer. I could see him being asked to write a bit of dialog for characters that were his to write for originally, but that's probably about it.
  23. Haha, now I'm picturing Guybrush sitting with Bart and Fink, maybe others telling this story. That sounds hilarious!
  24. The main reason I've thought time travel or multiverses might be a thing was because I think ATM mentioned once that Ron implied their existence, but he would know more about that than me and could correct me if I'm off base on that.
