  1. Seems from replies to some of these from him and other artists on the project that this was a version that Spielberg was playing around with as late as Feb 2020, while he was still on to direct.
  2. Heh heh Yeah, definitely not suggesting you recreate that arrangement (although that would be an interesting bonus track!) but I do like some stuff about it, like some of the instrument choices, the way the brass section often hold notes for a while (I do not know music terminology!) etc.
  3. Promising start, though! You've obviously heard this live performance already, as you posted it, but I'm wondering if it will provide some inspiration. It makes some strong choices, some missteps:
  4. Many tracks left to add? Also, any plans to do the same for DOTT?
  5. I think we've talked elsewhere about how the Lucasarts adventure scores would often riff on existing tunes. I can't find that right now, but as this is HtR-specific, and may even inspire Laserschwert if they's not aware already, I figure this is as good a place as any to post about how I heard this fishing-themed song on a tv show: and realised that it sounds very much like the World Of Fish theme from HtR! (51m43s in, and can also be heard in Laserschwert's Soundcloud embed in the OP, of course) Amazing how many of these cheeky references they snuck in to soundtracks I've heard a million times without ever being aware!
  6. I've actually finished chapter 26 now, which apparently means I'm about 90% through the book. But like I said, I'll look back over the previous chapters as we go through them here. In chapter 10, the thing that struck me most was how human Blackbeard is. He's not the unapproachable demon that LeChuck or even his Thatch legend is. Also, cool that he's constantly got bits of his head on fire, COMI style! Chapters 11 and 12 are really effective in making you feel like you've stepped into another world. Harwood is unnervingly unhinged from reality, suddenly there are a bunch of new physical laws and magical rules to deal with, and there's even a Lovecraftian giant invisible intelligence bearing down on everyone. Blackbeard again is more of a formidable, impressive presence than a terrifying one. I also like how so much time is spent on this one expedition, again really makes it feel like a journey into the heart of darkness. I didn't even notice the similarity of the fungus heads to those in SOMI, as I was too grossed out by them! Getting to Blackbeard and the fountain of youth made me tempted to re-watch the Pirates Of The Caribbean Stranger Tides movie, though I probably won't bother in the end as I remember it being crap!
  7. Stunning work, well done. Interesting to see on Florczak's website a fair few pieces in very similar territory and yet not a single mention of this piece.
  8. Yes! I am a little further ahead, but will go back and remind myself of the chapters so I can join in as you discuss them!
  9. Yeah, I wasn't sure what was going on with that thread so I continued reading it! Am happy to slow my roll a little and resume the book club
  10. People have different opinions on movies, it's okay.
  11. I did not like it at all. Full spoilers in the hidden section below. Where Crystal Skull was cartoonish to the point of stupidity, this is bland to the point of soulessness. There's no flair, no wit, no excitement, no sparkle. Crystal Skull may have been awful, but at least it was an awful Indiana Jones movie. This is just some charmless 2020s schedule-filler wearing an Indy mask.
  12. As noted on the News page, the same channel that did the video I linked to in OP has done one for MI2: EDIT: ahh, this is the interview Ronzo was referring to when he dug out the LeChuck spawn code and posted it on his blog a while back (also reported on the News page at the time!): https://grumpygamer.com/speed_running_mi
  13. Along with Daniel's Dave Grossman interview, a new fan doc on the making of DOTT came out yesterday: (This got a mixnmojo news post a week or so ago, but it wasn't publicly available at that point.) As I said on Twitter, they mention that Hit The Road came out in the same year, which reminded me how little retrospective attention that game gets comparatively. I guess the DOTT remaster had something to do with that, plus it's generally thought of as the better game, but I love HTR too and would love to see a bunch more behind the scenes stuff for it.
  14. I'll only play The Dig again if they put that fourth character back in...
  15. I doubt this, as it only came about because someone happened to raise the question of the maps used for the Hit The Road box for a personal project, and the purchase of a book with the original map used for FoA was crowdfunded on here.
  16. I googled it and found some old reddit thread sharing it!
  17. LRG as in Limited Run? They don't produce remakes; they produce physical editions, sometimes of remakes.
  18. Plus, they've got too much on what with Full Throttle 2 and Grim Fandango 2 in the works.
  19. Games Done Quick is a speedrunning-for-charity event that's been going on for a fair few years now, and this year had at least a couple of Lucasarts adventures on the roster. Here's someone razzing their way through COMI:
  20. Same, I've been holding off till the forums were back up so I could make sure we were synced! So I've still only read chapter 9, I'll wait until you update the thread title before moving onto 10.
  21. Read chapter 9, very much enjoyed it. Getting Sansa/Dontos vibes off Beth and this new fella. His backstory with Blackbeard was amazing, Thatch keeps getting scarier (though I liked the hints that perhaps the guy was not wholly innocent either) and it was good to get more from Beth's perspective too.
