  1. Soooo, today’s #TreasureTuesday! 🥳 What do you guys think Ron will post for us today? Also really looking forward to #WallyWednesday, #ThreepwoodThursday, #FanserviceFriday, #ScummbarSaturday and of course #SecretRevealedOrYourMoneyBackSunday! 🙂
  2. Okay, you're right there, of course. But to me, those were never "animated" title charts, but rather parchment backgrounds on which they simply put text and still had room for one or two character models... They weren't really designed as a cohesive, animated screens (at least to me).
  3. I think (!) in Tales the parchment flew away at the end, which was nice. The other ones were just still, yes. I think as the rest of what we saw is so we'll animated and lively, that this feels a bit "boring" to me. But maybe they'll animate it a bit more later (or it feels different in the game itself). Anyway, it still looks great and miles better than the ones in EMI. 😬
  4. Thanks! Amazing how good it sounds anyway (especially for 1997). I’ll definitely listen to the score more carefully next time! As for the title chart: I really like the look, but can’t help to think, that it looks a bit… stiff? I think I’d prefer it to have a bit more animation than just a small zoom at the beginning… but maybe they’ll at some for the final game.
  5. Yes! 🙂 No, really. Id love to know, as I’d always wondered (maybe in another thread). To me it all sounds live (but I don’t have a very good ear for such things, so…). Didn’t Ron mentioned somewhere 100 % live instruments? Or can this mean a mix too? As for me, I don’t care at all, if real instruments or synth, as long as it sounds good! And this title card definitely sounds good. 🥰
  6. Okay, this thread had to get out of hand at some point... 😶😅 I don't know if it's an unpopular opinion, but I think Elaine should have remained a pure cameo character after MI2 (like Stan for example). Mostly she's just ballast for the story anyway, or rather the story is written with her in mind specifically. Tales did spice things up with Morgan (love her!), but in the end it was all about Elaine again and I didn’t like her character here either. I'm very curious how it all behaves in ReMI and whether I might change my mind about her.
  7. Wow, I have seen some of them. Great to have them all as a list – thank you! 😍
  8. Oh and by the way, for those crazy amazing fans here who like to listen to the trailer on the go like me, here's an album cover for "Return" using the new artwork:
  9. All good, no problem. There's no time pressure and I was also a little busy these days, so I only got around to answering now. Don't worry. 🙂 Of course, we've taken on the most difficult candidate with Monkey Island 2 first... In the end there are good arguments for every tracklist - and it depends on your own taste. For the booklet, it would be best to have the tracks sorted by island, because then you could divide it up in the layout and make it a bit clearer that way. But of course it's much more important that the listening experience is right, since that's what it's all about here. And of course it's also important how you listen to the soundtrack: Do you let it run completely and want the perfect experience from beginning to end? (Then your last tracklist seems to be the best choice.) Or do you like to change directly to a certain track from time to time? For the Special Edition I made a tracklist back then, which is on the one hand quite detailed (Woodtick in single tracks, but still listenable as a suite e.g.) and on the other hand more or less chronological (Rapp Scallion in the last third): For me personally this would also be the better choice for a CD, because 1. I like to be able to get to individual variations of tracks ("Largo version" of Woodtick) and 2. I always find it strange when e.g. Rapp Scallion comes already at the beginning, because it doesn't correspond so to the playing experience. (Though of course tracks that are similar in melody and setting are torn apart this way...). In the end, as I said before, it's completely a matter of taste and depends on how you like to listen to it. I would not include the running time in the booklet, because it is not really that informative. But maybe you just put them here for the division on two CDs. Btw: Can you get an hour of music on a normal audio CD at all? All such things would have to be checked before. As for the type of soundtrack, the question would also be whether we stick with the layout to the original game if it's the music from the SE. Unless you plan to put both soundtracks on the shelf and listen to them, I would go with the OG images and take the SE music. The SE is the better choice in most cases, even if a few tracks like the "Underground Tunnels" are better in the original version to me. I would suggest that you just look which tracks and which order are best for you personally and burn them on two CDs as a test. And if everything fits well for you, we set the tracklist and names. 🙂
  10. We really got plenty with the trailer! Almost too much, in my opinion, and I'm a little afraid that there won't be enough "new stuff" in the end. But we will see. Missing from the list above were the release date, LeChuck's voice and more information on gameplay mechanics or controls. All things I am really curious about – but it was pretty unlikely we get even one of them. Hearing the "new Bone" would have been nice, but I just hope he's good and fits to LeChucks ReMI design. And even though it would be nice to know the release date, I don't think it's that "important" at the moment, since I don't think it isn't coming until September anyway.
  11. A CMI remaster with upscaled backgrounds and better audio would be nice, of course, but it’d be more like a “nice to have” to me. I’d rather have an EMI remaster with better graphics and and point & click. The keyboard controls really are clunky and take away some of the fun (as everything takes so long). And maybe redo the background – never was a fan of those pre-rendered ones. As for a TMI remake/remaster my wish list would be: - new character models for all the ones that were reused - better lighting (especially Ep. 1) - maybe P&C if possible - Soundtrack with live instruments/orchestra In the case of MI1 and MI2 I’d love to see the games remade with Rex Crowle adapting the look of Return. The scrapbook pictures in the ReMI trailer shows, how well that could work. The voice cast could stay, although I’d personally prefer some of the more goofier voices to be recast. While remaking the games it could also be fun, if Ron Gilbert said down to change some puzzles slightly or incorporating new ones, to give the player something new not only in art and sound (although I’d prefer a completely new one after ReMI).
  12. I've heard several times now in YouTube videos or comments that the game is supposed to be Switch exclusive at the beginning... Is there any official confirmation somewhere or did these people just interpret the sentence "Return to Monkey Island sets sail for Nintendo Switch and PC later this year" in the way that the "later" refers to PC? It could mean both, couldn't it?
  13. I have to say, I'm actually really glad that I like the graphics of "Return" so much! Rex Crowle's style is, in my opinion, much closer to the first two parts than the other games - and I think it's the most coherent of all! Everything fits together so well: From the backgrounds, to the characters, to the animation. It just seems like it's all of one piece (dunno if the expression is right...). You don't have to like it, but it's certainly not cheap or unfinished, as some "haters" claim. I remember being pretty disappointed with the look of Tales when it was first announced with the trailer. It actually seemed kind of cheap and unfinished to me, and I still think the first chapter isn't really "pretty". But when I played the first episode, everything already seemed better while playing and especially the story and mood convinced me. Also, from chapters 2 and 3 on, it was noticeable that Telltale really put in the effort to improve the graphics within the scope of possibilities (thanks, Wii...). The character models became better/different and the lighting more elaborate, so that I was really pleased with the game's visuals in the end. I'm still not convinced by some of the design choices (I don't like LeChuck's look at all in his zombie form, for example), but later, everything looks very coherent, especially in Episode 4 and 5. It's a shame it wasn't like that from the start... (Remaster please?) Either way, though, the game was otherwise really great! 🥰 To make a long story short: I can understand if one finds that the look of "Tales" looks a bit cheap and unfinished (at the beginning), but in "Return" everything, to me, is very elaborated and crafted with a lot of time and love - at least if you go by the trailer. And apart from that, the graphic style is also only one aspect of many ( even if it's the most prominent one). 🙂 I really do hope that people, who hate the art style that much right now, will give it a chance and get used to it. Because: This game just looks like it'll be awesome!
  14. So „Monkey Island 3a: The Secret Revealed or your money back“ it is. Great! 😍
  15. I really liked the zoom-out effect in Tales for the maps. Perhaps a small transition to a more map like overview...
  16. Or "The Monkey of Secret Island" to piss everyone of totally.
  17. Hmm… I tried that in my last playthroughs, but either there was a lag (and I really hate that) or I had to make so many adjustments to the picture quality that the colors just looked ugly - or I am just too stupid for that stuff. 😅 But I guess, this also depends mich on which tv you have? (Mine is an LG.)
  18. I think it wasn't mentioned here already, but Ron confirmed a Mac release and said that PC would be the port. I'm just wondering why they don't mention Mac at all on the websites then? 🤔 If both really come out at the same time, I'll be faced with a difficult decision: Either play on the small MacBook with classic Point&Click - or on the Switch on the big OLED TV. As long as the controls are good (Ron has hinted at this several times), the latter would be fantastic! But really I hope we get a glimpse of how the Switch controller works before the release... As for the trailer itself, I'm surprised how much it has to offer. There is so much in it (almost a little too much)! And everything just looks fantastic to me. The mood, the many great details (LeChuck's desk nameplate), the music, the colors, the countless locations - I just can't get enough of it and am really overwhelmed. 🥰
  19. I think, what I like most about the trailer is, that it all feels very adventurous – like the "real" pirate game Ron promised us. And even though it looks like much fun, it also looks kind of "serious", not too goofy.
  20. I think Ron mentioned somewhere that the score will be 100% orchestral... If they could get real instruments for the SE, they should be able for this one. 🧐
  21. Oh man, this looks nice! First impressions: I love the style (also in motion), Guybrush looks good, LeChuck looks creepy/evil again (thank you!), the music is great... so much to discuss! 😍
  22. To get a bit more on topic again: Regarding the music, while watching Jake and Marius' MI1/MI2 stream over the weekend, I was struck by how many variations there are of the different themes. On one hand we have the different versions of the LeChuck theme: simple and fun in MI1, very dark and creepy in MI2, rather campy in CMI, etc. Also, the theme has been placed in other places in nice ways - e.g. in the Microgroggery in EMI or LeChuck’s fortress in MI2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOSY-a2wZzM&t=9635s And then, especially the Monkey Island main theme appears much more often than I remembered. A good example is the music from Dinky Island: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOSY-a2wZzM&t=10948s This happens so elegantly (sometimes just a few notes) that you don't always notice it at first, but then you think "Wait a minute!...". I love this so much, because it kind of gives us “new” music with familiar melodies. And I think that Monkey Island does that even better than movies like Star Wars or Indiana Jones, which do that very well already.
  23. Very, very nice! “the candle room”… 😂 I love that Guybrush wears his dress till the end under his coat because he likes it so much. 👌🥰
  24. Just had the thought that the recap could be a playable part at the beginning. So that we (and especially new adventure gamers) lern the controls and “type” of the game and at the same time to get everyone back on track. Could be fun to play through the story so far in easy puzzles as a kind of tutorial. (And then it’s back to the carnival…… 🙊🤩)
