@Marius' wonderful thread on the MI1 alley has brought me back to a topic I wanted to post about some time ago... We only see most of the islands during day or night. Actually, only "Tales" is the exception with Flotsam Island in chapters 1, 4 and 5 (and maybe the EGA sunrise in MI1). Now, I'm sure we've all wondered what one or another place looks like at a different time of day - and luckily there's a source or two to give us a little idea here: MI1 - Parts of MΓͺlΓ©e Island during the day (Fanart videos, apparently even playable) MI2 - Booty Island at night (Official Concept Art) CMI - Plunder Island at night (Fanart) CMI - Blood Island during the day (Fanart) Maybe there are even more of such wonderful "what ifs" out there? If so, why not post them here, too? π I find it totally exciting to see these places in a different light and mood, as it directly changes the whole scenery. Plus, it leads to certain mind games, such as: Where do the pirates go when they're not in the SCUMM Bar? What does the Voodoo Lady do when her store is closed? Does Carla also spin back and forth in front of her cabin during the day? What does Stan do in his spare time? (Same questions for all the other games of course!) Sure, there are no concrete answers to any of this (so far), but it's fun to think about. Let's see what happens!

*cough* Red Dead Redemption 2 *cough* But overall, yeahβ¦ youβre right! π€

Good point! I try to do that, too. I have things that I'd prefer in the game than others, but at the same time I try to be open to be convinced on a concept. It all comes down to how it's done. For example, I wasn't very fond of revisiting MΓͺlΓ©e... but now that we've seen much of it, I like what I see and I'm looking forward to it, as they clearly made lots of changes and try to make it a new experience - not only a nostalgic one.

Yes! I think I am totally with you there. I donβt even know if Iβd like my βtheoryβ. π All in all itβs gonna be hard to persuade/satisfy me with the solution of the MI2 ending. What I do really love though is the word βshenanigansβ β how great! β€οΈ

I wasn't talking about time travel for the whole story. Only in case of the first part at the carnival (the escape so to say). The theory would be: LeChuck brought Guybrush back in time to his childhood using voodoo, so that Guybrush would relive his live again and again from there to the underground tunnels. After that: (maybe!) a time jump and then the new game.

I think it all depends on how itβs done. But it could be a really interesting element. Iβm not so fond of the idea of multiverses though. Either they should implement all games or not, but they shouldnβt try to please everybody that way to explain inconsistenciesβ¦

I don't know if it makes sense, but.... What if at the end of MI2 Guybrush was just taken back in time by LeChuck (to a real past he had only forgotten) and at the beginning of ReMI we see his whole life fast forwarded - to the point where they are in the tunnels. There we have to stop LeChuck from taking him back to the past again, so that Guybrush doesn't get stuck in a time loop. And then, after he brakes out, we get a big time jump and the new story begins.

I always interpreted the whole βcanonβ thing by Ron/Dave, that they will add stuff from the other games as they like (e.g. Murray), but that it doesnβt mean that everything will be acknowledged. Therefore I donβt think, that anything from CMI to Tales (story wise) will make it in ReMI. And I donβt think weβll be able to put the game (or parts of the game) before or after one of the sequels acter MI2. Many things point in that direction, too, in my opinion, for example the monkey head on Monkey Island. (But maybe itβs also just my hope, that leads me to that conclusion. π )

Also worth noting: One of the dialogue options is: βHave you got a sea map of the local area?β I really hope we get one to do some Island hopping again. π₯°

POLL: Which version of SOMI do you prefer?
BillyCheers replied to ThunderPeel2001's topic in General Discussion
Me, I always played the VGA version before, but the twitch stream by @Jakeand @Marius really made me appreciate the EGA version and I think I really like it more now. π₯° Especially since someone mentioned that it often looks like they just used a gradient of the color for fillings β and I somehow canβt unsee it anymore. It just feels a bit βsloppyβ designed at timesβ¦ And Stanβs music: never liked it for the same reasons as mint others here. -

As much as I once laughed at βHeeellooβ¦ Brittany!β and βNice cansβ¦β, Iβd prefer if they donβt explore his horny side more in ReMI. π

https://www.eurogamer.net/the-secret-of-monkey-island-saw-25-of-its-dialogue-cut-before-release Interesting, didnβt know that! But funny as at my last playthroughs I really enjoyed the dialogues in MI1 and 2 (snappy and always funny/interesting!) and on the other hand felt that many of the dialogues in CMI and EMI were too long and sometimes a bit boring. Found myself several times just skipping the linesβ¦

This always sounded strange and like some kind of bug to me. It doesnβt fit at all...
