    • I adore my birth-nation. I am the epitome of everything to do with my country. I am proud.

    • I live here, therefore I have to be this nationality. Not by choice, mind.

    • I dispise my birth-nation. I cannot stand anything to do with my country. I wish to be someone different.

To be honest, being British doesn't mean your important or anything Steed, i mean it's about time the Monarcy was abondoned, we don't have an Empire anymore and many countries hate us as well as the US for going to war against Iraq. :(

And Tony Blair is a complete idiot IMHO, Labour are loosing popularity and it's about time we had a new PM.

TV here is so cheesy you could use it as a spread on you toast. :p

Anyway, enough of me rambling endlessly ;)

>Steed, John; Next time you make an affront on "foreign society," consider the fact that you're addressing the World's Nationalities here, and not similar-minded individuals.

There is such thing as diversity of opinion (say it with me) you know.

No offense intended to anyone who doesn't think all other European countries/the World deserve(s) to wallow in filth.

Oh, do come along! Is it really neccesary to state "This is my opinion" on everything I state? Alright... I guess you people won't let this drop until I apologise, so...

Sorry, Homuncul.

Sorry, Europeans.

There, are you happy now? Finally...

leXX, you are jumping to conclusions. I do not think all countries apart from England are 'slimy', stating that as if it were a fact is very wrong of you. I do, however, hate the fact that this country is about to shed it's individuality just so we can all 'play nicely' with foreigners. I am proud of our currency, our heriatage, our way of life. Definately keep the Monarchy, that's for sure. Long Live the Queen!

I don't think I'm extra-specially important just because I come from Great Britain. I do think, however, that my country is a great country, and I for one will not back down when people say things like "Remove the Queen!" and "Tony Blair is an idiot!". Her Majesty is an amazing individual, and the Prime Minister is doing a brilliant job at running this country.

Again, leXX, why hide behind an internet alias when you come from one of the greatest nations on the planet? Oh, wait, time for me to play nicely again... one of the greatest nations on the planet in my opinion?

Tell you what, you carry on on top of your soap box blurting out how wonderful the queen, prime minister and this country is, and when you are old and grey sitting on your moth eaten chair sipping a cup of tea, watching Coronation Street and counting your pathetic £46.35 per week, adoring the picture of the queen you have mounted on your fireplace while waiting for your hip operation, make sure you give your free bus pass an extra little loving pat for me.

Steady now folks, There's nothing wrong with being English... it's the Greatest nation on the planet - think of all it has achieved in consideration to it's size.

Obviously there are downsides like Lexx mentioned but most of these have been brought about by bad management. Letting any Tom, Dick or Harry enter the emigrate here hasn't helped and has put a tremendous strain on resources. Before anyone says it, no, I'm not racist but I do think that charity starts at home and that you should get your own house in order before attempting to sort out other people's problems.

i've been suspecting this for a while, but i think this thread confirms it. There is no way Steed is from england. No one is that stereotypically english except in american films and tv programs... :D

England has its good points, and it's bad ones. Just like anywhere else. But i have to say, now that i have much more contact with people from all over the world i realise quite what a bad image england has everywhere else. :( although not entirely unjustified in places.

Im getting fed up with the low quality of life, high costs and most of all, i need to move somewhere with SUN. im thinking of barcelona.

PS/ who cares what a bank note look like or is called? what difference does it make? don't get it.

How dare you, toms? How bloody-well dare you!?

Both my parents come from England. I was born in the military town of Aldershot, at the Saint Margaret hospital, while my father served in Northern Ireland. The first few years of my life were spent at army quarters in Broadstairs, near Kent, before the family moved to Guildford, a city in Surrey quite close to Aldershot in comparison.

More army quarters, this time very close to Guildford town centre. I've got photos of me visiting the cathedral and attending a church playschool, which is where my first memories kick in. I won a holiday to Holland when I was seven, going to Legoland. Just so you know.

We then moved to Farnham, Surrey, where I attended primary (South Farnham) and secondary (Weydon) schools before moving on to sixth-form college in Farnham. I acheived my A-levels with flying colours and decided against university. Instead, I moved into a flat in London with my partner, whom I met at Weydon, and started work. That is where I am now, typing this.

I am one-hundred per cent Great British. I love my country, therefore I do exagerate the English parts of my personna in order to stand out from the rest of the LucasForum users and so people know where I come from.

After all, I would hate for people to think I was American.

PS - Keeping the Pound is more than just spending money. It is a symbol of our island nation, with Her Majesty emblazoned on the coins and notes to remind us of WHO WE ARE! I don't want some note which is shared with the other European countries, depicting other foriegn people and places.

Man, I thought that sort of insane nationality was confined to the loony Americans who have flags plastered over everything they own (which is kind of ironic, since it degrades the flag as a symbol...), but I guess it's everywhere...

Anyway, somone needs to check out the rest of the world and realize that there are all kinds of people everywhere. Being a member of a certain country does not make you better than anyone else. Frankly, the only thing you British have going for you is your sexy intelligent women :p

National pride is certainly an interesting thing. Frankly I think the group who most deserve to have national pride are the Chinese, their nation/culture has been remarkably stable for pretty well as long as 'civilization' has existed. The fact that they've changed so little and yet have been so successful for SO long, would seem to suggest that they got it right at the beginning and are waiting for the rest of us to catch up :D

Not true at all. I was born here and I'm proud to be British, but I certainly don't like everything about it. I hate the Government and the Racist parts of Britain and many other things that I won't go into. There is no option in your poll for this is there? Therefore I go with Eggy's option number 4.

I agree with that. My view is I am proud of my country and my nation, based on it's history and culture to which I have grown up within.

But as for government, politics, crime (neds BTW), and sh*tty taxes plus overpriced goods, I am certainly not proud or "loving".

Ach well.

Ok Steed, i like your opinions and your persoanlity. But on this quote you went to far. It seems like everything you say is trying to bash americans. Well guess what english boy, i aint gonna take it.

Your acting like a panzy, pretending to be the almighty british man, who seems to know everything about everything. You know all your facts on american subside from news channels such as CNN and BBC. Guess what, they change every bit of info, to try and raise an eye. Im suprised you dont have the brains to not believe that crap. You picture us americans as fat pigs who stay home all day, and watch TV. Its udder and complete BS.

And dont give us that british are more civilzed crap. As far as im concerned the kind of responses from you steed, are little facts you probably stole off some website. Now thats civilized. And about Great Britan. I love England and its surrounding cities, but for some reason your just not like england and its surrounding cities. Your a measly little punk, who thinks hes cool.

I still cant believe you said that. What I were to say the queen is a cranky old hag, who needs to go on slim fast. Whats up now:mad:

Alright, how many times must I repeat myself? I DO NOT THINK, IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM, THAT BEING FROM GREAT BRITAIN MAKES ME BETTER, HIGHER OR MORE INTELLIGENT THAN ANYONE, ANYWHERE! How you people came up with that one, I will never know...

I also do not hold the stereotypical view that Americans are fat, television-watching, beer-drinking lazy slobs. That's only Homer Simpson. I realise that every country, every culture, every person has both good and bad points, and I accept this. I know England is not perfect, as I know America, Europe or anywhere else are not all backward countries.

The reason I am so British is because I am proud of my country. I don't like to use little smiley faces, abbreviations or slang words because I respect and use the original English language, in both cyberspace and when talking in conversation. My personna as a very British person is only because I am a very British person. There is no smoke-and-mirrors trick here - I am what you see before you.

I also apologise to anyone I have offended during this or any other thread. I typed some things in frustration when my country and my beliefs were attacked, and as far as I am concerned everyone has the right to defend what they believe in. I do not, however, think everyone else is stupid where I am not, and I do not regard myself as a 'higher' person in any way. Everyone is both equal and different at the same time.

To address Father Torque directly, I do not steal things from other websites (my computer is so old that it would take weeks to do so) and I do not believe everything I am told by the media. I make up my own mind, as you probably do. Just look at the recent Doctor David Kelly incident and rest assured that I recognise the truth from fiction. I do believe that some parts of England are civilised, and that I am a civilised person. I never said that I was more civilised than the next person, regardless of their nationality.

Just so you know, some of the things you typed hurt. But then, some of the things I typed probably hurt, too. So, I guess we are even, old chap?

Again, I apologise. However, I do think that several of you owe apologies, too. Ta-ta for now.

I think the problem was that when you asked what people thought of their nationality, that was a chance to get a round off about others too. Which would be fine if you had asked "What nationality do you dislike the most?".

Well, maybe that was a bit harsh, but the thread proves good for a bit of banter.

I'll get me coat.

Heh, I've said similar things a billion times :)

I really couldn't care, infact I'd rather have noddie on our coins, it reminds England of who they are, no-where else. The only problem i see with the euro is that, it gives shops and traders to have a big chance to rip us right off soon as we change. You would have to expect prices to rise by about 10% but go back to the normal price in about a years time. It would make life alot easier imo to have Europe all under the one currency (well travellers), goto Spain, you know you aren't getting ripped off, goto Germany - You can get everything you want quicker and no conversion through banks. At the end of the day, it joins Europe together as one big continent, just like America has the same currency all over.

Frankly, the only thing you British have going for you is your sexy intelligent women

Nah, that's the aussies ;)

Too detailled. Either you love your country on the whole or you don't.

BS. Scotland has too much crime - neds etc, Rangers, spending billions on a building that gets used once a week by ministers, Homelessness etc etc. but like everything else it has good points too - mostly nice people, Celtic, Education etc etc.

This isn't Black and White my friend :)

hey mr. steed.. after all we all are humans. and we all live on one planet. there is no way without a common currency if we ever want to leave this planet for what reasons ever. mainly surviving i think. i would call this kind of statement very shortsightened and not well thought. ..and not very british, too.. :dozey: it may be your opinion, but this is what will keep us behind the days longer then there is any need for..

just my opinion.

I can hardly argue with your opinion, RayJones. However, I must say that joining the Euro is no advancement in my view. It is more of a backing down by our government, giving in to presure from the European Union and other countries. I much prefer keeping the pound as an option. At least then I can remind myself of what country I come from.

I know everyone on this planet falls under the human being banner, that is not the point. While we all come from the same race, we are all individual. The English are different from the Americans, the Germans from the Indians, the Scottish from the Chinese. Why unite under one banner when everyone is happy the way things are?

first of all every "eurocountry" has it's own euro with own designs.. i got already euros of 7 different "nationalities". plus i was speaking of a common currency as result of the "globalization" seen as a "growtogther" of all humans. i think that one day it isnt of any matter anymore which ones nationality is. take this forum. many nationalities are here "joined" mostly for one reason .. somehow we're addicted to the george lucas imperium. ;) it is of no matter which nationality one has.

a small step for one man a big for mankind..

of course it wont happen today and i am not saying that the principle "euro" and its "realization" is done best.. but beside the negativies (i am living in a "eurocountry") which are not fault of the principle of a common currency btw, it brings some advantages with it, like for instance that you dont have to change money if you are visiting another country.

oh, and i would say it doesnt matter WHICHONE this currency is or whatever it is called.. imagine THE WHOLE WORLD would pay in POUNDs .. ;)

it is one of those small steps towards the future.
