WTF?!?

I hate JarJar binks, that stupid guy and small anakin destroyed the whole Ep1.

In ep2, jarjar was put to one side. and anakin is all grown up.

Which is better.:)

They do not! Look at my avatar for cripe's sake.

Darth Maul = Kick ass more, less talk.

The PERFECT villian, however being a SW movie, we can't send kids the signal that being a Villian is cool, so they had to make half and half out of him. :(

Darth Maul, RIP old freind...

Actually, the only problem i had with maul was the "less talk" part. If you look at the originals, Vader came off as menacing and evil and intimidating mainly through dialogue. Maul's few lines were cool, but without a bigger build up he came off a bit as a lackey/sidekick. And we all know what always happens to them.

GL is a great visual director. Some of the visual scenes in the prequels are breathtaking ( i particularly like the DM/QG fight in the desert and the clone army in the dust storm). But the plot, characterisation, acting and particularly the dialogue inthe prequels has had none of the "spark" that characters like Han and Leia gave the first films.

This tends to mean that the films make a good first impression on the big screen (even ep1), but on watching a second time, or at home you realise that appart from the visuals there is very little there.

Ep1 is VERY dull, very little happens until the last battle(s) and when that happens they are trying to cover too many seperate battles at once (4). Even the producer admitted that. So when you want to be watching the lightsaber fight they keep cutting to anakin or jar-jar's humerous exploits.

On the other hand, in ROTJ (weakest of the OT) they managed to have Luke in the death star, the space battle and ahn/leia on the ground and still pretty much keep the tension and the flow going.

My 'Fave to Least Fave' list looks like this:

AotC

TESB

RotJ

ANH

TPM

Some details:

TPM:I liked a lot of stuff from TPM, in particular the saber fighting and characterization of ObiWan. Look at ObiWan and you see the Jedi I want to be, the one I play in JKII and JA. I had no problem with Jar Jar, and thought the Gungans were better than the Ewoks. My biggest problems were the extended pod-racing scene, the whole midichlorians deal (glad they dropped that in AotC), and the juggling of 4 action plots at the end - including a continuation of the 'massively coordinated coincident occurances' theme from RotJ.

ANH: June 1977 ... me at 11 ... darkened theater ... I'll never forget ... it was just 'Star Wars' the first dozen or so times I saw it, and I'm still not comfortable with calling it 'A New Hope'. But 26 years later ... I find it slow. I still enjoy it, but seeing my younger son view it is telling ... he gets very fidgety during it, and would never choose it. My kids would put this at the bottom of their list. Oh by the way, the music here rocks - Binary Sunset? Hologram? Tales of a Jedi Knight? Awesome!

RotJ: Of the OT, this has my favorite action, and my favorite non-motif music - the final part of the duel when Luke says 'Noooo ...'. I love seeing Luke becoming a Jedi Knight, but there was too much coincidence going on.

TESB: The old thinking was that in a sequel, you knew the characters so you could focus on action. And that continues to be true today, and the reason why most sequels are big & bright but lifeless (e.g. Matrix, etc.). TESB focused much more on characters and thematic development than pure action - it started and ended with action, but even while that went on we were learning. And it was fun. Finally, the motif music is unparalleled - Yoda, Vader, Bespin ... ahhhhhh .....

AotC:How could this possibly be my fave? But I thought everyone who saw Star Wars as a kid held the belief that GL has 'raped their youth'? Whatever ... ObiWan is really played out here, and Anakin - (*THIS* is where Vader comes from, not some kid who says 'oops' and destroys the Trade Federation). The scene with Shmi, Zam Wessell, Jango, the romance (yes, I liked it, and yes, it was uncomfortable - if you've ever watched teenagers as an adult ... it's kind of like that, actually ;) ), Yoda, Mace Windu, Dooku, starting to bring things together, more humor, and so on. I saw it in theaters, at IMAX, and several times at home ... I still love it.

I cannot vote here. I have nothing to say against the prequels (besides teh guys who played Anakin), and nothing against the OT. Besides the fact that they are 30 years old. :p

And since anything old is inherently inferior and anything newer is obviously superior ... unless you're into the retro thing, in which case reverse it ...

;)

... damn ... I'm so old that I've just watched the second pass of the sttyles from when I was a teenager ... (early 80's)

You have missed out one option on that poll -

'They are all fantastic. Each one is as equal as the next.'

That would be what I would choose. There is no weak link in the Star Wars saga. Every second of each film has been absolutely amazing. Brilliant work from George Lucas there. None of them are terrible.

**coughs**WRONG

Episode 1 sucked because : Too much Anakin gayness, pod racing gayness, and too little "action"

Episode 2 blows because : Anakin is a fag with his homo love story, too much damn talking, and the best scene where Yoda finally shows his power lasts like 20 gay seconds!

Episode 3 : Will probably suck

Episode 4 was good because : There was a good balance of action, dialogue, and visual effects

Episode 5 was the best because : Everything was well-balanced and it was a PERFECT movie with great acting. P.S. - Romance was shown perfectly between Leia and Solo without boring everyone to fuc***g death. Oh, and Lucas didn't direct it...what a coincidence that it was the best one...

Episode 6 was pretty good because : It wasn't boring and the dogfights in space were stunningly capturing

So, >Steed, John , stop playing the little angel on the right shoulder and wake up....

well said, but I would have had more to say about ROTJ though. It is a bit chaotic at the end...but the saber duel with luke and vader is just amazing.

Sorry ... but your word choice undermines the seriousness of your opinions ... it is like arguing grammer while using 'ain't'. You are left looking immature, insensitive and foolish, and therefore your opinions seem brash and childish, which I know is not likely true.

I can be left looking however you wanna see me. This isn't AP English Language. I get enough of that at school. We don't have to use any particular words. I'm assuming that you're white (which you probably are) and therefore you don't really have a uniqueness to your expression. Sucks to be you huh? Believe me if I wanted to be a modern day Shakespeare I would but then I would be a generic person like everyone else. So you write how you want and I will write in the manner I choose. End of story.
