Southern California fires

Any other swampies live in the Southern California area? I live in San Diego, California, close to where the I-5 splits into the 805 and I-5 (if anyone knows where that is...)

So anyways, in general, how have you been doing? Evacuated yet? I've still got my house (thankfully) and the fire here is still a good 5-10 miles away. Lots of smoke and ash covering the sky, not good for the throat and lungs. I happened to see someone smoking a cigarette while watching the smoke, idiot...

So any swampies effected by the fire(s) yet? And how?

I'm in Fullerton in Northern Orange County. Obviously the fire isn't near here...but the smoke and ash has been overwhelming the past few days.

Today was actually better (I guess the winds shifted), but yesterday was horrible. I went to Costa Mesa and my shirt was almost covered in ash by the time I left this flee market I was at. It's strange cause if you looked towards the north, the sky was a dirty grey/brown while in the south is was a deep dark orange color....pretty disguisting.

Oh yeah, I left my window open last night with a fan blowing in...when I woke up, my desk was covered in ash....makes me wonder what my lungs look like.

I live near L.A. county. The sky was really hazy today, it almost felt as if there was acid rain. There was also a BUNCH of ash on the ground, more than I've seen in a long time.

I wonder if we'll get a few days off from school this week. I hope they wont have to declare a health emergancy, though. :/

My school got canceled for Monday, 10/27. Well, at least that is one thing that turned out positive in this incident...

I live in Coronado actually, kind of brown here too, but now you can see stars, so hopefully it's getting better :)

Hey, Coronado, I have been there... very nice town/island :D

I live in Seattle now, so far it hasn't effected me yet...

And today the local news have only JUST started covering it.

The fire here was started by a lost hunter that decided to start a signal fire...hmm guess he didn't really think too much of the consequences.

The only aspect that this is effecting me from these fires is that the SanDiego/Miami game was moved to a different stadium for Monday Night football ;)

Yup got moved to Arizona, Qualcomm stadium (the place they were originally scheduled to play) is right now FULL of evacuated residents. The sky here is still grayish-red, hopefully we can get some relief soon from firefighters who have just arrived from other parts of the country.
