I want to kill your computer. But blimey if someone didn't beat me to it.

No.

That sucks. I hope you can get it fixed. Or that somebody gives you a sweet new one, or something. I wish that would happen to me....the new one, not the virus. Hmm.

if it wont turn on its more likely that your PSU has gone. a virus can't stop your computer from turning on, boot up yes, but not turn on.

the easy way to find out whether it is the PSU is to smell it. if theres a strong and rather unpleasant smell, then that means you need a new one. but before you rush out and buy one you need to think the age of your computer. nowadays most PSU have surge protection built-in. so if it was a power surge that cause it to go the PSU takes the brunt of it and protects the rest of the computer. but if your computer is quite odd then its likely that if there was a power surge then the whole computer would have been fried.

now if you mean that you turn the computer on and you can hear all the fans going but nothing happens, then its likely that the processor has gone.

if when you turn the computer on and you hear the beep, then the floppy and the fans are going, but have nothing on screen then it might be your graphics card.. either its come loose or its crapped out.

i hope you get the problem sorted :)

A man after my own heart. stay in school, but for as least a time as you can. I went in today for 1hr40mins and then took the first bus home (I had no more lessons). Of course i stopped off in town for about 2 hours just so I could play Prince of Persia in Virgin (I don't have a PS2).

Well, the thing that Siv described kinda happened to me. My PSU decided to die and tried to take a hard disc with it. I was able to get the data from the HD, but it bugged me nonetheless. That's when I swore to make regular backups. And I will start making regular backups tomorrow! I swear! I guess...

:compcry:

yeah i had one go on me, and it was an old computer so it also fried the motherboard and the keyboard (???)

luckily i was going to buy a new anyway.

so i recommend anyone who uses a computer thats over 2 years old should buy a surge protector as your PSU probably wont have one.

Aww. It's ok. Besides, you don't want to get picked up for molestation, do you?
