The Congestion Charge. It only affects central London (not where I live, yet). I can't remember how much it is, I think about £2-£5. Before it was introduced the traffic in London was almost unbearable.

The charge is £5, but I wouldn't advice driving in central London anyway, parking is extremely hard to find and the car parks charge way too much. Use London Underground, much faster and cheaper. ;)

A bit daunting at first to be sure. Just be prepared for the in flight boredom (as we all know you are subject to :p). There will probably be a personal screen in the back of the seats so you can watch movies etc. but take a book/magazine/gameboy or something just in case.

Taking off and landing is the nuts though! :D

Attached to CD player obviously? :p

But seriously, take "things" to keep your mind active. Either that or you can get boozed up. :D

Bring snacks - nowadays the damn flights are so broke they hardly feed you anything. I'm talking practically nothing. That's the one thing I was unhappy with. But that magazine that's in the planes is a great read - the one that sells stuff at obscene prices!

Your ears go really wierd on take-off and on landing. The same as they do when your on a fast underground train. When I went to Rome my ears still felt the same a day after we had landed.

And BA sucks because they never have any entertainment.

Alternatively, to pass the hours you could combine BB's idea:

with STTCT's idea:

and bring Booze and obscene magazines :xp:

Although I daresay the flight attendants would have something to say about it.

Oh, and yeah - as you now know - the congestion charge only applies if you're driving into Central London. It's to get people to use public transport, so it's not like an olde-worlde toll-bridge where you have to pay a groat when you want to walk past or anything.

;)B.

It's the decrease in aptmospheric pressure acquired by the shift in the altitude from the periphery of earth's terrestrial sphere.

Got it? :)

 Ye wha...? Are you insane? Maybe not on small air-bus flights or the like, but certainly on the long-haul flights.
